it's cool bro, we can talk Satie. Personally I love most of his early solo piano compositions and feel he tanked in the early 20th century but that's just me. I wonder what a dubstep remix of Je te Veux would sound like.
Some people (like Satie) just aren't meant to branch out of what they're good at, and i'd agree, his larger works and later stuff just isn't as good as where he started. I liked that he started out composing like a rebel though to go against the trends. Maybe losing that rebellious streak made that happen.

Same, I used THEM almost entirely in my earlier days. Got me into shows like Angelic Layer, which apparently the people (and I use that term very lightly) on MAL think is average to mediocre.

Angelic Layer is very very enjoyable. One of Bones' best works.

OMG Another is AMAZING. This is Final Destination anime-style. Really enjoying it.

PS: Who does the character designs for this? They seem familiar

It's really good.

The designs are by Noizi Ito (Shakugan no Shana, Haruhi).

It's hard to tell what MAL members think of anything because they completely adhere to the four point scale. Even the supposed worst-rated anime in the database pull around a six.

What? No.

Yui's awesome, but Golden Time Lover is one of the best OPs in any anime ever. So. Much. Hype.

Thats my second favorite one, though if I remember it kind of didnt fit in really with the feel of some of the episodes that it was used for similar to how the fourth ED (well its Scandal and they never do a bad song) felt awkward to the feel of the episodes.

It better be Iczelion or something horrible.

I only use a 7-10 scale on MAL. And sometimes a rare 5 or 6 if I watch an anime series that sucks just cause someone asked me to.

I think Garzey's Wing is the lowest at 4.2. Yeah.

Other amusing scores;

Eiken - 5.2 (LOL WAT)
Glass Fleet - 6.7
Blood-C - 6.5

That's out of 10, not 100. In a test those would all be passing grades.

Pretty sure I gave School Days a 1 directly after finishing it.

If I still bothered with MAL, I would probably go back and change it to a 10 upon reflection.

This would be hilarious, actually.
or rate all the shows people like bad and rate abysmal shows really well.

I saw some guy doing that one night. Everything popular he was just writing up terrible reviews and rating 1.

Only Yesterday review said:
When I decided to watch this anime, I knew I wasn't in for a good ride: the director is Takahata Isao, one of the worst directors in anime's history. I also knew the story itself, coming from a manga, was going to be atrocious: the source manga is totally unpopular and probably for good reasons. Even the movie's fans never bothered checking it out, and that's saying something

Spice and Wolf review said:
When I first looked into this anime, I thought to myself: 'Fantastic, something that deals with economics!' After the first episode, I quickly changed my mind and realized I was watching yet another modern otaku pandering piece of shit.

If you came there looking for economics, run. Unless you're a middle schooler, run for your life. The economics in this series are present once in a while, but they're flagrantly designed to impress kids coming back from school and retarded, autistic otaku with basic stuff you're supposed to learn in kindergarten

Nodame Cantabile review said:
JC Staff has got the tradition of releasing a bunch of worthless anime each year, and Nodame Cantabile is alas not an exception. You may know it already: Nodame Cantabile is an unenjoyable series liked by hipsters, coffin dodgers and kids from extravagantly rich families.

This series is a series about classical music, and all the pretexts that can be found to force the viewer to hear their music. And, if I wanted to listen to classical music, I would've already put it in my iPod. Unfortunately, I'm more the Slipknot kind of guy.

Lupin (Lupin, Lupin, Lupin, Lupin) III Episode 1

Pretty fun overall. I like the character designs a lot and its part of what drew me into blind buying Secret of Mamo.

Will the world stop reminding me to start watching the Lupin films in my list?
I'm gettin' to 'em, Lupin! I'm gettin' to 'em!

Once again, the Literary Girl skits just keep winning. She's so adorable and hilarious! XD The skit with the bike was pretty funny as well!

This show's great fun!

I stopped doing MAL ratings because it freed me from constantly thinking about what I was going to score something while watching it, but I'm kind of tempted to go through my list and do nothing but 10s and 0s so that my score for each show has more influence than that of the average person.

The troll review giving it 10/10 and it being a recommendation for people who like Evangelion is highly amusing.

I'm surprised AnimeGAF hasn't gotten in on this action alongside the usual School Days/Blood-C.
it's not trolling if it's the truth!

the lowest I have rated anything I have so far on MAL is a 6. I'm pretty sure I've got some 4,5 gems in the shelves someplace.

Lowest Ive given was a 4 and that was to some terrible special for yumeiro patissiere sp.

Otherwise I guess I stick to a 5-8 scale with a 10 only given like once every few seasons. Never score stuff I drop though.

I gave Dragon Crisis! a 3 and IS: Infinite Stratos a 4, what was I thinking? That's far too generous for Infinite Stratos.

Absolutely horrific. If you're going to troll, do it shows that are popular but are of questionable quality. Like say, Clannad or maybe K-ON!

I just finished reading the ending to the FMP novels and wow it really needs to get a animu adaptation. The rest of the material after Second Raid is amazing. So many insane things happen that have a high chance of causing shit storms. If it does not happen at least I have Sigma.

Lupin (Lupin, Lupin, Lupin, Lupin) III Episode 1

Mawaru-Penguindrum 2-5

The positive impression I got from the first episode is beginning to fade out.

I still love the presentation and the Kouba/Shouma duo, but it feels like we're going nowhere and OH MY GOD that Ringo girl is so fucking annoying.

Episode 4 with all those fairy tale-like segments had me cringing all over the place.

But episode 4 was fucking awesome fool.>:

Kemonozume 7

This show gives an uncommon amount of leeway to different directors and animators in how they realize their episodes. This one is no exception, as we get one of Osamu Kobayashi's trademark solo episodes, also present in TTGL and Dantalian. An early tipoff is this magazine cover:

2GoGQ.jpg

which reminded me of the Paradise Kiss ED.

Kobayashi is known for directing episodes that feel out-of-place in the series as a whole, and even though Kemonozume is less uniform than most shows, that is still the case here. Kobayashi's jerky animation style (such as the distinctive way he animates lipflaps) and his reliance on very tight closeups makes the characters look static and the environments feel clostrophoic, even when the setting is supposedly open. The treatment of sexuality is more like the typical anime awkwardness and creepiness than the maturity the series has shown so far: Rei's breasts in one scene had a distinct Gainax bounce, and later on there was a breast size argument that could have come out of your average harem show. This isn't only the fault of the direction, but is also the fault of the script, which feels disjointed overall and bungles the chemistry between the characters. The scriptwriter has written a couple episodes already which were perfectly fine, so I'm not sure what went wrong. All in all, not my favorite episode.

There were some nice developments of the overall plot:
signs that Kazuma's Flesh Eater heritage is catching up with him, and a callback to the tracer Rei put on Toshihiko's jacket in episode 2
.

If you don't like Ringo (which is a sign of poor taste, but whatever), you're not going to like the first half of Penguin Drum when it's practically her show.

So a Hunter x Hunter movie has been green-lit. Original story approved by Togashi.

Huh. I assume this will be from the staff working on the current TV show? Probably won't turn out well.
