New VAs for the leads. Good choice. No baggage and very few "hurr durr jokes" about characters the VAs worked on before.

No CG. Animation looks very nice.

Bad things:

OP is obviously no DAYS by FLOW. Then again I dont think any show will ever match the first E7 in terms of how many fantastic OP/ED songs it had.

There's still somethng off about the whole thing. But at this point im still remaining hopeful that this can end up being an actual GOOD mecha series, something that hasn't existed in ages, even if it doesn't measure up to the original series.

However, Urobuchi still isn't too thrilled with the Tokyo government over the "youth ordinance bill" and is using this as a chance to send a message to them:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica screenwriter Gen Urobuchi noted on Thursday that the metropolis of Tokyo praised him with the Best Screenplay award in the Tokyo Anime Awards. However, he also commented that the government of the same Tokyo metropolis passed a bill "threatening freedom of expression with an ridiculous ordinance," leaving him very worried.
