Could somebody please explain to me how this isn't the best Gundam show of all time? Because this is pretty much the best Gundam show of all time. I mean, no whining about war, no annoying or useless side character, a proswagonist who never wastes his time saying incredibly pointless things about war, God, or life in general, a likeable female lead, a larger-than-life villain who is a respectable, emotional threat, and DAT MUSIC.
How isn't this the best Gundam?

All of those sound like really terrible essay titles that high schoolers would come up with if prompted to write on the subject.
It's really unfair to the other series to even consider it a Gundam show. it's in a completely different genre.
I have to BS and use a bunch of filler to get 10 pages. I can't imagine writing 400.
So (according to generic gender roles), then the girl would wear the pants, and the shota would wear the skirt. Okay, I can deal with this.

Now that I've said it, I'm sure somebody will.
I dunno, it seems to have a number of important Gundam elements, including problematic Space Colonies, evil siblings, crazy superhuman powers brought out by piloting a giant robot, and I'm sure we'll see a Char clone before this is through.
And frankly, being in another genre could only improve some of these crappier neophyte Gundams, like 00 and AGE.
That one is a loli cockroach but still a cockroach in that world. This one is a cockroach transformed into a little girl, in the presence of a lolicon. Subtle but important difference.
I like to imagine her complete purpose in getting this PhD was to win dumb anime arguments. I mean "I have a PhD in Japanese culture" is pretty hard to counter.
Christy Gibbs just shot herself in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this thesis, is not going to want to hire her for any job, nor will they purchase any of her future publications. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Gibbs has alienated an entire market with this move.
Gibbs, publicly apologize and delete your thesis or you can kiss your business goodbye.
On GAF she'd just get laughed off of the site for it!

If you're trying to win an argument on GAF in the first place, you're doing it wrong.

The ideal GAF thesis would probably about getting dumped by a girl because you went into the wrong bathroom and forgot to leave a tip and got circumsized. Or something.
