Saint Young Men - OVA 1

What a great episode. What a great premise. (For the uninitiated: its a comedy about Jesus and Buddha living together in Japan as a vacation).

I read the first two or three volumes years ago, so I had thought I was prepared, but the anime version really just cranks it up to 11. The voice acting is superb, and the direction is strong. The backgrounds have a soft style that reminds me of Bunny Drop. Overall, it's way better than the manga, which is not always the case with adaptations.

Now I can't wait for volume 9 and the movie.

So I randomly picked this out without knowing a thing about it.

Yep, this is the most Japanese humor I've ever seen.

Also, GOD TIER ED.

Yes. The ending is by Momoiro Clover Z which explains its superiority. they also did the ending for a show called DoubleJ, which despite being only 20 seconds long was better than the actual show itself.

At least we got some nice Kajiura Yuki music from it. TRC has one of my favorite Kajiura soundtracks (and I'm usually only lukewarm on her work, to be honest). Nostalgia might play into it too, since that's around when I started watching anime lol.

Yuki had a bunch of great soundtrack work back then. Elemental Gelade had some really good stuff too.

Funnily enough, after being at work eleven years, only two coworkers even know I like anime, because I mentioned it. Most people dont know.

I was slightly tempted by this glow in the dark Akari t-shirt.

Though that name label ruins it completely. That and the best place to wear it is a nightclub which is probably the last place you'd want to wear it.

Why aren't you watching this show? The show's production values continue to impress and this episode was particularly cute. It also seems they are continuing to build up the characters which is surprising for a show with so short episodes.

None, because the only reason they work so well is because of the short format.

While the thought of twenty four minutes of Inferno Cop at once can appeal, I can only dread what would become of it if it were forced to be padded out into twenty four minute runtime episodes.
