Dunno but there must be something when they're going so far to hide it.

You mean like how the location and time for the preview screenings are top secret, and only those selected get the info in their acceptance post card?

Or the character designs being kept completely under wraps until the day it airs?

How about the secret vocalists for the opening theme which will be revealed whenever they decide to?

I think it's just a super hipster production, just like how Penguindrum never had a full PV or real story description until the show actually started airing.

Duckroll, why did you have to drop the h-bomb?

You see? No need to promote the actual content of your show when you have PABLO POWER.
Goddamn right.

But it's based on an existing story, so there's no big reason for secrecy like with Penguindrum.

There's never a reason for secrecy at all, unless you're a hipster. There are lots of original shows which get made without any form of secrecy. :p

Promotional trailers aside, I actually think that's to the detriment of a lot of shows. Admittedly, that's usually because there's some plonker who decides to immerse themselves neck-deep in all the promotional material available and proceeds to attempt to spoil it to the rest of the internet in order to prove their nerdy superiority, but mostly it's more that the amount and type of information they reveal tends to run completely counter to the way they write the shows. Holding back reveals of characters and setting details in the show that they've revealed months ago in promotional material just results in something which comes across as dumb.

It was... okay? Needs more action.

Also, shouldn't
the climatic conversation go the other way around? I mean, the one trying to destroy the world is Black, she's not the one who should be getting angry and asking questions! Same goes for Akane and her passiveness about the whole thing.

I've read that paragraph twice now, and I'm still not sure what you're saying... >_<

It's amazing how this show can focus on the most every-day, common, mundane situations (compared to the whole of anime) and yet be so incredibly extraordinary at the same time. This episode kicked off the Fuyutsuki arc, in which we get to see some incredible time between Onizuka and Fuyutsuki (even the OP ships 'em) and Fuyutsuki's problem is that she's suffering a crisis with teaching. Her female students hate her because her male students all have boners for her. So she runs away to where she used to work and teach, only to be put off by her former student, who hates teachers, because the other teacher had an affair and more or less ruined graduation.

Enter Eikichi Onizuka. He's 22 years old, single, and the greatest teacher in Japan, FYI. And he'll probably fix this in a way that involves violence, charm, and hilarious facial expressions.

Sorry, I've just woke up and I've not consumed tea yet, therefore my brain isn't working at full capacity.

Basically, though, I think that they're way too forthcoming about details of anime productions in advance, and it tends to run counter to the way that they actually structure the actual shows in terms of when the show actually expects you to know or expect something - the show itself endeavouring to hold-back information that's been in the public domain for weeks or months. It just ends up resulting in something that's frustrating to watch, really.

It's why I tend to try and avoid pretty much all promotional material outside of maybe the first trailer or so - certainly, I don't go chasing the extended episode previews that get posted on the interwebs on a weekly basis (because why do I want to spoil something I'm going to watch anyway?).

Some studios obviously handle this stuff a lot better than others - KyoAni tend not to let too much slip out in advance, and Sunrise has actively trolled it's audience using built-up expectations before.

I just get annoyed sometimes when some people (not pointing fingers at anyone here, by the way!) decide to mentally collate every available piece of information about a show and proceed to steam-roller into conversations with information that the show hasn't actually revealed yet, but then again, I get annoyed with a lot of fandom a lot of the time.

TL; DR = Internet Detective sucks?

Yeah but the opposite is also true. When you build the entire marketing around secrecy and actively avoid talking about obvious things just to make it more mysterious, that makes people think that either it sucks, or that there's something super amazing being hidden. Often neither is true!

Well, yeah, that's true. I just wish there was a happy middle ground that was more often settled upon, or that anime would get better writers. I wouldn't count on the latter being likely, though.

That was a cute as hell confession. Akiho x Yashio approved!

I have to say tho, as we're winding down to the finale here, if there's one thing this show has going for it. . . It's the amazing score.

MASAOKAAAAA!!!!! RIP :(
Looking at combat skills displayed in this episode, it would be Masaoka > Shougo > Kogami.

Fuck, only 1 more episode to go...how would they end this.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Kotoura-san 10

Man, I really hope
Tsukino isn't the attacker
, because they're really beating us over the head with that at this point. Really looking forward to the next episode. I've gotta say, I didn't expect this show to go in this direction, but I'm loving it none the less.

I seriously doubt KyoAni will go back to Key. They can produce their own Keyshit, retain all the rights and still have it sell well. There's no incentive for them to tie themselves to Key.

An established rabid fanbase that laps it up and regularly buys it?

How true is that view, anyway? Little Busters didn't sell nearly as well as the Kyoani KEY stuff, neither did the Toei adaptations. Even after that, if you still think they've got a strong core fanbase, you could as well say the same for Kyoani; Chuu2 sold really well after all.

Just hurry up and finish! I am sick of all this wasted time on such a terrible character. Aki is terrible. She gives me a headache. They should have eliminated her and unimportant karate girl from the show, it would be much less boring. Although I doubt it would be entertaining even if they eliminated the terrible characters. I've never seen such boring ridiculous conspiracy plot. They blew their load early with the
mass genocide
plot and now we're just left with the dripping remains. They should take a note from Kojima's book with MGS2 and just keep getting more and more ridiculous until nothing makes sense! This has been so disappointing.

Angel Beats outsold all of KyoAni's post K-On shows.

Considering how much everyone here likes Umasou, I'm surprised there haven't been more Fairy Tale movie impressions. Same director!

I've still not got around to watching Umasou (maybe this weekend), but frankly, I think awesome Dinosaurs are considerably more appealing than what I know of Fairy Tail.

Mondaiji 9

How do I keep letting myself get a week behind on this? Bah. Anyway, yeah...I still barely understand what's going on, but
I guess Asuka's gonna fuck shit up now with that giant mecha, huh
?

Final episode in a few hours, so I guess we'll see what happens then!
