Tsugumomo is the one thing I would actually never recommend people, even with major caveats (yes this includes tlr darkness)

Shame because it might have the best super powered fights in all of manga and some great moments but it's too tainted

The action sequences are amazing but holy fuck it's smut incarnate. I've literally read porn doujins that were more SFW.

It's a shame though the anime is going to be butchered.

Yeah I definitely think dragon maid crossed a line this week. I mean, not a line in the sense of "omg, sin! Sin! Burn it all!" or anything, but more that it's gone from something easily digestible to something kinda uncomfortable. Before, it was a fairly nice simple show that switched out the very real and heavy social stigmas of a lesbian relationship for the fun and fantastical stigmas of a inter species magical relationship. It's something I could have recommended to friends as an anime with good LGBT representation or as an example of how to still include good male characters in a female dominated show, or even just for nice visuals and a charming cast.

But now I don't think I'd ever recommend it because I'd kinda have to explain why I'm recommending a show with a sexual twister scene between grade schoolers, or a series of gags where a grown woman strips down and forces herself in the bath with a small boy.

It's not like the show suddenly became something different, but it's still disappointing when the gags aren't even all that worth it.

Mag4 actually animated Lagrange Point, Im so excited! Lagrange Point was so awesome and just fooling around and having a good time teasing and helping Mag4 out. Wonderful episode.

Best ED song and best OP song.

I don't think it really plays up the otaku elements. Even the stuff this week with Fafnir was more sweet and focused on the relationship with his roommate and how he is adjusting to the human world. So far it's mostly just been set dressing stuff that I don't think limits the appeal of the show. Blatantly pedophilic skits are a different story. And people should stop pretending that this kind of stuff with grade school children is the norm for people who watch anime.

I'm just saying that the show encompasses a lot of elements that the average watcher isn't used to, I agree about the otaku part. Like, if you introduced the show to someone that never watched an anime, I feel like he'd question every single thing about it. The core of the show isn't strange at all, but it already has plenty of little details that just don't make it friendly to someone that isn't familiar to the medium. Just Lucua's, or even Tohru's, design is enough actually. So, I'm definitely finding the show to be a hard sell to people that don't watch anime regularly. Also, I didn't mean to imply that such things are normal for anime and anime watchers are okay with it, I'm sorry if it sounded like that.

In any case, I'm astonished with the backlash. I'm not saying it's undeserved but the whole thing with Lucua and the boy seemed like something you'd see played for jokes even in a Hollywood movie, despite being very tasteless. A grown woman that doesn't care about her body and an innocent kid freaking over something that is forbidden in his mind. It's not like she lusted over him or something. The other skit with Kanna was very awkward, however, considering she wanted to have something similar to Kobayashi's and Tohru's relationship, she literally did what Tohru usually does. Yes, it was a bit too much. I'd imagine they were going for something cute rather than something sexual, but they failed I guess. I think I'll really regret trying to justify them, but I feel like this is blown way out of proportion.

Wow, people did not like this week's Maid Dragon episode

Looking back, it makes sense. The first third was a straight adaptation of the source material. Very little alterations.

Yeh, I don't think so. If it was something the woman and boy or at least the woman was completely oblivious about, sure. But this kind of initiation seen here, even if we know she probably isn't suggesting sex or the like when she says she's offering "her body" (though what really else is there...), is still something I can't see Hollywood putting out there.

Something is brewing behind the scenes with the arbiters, Decimal specifically. Looking forward to seeing more of what makes him so different than the others.

Tbh, I'm tired and I'm definitely not able to find an example of that right now, so you may be right. I still feel that the trope isn't that uncommon or exclusive to anime though.

Itona, the one who doesnt use the door, calling someone else out on it, nice one Maehara.

I hope this isnt the only episode with the Big Five including Asano. Funniest episode of the whole Koro Sensei Quest.

Karma kun was perfect too.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Wow this week's Konosuba episode is probably the best drawn episode in both seasons. What the hell.

Yeah seriously:

Jaw = Dropped.

You'll note Kazuma's bow does the kyudo thing where it rotates in the hand from the momentum. It was just a few frames but the effect was very noticeable and far above par for bow animation.

The most ruthless joke of them all.
I liked this much more than episode 5 which I thought was the lowpoint of the season. This was surprisingly well animated with a number of really lively cuts and some good photography. Aqua's meltdown killed me.

I noticed that too with the bow, it happens earlier too when he kills the king. I'm a little blown back as this is by far the best the show has ever looked. There were a lot of good cuts such as Kazuma initially casting Freeze or Aqua's meltdown.

I have to imagine some new AD or episode director worked on this episode compared to the rest.

Funimation has a lot of titles releasing this May! Of interest to some is Momotaro: Scared Sailors, which will be getting a sub-only BD release. There's also Speed Racer on BD, though oddly enough that one's dub only. Oh, and Funimation's rereleasing the Haruhi movie that month too, in case you missed out on the original Bandai BD of it.

I'm gonna suppose Gangta did well for them, which is a surprise, considering it's getting a limited edition. It has a really awesome cover to be honest. I would buy it if I did not know that the show was a mess.

7Sins also has a cool cover

Yeah, that surprised me. I guess it ended up pretty popular, despite being garbage. Not that that's uncommon or anything.

Yasuyuki Ebara storyboarded, directed, and was chief animation director for episode 6; he also served in the two latter capacities for episode 2.

This looked a lot better than episode 2. Maybe the production schedule worked itself out or something.

Edit:Ebara is one of the Action Animation Directors for Attack on Titan S2. Shouldn't he be working on that?

SUPER LOVERS 2 Episode 4 – See Red

The height difference is back though not in school.

Kind of like the other Natsu that showed up mainly becuause it finally let Ren learn about Harus childhood that he never seems to want to share. I wish he would tell more.

Pretty dramatic later, I actually felt more sad for Haru since Ren did something a bit dangerous by not telling and just staying with some random stranger, yet it ended up being Haru apologizing for some reason. Hopefully things can resolve next week and please go on a summer vacation. I need more Aki involvement.

So much hyperbole about AoT S2. What people don't realize is that after the first 10 eps or so, they don't even really need animators anymore. Radio drama series until the end. S3 is when shit actually happens again lol.

And when it's not a radio drama they can just use puppets and pulleys for those random 3D maneuver gear sequences in the second half of S2.

Btw, I'm not downplaying anything, before some AoT fan gets on my back. The Cristina stuff in the radio drama arc is going to be really fucking great. I'm sure she'll knock if out of the park.... with her... voice.

Dragon Maid - 06

Shouldn't have picked it up again but wasn't watching much outside of Rakugo and at least this has competent direction and KyoAni visuals, right?

Unfortunately, just as it was the case with Amagi Brilliant Park, Yasuhiro Takemoto can't make up for trashy source material. Whereas this episode is particularly egregious as it features children in sexually charged situations/'comedy', it was never a stranger to dull, lowbrow humor about tits, maids, yuri and drunk Kobayashi.

I can't even praise any supposed slice of life qualities either in the writing. Thematically it has the depth of a puddle and the same can be said for the characterization. Anime for children explore 'the importance of friendship' and inclusiveness better than this.

I still like the show, but those moments were super gross and definitely made me uncomfortable. I am out if something like that happens again.

I'm a huge fan of A League of Their Own as well as Cross Game and since Narag reminded me about this one last night, it was time.

To say it simply (not that it's any different than my normal, shallow, jumble of thoughts) thsee were pretty good episodes to start off the series. You can already start to see where each character will fall in the story by giving a glimpse of who they are and where they are from. I'm sure they will get much more in depth over the coming episodes, but this was a good look into it all.

This Maidragon content is hardly anything when compared to other serialized content from the same manga author, involving a small guy getting a boobjob from a much larger woman and jizzing on her tits repeatedly as a central plot point (https://myanimelist.net/manga/90973/Chichi_Chichi). Boy, if Kyoani animated that instead, this thread would be on fire.

EDIT: Right, they're similar ages, but jesus the guy looks like a small boy for obvious reasons. It's clear what the author's fetishes are since near identical ones reappear in Maidragon.
