Escaflowne (Film)
Well, that was very fun to look at. It seems sort of odd to me that they took the retelling route for an Escaflowne movie. For a series that's lauded for it's ability to tell a good story, the narrative was easily the weakest part of the movie. Every plot point felt disjointed and awkwardly plugged together. It was sort of cool to see the different designs and reimagings for different characters though (notably Dilandau, pictured above, who

It's sort of sucks that it was so awkwardly put together because it would have been a great entry point for anyone interested in Escaflowne. In the end, it serves more as just fanservice for people who'd already seen the series and didn't have to think too much about the characters who they're already partially acquainted with.

Well, it's not really surprising that taking an entire story and cramming it one movie might turn out poorly. Approached properly, of course, such a thing is possible - but rarely is it executed well.
There is now a Mirai Nikki live-action drama on the way this April. Sounds like it might be an original story with new characters.

It's not really an issue as long as they use proper scaling and filtering.

The ES : AO pv was nice (didnt hear the sound), but I wish they would have shown main character in a mech like the other characters, regardless, I guess I will watch, may end up forgoing the first series if I cant marathon it in time.
Her career died for our sins.

For the record, that Oshii podcast was not good. I mean, they spend an hour running through Oshii's filmography - I don't really know why they bother considering we all have access to the same Wikipedia page that they do. If you're an Oshii-head you probably know more about Oshii than these guys.

To be fair, the reactions here somewhat kill the fun. You should see the Suggestions section on Animesuki (and avoid pretty much everywere else). I've seen several School Days recommendations where people have come back and posted about how
