This piece in particular is really phenomenal, I think.

Hype building for this all of a sudden.

People always say Ikuhara has a fetish for architectural porn, and while that is true I would say Anno's depiction of urban environments are just as gorgeous in their realism.
Mr. Anno's love for telephone poles and power lines is truly second-to-none, although I expected you to take advantage of his 'realist inspiration' to call him a hack as always...
now that I think about it, seeing el Puente de Alamillo at the GeoFront made me at first wonder how much GEHIRN/NERV had to pay on inflated fees for the commissioned project to Santiago Calatrava, as is usual with him. :p

Personally, I prefer the original one. The art is derpier, but it conveys the sincerity of the moment and Rei's blossoming appreciation for Shinji much more effectively.
But look at that hair on the one by Masayuki and tell me it isn't lovely enough to give that scene the edge over the rest!

Anno is partying like it's 1997 all over again!
Yeah, yeah... you start by casually partying with Mr. Anno and end up arguing with him about Yamato while he wants to change your whole work of love into a straightforward remake:

Gwyn Campbell said:
Anno: We met here and there at parties and stuff, then there was some sort of trigger one time and we started talking about Yamato. And the talk got pretty heated. "Yamato has to be like THIS!" "No, that's wrong!" etc. And so, we became friends.

MC: So, you could say that you became friends because of Yamato?

Izubuchi: Yes. It would have been around the time I was working on Patlabor.
Gwyn Campbell said:
Anno: I said most of this already, but if there's anyone in the audience who has yet to watch the original Yamato, please do! Watching it now it does look old in many respects, but 2199 doesn't have that hand-drawn feel or dirty and scratched cells, whereas the original does! (Laughter) Fans of the original like us feel that it had a kind of soul to it, but if you watch it as well as Izubuchi's 2199, 2199 is a good…how shall I put it…companion piece. (Laughter) (to Izubuchi) But you don't need to focus on the Gamilas side that much! I mean, who cares who that guy's wife is?

Izubuchi: If you did it, it would just be a straight remake. That's no good!

This whole talk between the two is so cool; two nostalgic friends and their juvenile passion! Nice!

Uniqlo is the only brand doing cool manga/anime shirts imo
What about BEAMS (BEAMS T)? Specially those pieces designed by Tsuyoshi Hirooka...

None, because the only reason they work so well is because of the short format.

While the thought of twenty four minutes of Inferno Cop at once can appeal, I can only dread what would become of it if it were forced to be padded out into twenty four minute runtime episodes.

However, Inferno Cop: The Movie

think about it.

Which of this season's short-form shows would you most like to see expanded to a full 24-minute runtime?

Can you imagine full-speed episodes of rapid fire Te-kyū with that length? Oh, my...

Dat deus ex machina...

"I never thought the power of the Prism Stones would be this powerful!"....WHAT?! Aren't you the guy who was saying that the Prism Stones would bring immortality to Dotsuku Zone? Aren't you the one who said they would grant Jyaku King unlimited power or something like that? And now you're saying you didn't think they would be that powerful?! Oh yeah, you could totally see the power bringing immortality and god-status, but as soon as it's overwhelming you a little you act like you had no idea. WTF?! Unsatisfying end to this arc imo.

And now Porun's here. And I think I see what you guys were talking about.

I know this is a kind of cheating non-answer, but I wouldn't want to see any of them expanded to a full runtime. These kinds of works shows tend to be comedies which have the potential to drag quite badly if they're stretched out too much.

To answer a question you never asked, I think Excel Saga would work better as a five minute comedy. Twenty-four minutes of that show can really grind you down.

Yep this is where I was like WTF? Because this is the halfway point! But it does go on, and the villains stop fucking around.

Be strong.

No strength needed, or else I am simply stronger than all of you. I love that little guy.

In which we learn about the dangers of letting the battle for an election within a representative democracy overshadow the the all-important issue of what the candidates actually claim they will do in office. Is this the Achilles heel of representational democratic systems and, if it is, what's the best way to tackle this thorny issue? Campaign finance reform? Limit the election cycle? Or perhaps the ancient Athenians had the right idea: random lottery.

Porun wasn't that bad this episode. He really just took Pretty Cure where they needed to go though.

But now Pretty Cure are faced up against Jyaku King. They look boned. Wisdom is also with them though. Maybe he's super powerful with the Prism Stones or something. He better be capable since he's the one who guards them.

Yeah, the ending for 0080 always hits me where it hurts. Such a fantastic work.

0083 is next, but you could just skip that because nobody likes it and move on to Zeta. (Disclaimer: There might be some people who like 0083)

Give me their names and I'll set them straight.

Oh, you're a Brit! Well, that narrows things down then, because most suggestions you can't buy here.

That's the brutal truth, at least for DVD's.
Pity him not for if he's in the UK he'll benefit from cheap region B bluray sets of stuff like Cowboy Bebop. Meanwhile I'll have to sell blood and get a second job.
On the flip-side, that does give us the most deliciously releases if/when they ever come out.

He may be a hack from a story-telling perspective (dude should stop self-plagiarising), but he's damn good at framing a scene!
But look at that hair on the one by Masayuki and tell me it isn't lovely enough to give that scene the edge over the rest!
That half-smile doesn't convince me, sorry.

This is the awesomest thing ever.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal 32

DESTROY THE SUN!!!

We have somehow gone full circle from the first season.

Wait did they seriously recycle the "Break the Floatation Ring" bullshit from like thirteen years ago?

anyway...Dotsuku Zone? Jyaku King? Is this what they say in the dub?

im a few episodes in tamako market and i really like it so far. very charming, love the art and the varied cast of characters. only thing is that people are really okay with a talking bird around and they really didnt see shocked at all but i guess its not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah I have heard that most people hate them. I guess I am just weird lol.

To be fair, I don't think I had a problem with the designs initially (Kira, Lacus, Athrun, Mu, Murrue, whatevs) but by the end of SEED I had a few I loathed (The Adjusteds or whatever, but it helps that they were just terrible characters.)

My only real complaint with the guy was that everyone had weird, gelatinous faces and tiny fingers. It's been years since then, so maybe he's got that under control.

Is there a support group for people who've seen Eva 3.0? I've been agonizingly remembering it all day, and I need someone to hold me. NOTE: I loved the movie, and when I say "I have no idea what just happened" I don't mean I can't give an account of the events, just that what all of it meant kinda eludes me.

The Light of El Cantare
I'm watching it on Crunchyroll. That's what the sub says. I think.

Ah. It's just that those are unnecessary non-translations considering that they're just "Dark Zone" and "Dark King" respectively.

It's less physics like ruining tides or bringing down an entire castle and more magical prophecy bullshit that somehow wins the duel. Take your pick which is better.

I'd watch a full-length Yu-Gi-Oh series with Duelist Kingdom logic.

well not really...yet
Dem majestic prince designs...

How can the quality of the character designs be so inversely proportional to the mecha?

Ive never seen such a huge gulf in quality within the same show before.

Well yeah characters designs for secondary characters were rather poor mostly. Maybe it's just that because I loved SEED so much having same designs and same genre for this show gives me hope that I can get some kind of SEED fix from this (as the movie project for SEED has died... =( )

Cocopops Connect 14-17

Been meaning to finish this series for ages. I found the original TV run an alright show in the end which is why I wasn't in a great rush to watch this final batch of episodes. But I'lm glad I made the effort to do so. I won't even let the voice actor prank controversy affect my judgement because quite frankly I found the whole thing got way overblown.

So anywho back to Totoro Connect. I'd actually say this was one of the stronger phenomenon arcs of the whole lot but a lot of it benefits from the stories built up from the previous episodes. Iori was the stand out character of this arc for the obvious reason that it was focused on her, but also because she finally snapped out of the fake personality she was always putting on. What I thought was odd is that she hadn't kept the fact she puts on a fake personality a secret. Even I remembered this and I haven't seen the show in yonks, and yet none of the character, especially Taichi, seemed to cotton on. Come on son.

All in all this wrapped up the show nicely since the show did feel a little unifinished after episode 13. Dodgy lass who was introduced in this arc
cuts her end at the end which is always a bonus as we all know shoulderish length is best length.
Also protip to any wannabe rudeboys: Don't commit a crime in your school uniform. How stupid is that? Especially when your blazer is not a standard colour like black or blue. So if you only watched the TV broadcast of Cocacola Connect and haven't watched this bonus set of episodes I'd recommend you do so when you get the chance.

Subete no aware
Hahaha. Because I'm good at Kickstarters or because I'm in the show?
Haha, I'm surprised you found that post. lol
But both, of course! Also get Wheaton to do a voice!

I did a quick check and it doesn't look like the character designer worked on that Midori show. It might be more of a show you'd be interested in so you can give it a shot if you want.
Maybe it was just what all anime girls looked like at the time. lol

Mei is wounded!
Did you ever finish the show?
