bad gameplay lol
Yikes. I really went a bit more overboard on the anime today than I normally do.

1x Mondaiji
2x Hidamari Sketch x 365
2x Joshiraku
3x GJ Bu
2x Straight Title Robot Anime
4x Puchimas

That's kinda a lot for me. :lol

And so this show ends with a big fight (that could have gone with better choreography and animations for those exchanges imho) and Izayoi showing off that he's the most badass of all the badasses.

I enjoyed the show, even if it dropped off in the fun department in the middle and squandered somewhat the cool idea of really powerful main characters. It still reinforced in me the hope of one day seeing Aiki animated.
I have no idea how it's been faring in sales and I don't even know how much material there is to do a follow up, but I do hope there will a second season in the future, especially with that
letter floating down
.

While I like the Opening for this one, I simply love the Ending that much more. As such, I was disappointed they kept the Opening but not the Ending for this closing episode.

The rest of the survey stuff, mostly demographics. Sorry for the delay. 42 respondents. Find the previous reports here (thread likes and dislikes) and here (hours spent in the thread).

If employed or otherwise working, listing a specific job was also optional; the responses of those who filled it in:

Finally, the question asking for knowledge of non-English languages was also optional. The responses:

And as previously noted, the gender results (which was also actually optional to report, but everyone did so anyway) were a predictable 41 male, 1 female.

I'll try to make the next survey more focused so there's less haphazard stuff to report, and it won't take so long.

A good variety of correspondents.
I wonder who has language knowledge of creole and where they are from.

Stop trying to fap to true love, you perv.

Well I assure you there was no fapping involved. But if there was, would you prefer I fapped to fake love?

Also,
was the sound of the airplane taking off when they were in the observatory supposed to represent a boner rising?

One of the comments on Hulu said that that service's version of Princess Tutu had (awful) dubs. Is there a place to watch it subbed?

The DVDs are pretty cheap if I remember correctly, otherwise I have no clue.

Yeah they're like $25 right now on Amazon. But I really don't want to spend more than I have to. Money's kinda tight right now.

Edit: Oh wait they're on TAN, and the whole series is available for non-subscribers. That's good to know.

Why cant they ever just go the high fantasy route and just fight and hack n slash, It would save so much time and actually get things done instead of going this long lenghty and dull route. I dont think this episode worked well at all animated and came off just way too wordy with economics. It needed way more on screen text and diagrams to explain its concepts as it was just way too difficult to follow along in terms of prices and the implications. We never even got how they determined what points stuff was worth and etc. Probably down there for one of the least good episodes of this anime.

This was definitely a big step up from the last two lackluster episodes. It did a really effective job of visualizing just how the characters interpret the cards and how they apply that to the game which is something the show hasn't done as a good a job as it has in the past. This second season has also had some fantastic animation used to give a real sense of weight to the lightning quick reaction times and this episode was easily the best example of that. Great stuff.

oh and taichi and arata still blow the big one

Why are you sad?

Edit: Okay, it seems I can only watch it subbed if I'm a subscriber. Ugghhhh.

Fuck it, I'll just watch Pretty Cure.
If you're planning to buy it eventually, then go ahead and wait, since the sub is better. But if that doesn't seem likely, then the dub is definitely still worth watching. I almost never think that, either. Tutu's dub is far better than most, and the quality of the series is more than enough to carry it regardless.

Oh... oh damn.
This was the first real situation where a pilot had an issue with what they were actually fighting. For all the pilots have known so far, the Angels have just been dumb, kill-everything-always-evil opponents. But in this case, with the new Unit being the angel and having Toji be the pilot, that was some real macabre stuff. I think not having Shinji know that the pilot was Toji was such a careful plot point to play close to the chest. It paid off so much in that big reveal in the last seconds with the steady noise of a heartbeat followed by the bloodcurdling Shinji scream. Really just perfect execution. I'm impressed.

I can't imagine how this must transmogrify the remaining tone of the series. I mean, such small psychological things have had such a huge impact in the past, but this is so big. Poor Shinji.

Step up? It was another disposable game against a disposable opponent that, in the end, went back to Chihaya being fast as the clincher. The gaijin episode was fine because it was the really the first game and the Arata one in that it actually developed one of the characters (a shocker!) but you could probably cut this episode out of the series and not lose anything.

This episode wasn't bogged down in shithouse animation quality like episode 8 was, nor was any goodwill gained from character development (which was pretty much negated in this episode) effectively ruined with repetitive flashbacks like 9 was so yeah I'd say this was a step up from the last few piles of shit that passed as episodes.

There is enough material for 2 or 3 more seasons easily.

I personally enjoyed the opening and ending songs as one of my favorites this season.

The point of this anime is that they don't take the high fantasy route. And yes this episode needed more explanation but they have only 24 minutes.

To summarise.
Winter king went independant ( from the central nations ).
The serf system got cancelled in winter country.( that was slavery )
They started a new religion with a similar base teaching so that they can get followers faster.
New religion will prevent the abuse of teh "light faction teaching" from the actual church.
They will have more people willing to work since most of the serfs will try to go in winter country ( Win situation )
Merchant guy went to buy stuff from the nobles to get richer and help the hero faction at the same time.
The nobles don't care because they think that they can do whatever they want as long as they have money and don't realise that you can do a thing about money if there is nothing to buy.
Winter country got wind of this in advance (the noble guy sending the letter was one of the scholar disciples in episode 3 ), so they implented taxes to protect their supplies..meaning that in the long term their country will be financially better ( especially since people want wage war on them ) AND will still have food since they can have food 3 times a year.
Dragon fire lady need salt for gate city so she asked the most capable person capable to providing her that ressource.

That's it. A bit hard to spend time on each aspect when you don't have time to do that ..
A total shame since it was one of the most technical of this arc.

You are never gonna get married with such underwear, lady. You should try something sexier.
Poor Bad Ox, getting relegated to merely prop decoration after his star appearance in Goldfish Warning!. He would later apply for a position in Utena for The Cowbell of Happiness, but Ikuhara said he was not princely enough. :(

Usagi really sucks at this Sailor Moon gig. That's two out of two times when Tuxedo Mask has had to save her and then give her moral support. He literally just showed up here in order to tell her "believe in yourself".

One really cool thing about watching Zeta is that I'm seeing Mobile Armors and battle stages from Gundam Battle Royale. I had a maxed out Hyaku Shiki that destroyed everybody in Royale and it's cool seeing my Mobile Suit actually animated. The whole Hong Kong episode is kinda cool in a nostalgic way too.

Sayo Yamamoto's directorial debut is a series I've been wanting to watch, but got around to it only now.

The first episode was really pleasing, and it was more or less what I was expecting- from the interesting depiction of the setting to the portrayal of the female characters. It feels very fresh, and not content with just that it's filled with energy and dynamism.

One thing that surprised me though was the amount of Christian imagery that is present on the backgrounds. It gives the setting and plot points of the episode a good visual framework and more character; it's also nice when you take into account the way the show addresses the Catholic Church.
More relevant than that, the backgrounds were really a joy to watch. Very colorful and stylish, while at the same time capturing the reality of the situation in that city. The walls, floors and props were old and rusting, the people were dirty and the whole place gave a feeling of poverty that I appreciate, since it's not something too common in anime.
3dufIZo.jpg

A lot of nice details that amount to more personality in the setting, like those graffitis.

Otherwise, the script flowed well and the whole episode was entertaining to watch (thanks, too, to the slick storyboard and abundant expressive animation). One thing that I thought could have been handled better was the whole sequence with
Hana running out of the house. At the end, I wasn't entirely sure if everything that took place since she was kicked out was imagined, or if it actually happened. Considering that the only explicit delusion she has is the boy and the truck, and that she is in the same exact place right after that, it tells me the only imagined part was that. But then, how was she able to come back to the house with no consequence after that?

Besides that, the episode was neatly constructed, setting some plot points for the future and establishing the two titular characters distinctly and with confidence.

This and episode 19 are some of my favourite episodes in the entire medium. Megumi Ogata's role as Shinji is also fantastic.

Evangelion 18 is definitely near the top in terms of my single favorite episode of any anime. I mean, granted I was at a tender young age and still unjaded when I first watched the series, but I'll never forget just absolutely screaming and crying at the television during the Bardiel fight. As lame as that probably sounds, thinking back to it makes me really miss being able to actually experience intense emotions while consuming a piece of entertainment.

fuck, The Beast II is such a perfect piece of music

Yes. Usagi totally sucks over halfway through the show. She matures a little eventually but is still insufferable even in R.

And I thought last episode was bad...

It's hard for me to focus on this episode and give good impressions of it in it's entirety because those last minutes were just so... much.

At first it looks like we're going through the emotions of Shinji refusing to pilot again, and why shouldn't he? He was forced into a situation where he was to kill one of his friends. Even if the consequences could potentially involve many more people, it's still not an easy decision to make. Then, suddenly, an Angel invades and obliterates everyone. Asuka, Rei, defeated. Dummy plug? Quickly rejected. Shinji sees that a harder option than leaving is to watch idly as his friends get creamed. So he runs and runs and gets into 01 and is about to save the day, but nope, he gets his arm ripped asunder and his plug is getting railed on. Then things get bizarre. According to Ritsuko, the Eva's are things being binded by the armor that surrounds them. She also said it was a "she". Her? I know it's a longshot, but maybe this has to do with Shinji's mother... Whatever it was, it was creepy.

At any rate, onward.

I thought this was pretty obvious from episode 16's ending.

This episode is a big fuck you to every super robot show ever, by the way.
