The sadness in the revelation that those ratings are for AnoHana.
Shit. Why couldn't it be something more traditional like a year's supply of Rice-a-Roni? I regret ever being in the contest now.

Around here? Gosick.

Yep. Watching in chronological order.

At least Cowboy Bebop beats it on MAL...
...BARELY. What is wrong with these people?
native 4:3 (when will they learn?) of course, but I can fix that.
Just for comparison:
Evangelion

Clannad

Steins;Gate

As you can see, ANN fan ratings are truly useless. They can't be used to differentiate excellent titles from utter trash. It all looks the same.
Perhaps more worryingly there are probably people brand new to the whole 'anime thing' who use lists like this to decide what to watch:

The correct answer here is that Ano Hana is recent and cowboy Bebop is not.
CB is a classic anime series even by my measure, but the majority of people who probably vote on these shows are younger generation kids. They know a lot more about ano Hana than they do about Cowboy Bebop.
You're a monster.
Awesome, I haven't seen Utena either so I think I'll join you, it's an AnimeGAF Sacred Cow (tm) after all.
DVDs appear to be cheapish on Amazon UK, native 4:3 (when will they learn?) of course, but I can fix that.
So question about the end of the Edolas arc of Fairy Tail
they keep saying how Edolas Erza has good in her heart so are they just forgetting about all the people she supposedly killed?

I can only hope they don't start with the first title.
Like how game review scores really go from 7-10, ANN ratings go from Very Good to Masterpiece.
Yeah they should've cropped it to go against the aspect ratio it was made in & throw out anything the people who storyboarded the show wanted to accomplish for because some people can't deal with black bars. Durr.Awesome, I haven't seen Utena either so I think I'll join you, it's an AnimeGAF Sacred Cow (tm) after all.

I honestly don't get this at all.
Are you arguing that Evangelion is better than the other two? I mean you can take that stance but maybe you should realize you are the one who is wrong. Not everybody else. Clannad AS and Steins;Gate are much better shows than Evangelion.
Gotta get with the times. These days it's a Facebook Like or zilch!

Worst new AnimeGAF member.
How is such a thing even possible? Don Patch is like the smoothest guy ever.Another reason ANN sucks is Bobobo being in the bottom 50. Something is seriously wrong with those people.

Nope. That was around the time I was starting to watch currently airing anime, thanks to a friend who was promoting Durarara, but I wasn't following the scene closely and wasn't made aware of Tatami until I came here.Huh, okay. I could have sworn that you watched Tatami Galaxy. Hmm.
I wouldn't recommend most of that to newcomers.Well they are probably rated so high as average anime watchers like them. So they are good place to start for newcomers to anime. Then when you have watched anime for some time you start to appreciate more the non mainstream material. I must say that MAL has better top list though.
I have to admit that while my personal top ten wouldn't be so egregious as to include dreck like AnoHana, it would still be a disconcertingly mainstream list to most of you.

To be fair, jumping into anime with that list wouldn't be the worst thing. There's plenty of good in there. I wouldn't rank them that way, but eh.
I don't know why you guys are so hung up on aspect ratio. I say it's up to the viewer to do whatever it takes to enhance their viewing experience. I prefer Redline like this -

We have a winner.
I need to listen to some more Secret Base Dubstep remixes.
Everybody could tell that Ichika was going to win this contest from the start so it's not fun rooting for her. Team Lemon is way more fun and Team Kanna is way more HNNNG.
Please share, surely Blood-C is in there somewhere? (I'm guessing #1)
.
This, at the very least, was incredible.
Dubstep makes everything better!
Haven't rated it because I don't know whether it's one of the worst or best things to ever exist...I can't in right mind give it a 5 either. It's both!

Does it? ...does it?
you cant post a gif that awesome and not tell me where its from.
Looks good but you still didnt get the black bar out of the side.
Better find an appropriate television for 4:3 Redline watching, then.

I got back into anime thanks to Clannad: After Story (well, actually it followed Azumanga Daioh and Haruhi to name a few, but my "oh shit, perhaps I should take anime up as a hobby" moment was After Story's doing).Perhaps more worryingly there are probably people brand new to the whole 'anime thing' who use lists like this to decide what to watch:

I'm used to seeing some pretty terrible top ten anime lists, but I think I'm always most puzzled by the frequent presence of Clannad After Story. Not just because of my anti-KyoAni hipsterism and my distaste for harems, I'm always baffled about why this particular series seems to be considered BEST EVAR by so many anime watchers.
But I've enjoyed my time with Animu-GAF.And looks where it's lead you. To this thread. Clearly you should be re-considering your life choices.

Lovely, should save you having to use the Zoom feature too.
Is it available on Betamax or do I have to splurge on the VHS?
Available on Betamax, RCA Selectavision, or your other favorite modern video medium of choice.
I've also put the finishing touches on the ultimate Redline viewing experience:

Now with bad VHS tracking, static, screen glare, and rainbowing. Because blu-ray and original aspect ratio are for chumps.
