ಠ_ಠ While Code Geass may have the occasional good bit of writing, primarily in the first season, the writing as whole is mediocre to bad. You need better standards.

My standards are fine. Just say I have bad taste like everyone else does.

I consider Code Geass to be an intense and thought provoking experience. There is a lot of stuff that people think is in trainwreck territory that I consider good storytelling like
Euphinator. I thought it was a ballsy way to display Lelouche losing control of his powers and massively fucking up.

Guilty Crown 15

Jesus Christ. Who didn't see that coming?
Hare death, accompanied by some very deleberate rape imagery when Shu forcibly takes Inori's void. Naturally, Hare's sacrifice so that Shu would be a kind king goes the complete opposite way. All this will lead to FORCED MELODRAMA.

Prepare yourselves, we're in full trainwreck mode now.

Predictions for the ending:
Shu becomes asshole, but gets results.
Saves sizable amount of students at first.
New attitude will alienate him from the rest of the crew, including Inori.
Melodrama.
Cat girl will die, probably more of his groupies too.
Inori will be separated(forcibly or willingly) and the apocalypse will once again arrive.
Will save the world.
Shuu will realize what he has become, will kill more people and possibly himself or Inori to remove the kings power.
Self sacrifice to redeem himself as a "kind king, adorned with the guilty crown"
Queue bittersweet ending, and Otakus/weaboos clamoring how amazing it is.

I want to bookmark this post, if for no other reason I think you're going to end up being so, so right.

Looks crazy as hell.
The surreal gag manga follows a quiet, timid girl named Misuzu whose older sister Naoko is returning from studying aboard. However, when she hurries home to meet her sister, Misuzu instead encounters Naoko-san, the strange alien from Yuri-sei (Yuri Planet) who is plotting to conquer the Earth by Yuri-nization
Apparently there's a 2010 OVA that I'm gonna check out ASAP.

Forcing twists into a story /= good storytelling.

5 Centimeters Per Second

GAF does it again. Great movie. If it had gone a little bit further and I didn't have such trouble figuring out who was who in the ending montage, the bitch tears would have broken out. I'm definitely glad I went with the dub. Trying to juggle the visuals with the subs would have been a huge disservice to the movie.

It was really weird going from lengthy media(video games, TV series, etc) to a movie that's only an hour long. Part of me wants to complain that it was too short, but another part of me wants to say "stfu and dealwithit.gif."

After Takaki says that he quit his job, I started steeling myself for him to commit suicide. So I was totally caught off guard when he smiled at the very end. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Wooo, i'm glad you liked it! It's such a great work, and I was a mess after I watched it because I did nothing but sit there and evaluate my life and past unrequited feelings for a week and got horribly depressed, but then rebounded quickly anyways. It was an experience, and man is it just a good experience.

It's only six minutes long, apparently. That plot description is just crazy. All hail the lesbian master race! :D

I tried to be polite, but fine. You have bad taste and you should feel bad.

It was foreshadowed with Mao. I'd hardly call that a forced twist.
So? That didn't stop it from being terrible and contrived as hell.

Come one cosmic. I love Geass as much as anyone but that part was eyerollingly bad. I agree that his powers going haywire could have been a good storyline but the execution and how it was forced was really bad.

I just thought how it was a total accident was great. On one hand it's an underwhelming setup, but on the other it perfectly shows how the most insignificant thoughts can lead into a tragic situation when dealing with a Geass.

Yuri Seijin Naoko-san 2010 OVA

Ehhhh, this reminded me of Nichijou in how boring and "random" it was. Thankfully unlike Nichijou this was only 6 minutes long and didn't overstay its welcome. Hopefully ufotable does a much better job with the new OVA series.

Black Rock Shooter 01

Hmm. Kinda seemed confusing at first but I think I'm getting the jist of the show. I have no idea what it was about other than really liking the cool character designs from Huke. Should I have watched the OVA first or would that leave me even more confused? The show seems interesting though so I'll most likely keep following it.

I doesn't really matter, the TV anime is basically re-doing the OVA story as well.

New Prince of Tennis 5

Pretty nice. Should have made Kintaro and Echizen the focus of the episode. Kind of boring on the other "matches". Lack of explanation regarding devil mode or whatever and that dude was odd, though maybe its partially my fault for not ever seeing the first series or reading the manga, but to assume viewers know is odd.

Enjoy is fun ending theme. The opening song, the guy changes his voice so much, pretty interesting song.

Probably GitS 1+2 atm. I'll wait on the Patlabor movies to hear about the HK versions, and then for the reprint of Jin-Roh.

And sometime, eventually, I will have to buy Angel's Egg even if only on DVD, because I can't not own it.

edit - btw, what ending credits song plays on the Ghost in the Shell blu-ray? I think they changed it for the dvd releases.
I'm still looking into the Patlabor HK BDs. I'd take the plunge and report back myself but I don't a BD drive for my PC, so I couldn't confirm anything. :(

I think the song was different for the English release only, not sure.

Sket Dance 1

Decided to start it today but, wow, Switch's favorite visored is Kensei, so awkward to have a Bleach reference right in the first episode...Bossun seems quite cool the goggles and red hat. Dont understand what the overall plot is.

BRS 01
Amazing. Anime of the year is already here, excellent pacing, direction and animation/CG.
"So long"
"So short"
"blooming"
"falling"

My first thoughts: This girl must be autistic!

Kagari is a little bitch!
The Counselor knows something.

It looks to have a more complicated plot, that tries to explain some things. Looking forward to more.

Daily Lives of High School Boys 4

I can't really call this the "superior Nichijou" as some here have. I was one of the ones for whom Nichijou's gags worked most of the time, and I'm not finding this much funnier. Plus, comparing the audiovisual excellence of the former show to the mediocrity of the current show in those areas does it no favors. The backgrounds are minimal to an almost distracting degree. The rooms the boys hang out in at home look too empty to be living spaces. A certain rough energy to the character designs - something that came out in the fight scene in this episode - does save the visuals from complete drabness.

It is a fun watch. Its style of humor, based around awkward personal interactions, suits me to the point where I even laughed at the pre-OP scene, despite its lack of a real punchline. Most of the VAs do a good job, although there's not enough Sugita. (You can never have too much Sugita.)

They totally ripped that one joke from Gintama.

To be fair, it was Tetsuya Takeuchi directorial debut; he also wrote, storyboarded and animated the entire thing all by himself. He is working with a larger staff in the upcoming OVA so I'm guessing it is going to be a lot more polished overall.

Now watch The Place Promised in Our Early Days.
