As a big Maidragon booster, this episode definitely let me down. It still had many of the elements I really enjoyed, but the lewd gets in the way of the warm fuzzy family vibes that I found so heartwarming.

A lot more uneven than the previous episodes, and the subject material just wasn't very strong, but it was a good watch overall. Fafner's relationship with Takiya was legit heartwarming and hands down the strongest part of the episode. It was mostly anime original of course, but the subtle rapport between them was present in the manga as well.

You just can't stop this show from getting better each week. You just can't. Also loved the bits where they went all out with the animation to make the moments seem more tense. The bow scene was phenomenal. Wonder how many animator offerings/sacrifices they had to make in order to make it happen.

Dear god this episode. That was just brutal (and awesome) but I don't really feel good after that. Gon's selfishness kills me. Killua is too good for Gon.
I'll say it every time it comes up. In 2014, that was the best episode of anything that year.
I'd say a few episodes in HxH that year qualified for that lol
We got episode 116, 126, 131, and 135 all in that year. And the entirety of the election arc.

Not everyone tries that hard to separate their interests. Raita's Valkyria Chronicles designs have very similar elements to his popular magical girl porn series at times, for example.
Besides, those two examples you posted are from a particularly broadly and highly talented artist, more so than your average mangaka.

Maybe it was the fact that we were seeing a completely different side of this show that we hadn't seen before, more melow, minimal and silent. Maybe it was the fact that we were seeing two characters that don't really get the spotlight shine for just a bit. But even their dynamic was cool to watch. Fafnir now seems to have found that humans aren't as bad as he thought they were too

Not sure what the issue here is. A lot of manga authors got their start in porn, it's hardly a new or controversial topic. If we talk about currently airing anime, especially ones from former porn artists, it'll come up every now and then. I figured a screenshot from fuckin' Dragon Ball of bare butt would hardly be worth NSFWing, but yeah, the other Toriyama bit is probably something you'd wanna nsfw which is why I'm thankful for Duckroll tackling it before I could edit.
