The Place Promised in Our Early Days

That was...interesting. I think I liked the first part the most, and I wish they didn't focus so much on secondary characters after the first time skip.

I watched it dubbed on Netflix, and there were no translations for the interstitial text screens. Shit was maddening.

Questions:
Was the memory of her dream what she was going to lose? Why did she go into a coma in the first place? Was the whole multiverse thing just a plot device to make Sayuri's dreamworld into something "real" or was there alternate universe / timeline fuckery going on throughout the movie? Why was there so much piano music despite the prominence on violins(they're even holding them on the cover!)? Should I have made this into a numbered list instead of a block of questions?

All in all, I liked 5 Centimeters Per Second more, but I still enjoyed this. Kudos, Unknown Soldier.

Black Rock Shooter TV 1

It's an uglier and more bloated version of the OVA which I already found to be largely uninteresting aside from the pretty visuals and given that this one doesn't have even that I don't really see any particular reason to keep watching. I'd take more Thermae Romae over this any day, shitty Flash animation and all.

Why can't it be spring already?

We're still only half way there. Sounds like you need to hit up your backlog!

It was obviously melodramatic, but then, she is a teenage girl. I found it a whole lot more believable than the EAT DA COOKIES nonsense.

No understanding from me! I don't remember what it was like to be young
which is why I relive my youth vicariously through cute high school girls
.

Now watch Voices of a Distant Star and realize Shinkai has been making the same movie over and over again.

Guilty Crown 15:
Couldn't Hare have healed herself before Shu? I guess it's because she was so nice : (

At least Souta got decked for being a retard. Maybe Shu get some shit done now while being a tyrant. This show makes every Thursday better.

Yeah she probably could have, but I think even if she did, she would have still gotten spotted and might have end up getting shot herself. But yeah it all came down to her being nice :(

And I agree, it really makes my Thursday. I enjoy the show despite all the negativity it gets.. but I might be biased since I had a nice run in with the creators(or so I'm told).

Now watch Voices of a Distant Star and realize Shinkai has been making the same movie over and over again.

And then watch Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below and realize that maybe Shinkai should just stick to making the same movie over and over again.

Thermae Romae 5-6

I'm going to miss this show, but I also recognize that there's really nowhere else for it to go, at least at the level of quality they're making it at. I thought about what I liked about it, and outside of the premise, and Lucius, nothing else is good. The art direction is all over the place, each episode is incredibly formulaic, and the writing for everyone who isn't Lucius is totally stiff. Yet I had a great time because the whole idea of taking a guy from Rome and having him try to figure out Japanese bath culture is a stroke of total genius. And I like how he tries to take everything he learns back with him each time.

It's probably worse than pretty much everything I followed last season, but I'm glad I watched it.

Also, I'm a big fan of the ED.

????????

Nowhere else to go? They animated the first volume of the manga. There are more volumes available to animate.

5cm/s and TPPIOED were different enough for me, but yeah, I don't think I'll be watching Voices. I don't want to risk retroactively ruining the other two movies.

That actually sounds kind of badass. Like some kind of Lovecraftian shit.

I think the implied assumption is:

Because what we've seen animated is fairly formulaic the rest of the work is also fairly formulaic, therefore seeing more of it wouldn't make much difference because it's all the same.

Finally got the opportunity to watch High School of the Dead. When the show wasn't shoving fanservice in my face, (
The AK scene with the bullets going between the breasts was simply too much
) I thought the show was fantastic.

Is there any news involving a second season?

Amagami SS+ 05:

Ai crotch pillows
, coming soon to a back-alley anime goods store near you.

In keeping with Ai's episodes in the first series, her SS+ mini-arc is pretty laid-back and lacking a personality-driven gimmick.
Junichi has to go to cram school boot camp a day early? She's disappointed, but she's not acting like it's the end of their relationship.
I appreciate the reasonable level of reaction.

It's weird how every single week since the show started, people have been dropping Guilty Crown, and yet there are STILL people who remain. How many people started watching the show to begin with? Everyone? What a horrifying thought. :)

While I'd have expected more people to have had the sense to ditch Guilty Crown a long time ago, there's a chance more people would have avoided it if it wasn't 98% likely to save anime.

I felt like they were sticking to a format for each episode, and everything followed the same script. Very few jokes fell outside the basic structure of the show.

There's absolutely more that could be done with premise, but the show's staff would have to start giving a shit. Since it doesn't seem like the people involved were ready to do that, I'm happy with it ending here.

Nope, and unless they went with an anime-original arc, there couldn't be another season, unfortunately. The manga has been on hiatus since January of last year, and Deadhouse has already adapted just about everything available.

I really wouldn't have minded seeing more of Hirano being a fuckin' boss.

Cop girl. :(

Damn, well, it was a good ride while it lasted.

Black Rock Shooter 1

First, let me just say that actually having Miku Hatsune singing "Black Rock Shooter" as the OP theme is so awesome.

The show itself: a decent first episode.
Kagari is creepy as hell, and the Otherworld scenes were a fair bit more violent than I expected.
With only eight episodes to tell the story, hopefully they'll keep things moving at a decent pace next episode. I can already guess at
some of the connections between the normal world and the Otherworld
.

Also, now I see why the official story synopsis tagline was "this is the story of their 'pain'."
