Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders 1

That's what I'm talking about!

Compared to the 2000-era OVAs, this is a big step up. Those OVAs played the early parts almost as a horror story. They were dark and humorless. But, as they have all along, David Productions captures the fun and excitement of the source. Everything's larger than life, and every dramatic point hits like a gong. It's an adventure! Live a little! Flourishes like Joseph lifting the cops in the air and tossing them aside remind the viewer exactly how seriously they should be taking events.

I'm really excited to see that old material done right.

IN SHAFT I TRUST

Yami To Boushi To Hon No Tabibito

Edit: On another note, are we still waiting on announcement for Captain Earth being picked up?

:D
YESSSSSS
but you cant really call Yami unpredictable because Yami literally has no structure.

The toothbrush scene is from the Monogatari series? I know what I'm watching after JoJo.

I'm actually hoping I dislike most of Spring so I can keep working on my backlog. This last season was too crazy.

Though I'll definitely watch all the cute girls shows so I can participate in the best girl debates.

Oh, it's definitely intentional. You'll see when you watch it.

LOL. yes Toothbrush is from Nisemonagatari.

Very enjoyable first episode. Haru is too pure for this earth and Azuma is
already taken in by her, though she hasn't realized it yet.
The supporting characters were pretty fun to watch as well, and I'm dying to learn more about this one in particular:

A PRINCE TYPE! YES!

And it looks like she's
paired with Kirigaya?
Yessssssssss!

Also, calling it now:

Sagae x Inukai will happen.

There's like almost 200 Cinderella Girls characters, though I think only a portion of them really have more than a base amount of characterization so far. So far only 30 of them have a seiyuu, with their own character song and CD, with enough time between now and January for another handful to do so. The main cast for the anime will probably be made from part of that set, mostly likely the first 10-15, with some that are near-complete guarantees due to popularity, but who knows.
It's a pretty crazy franchise.

Lovely Complex 1
I attempted to watch the first episode about 3 attempts and I gave up very quickly in all of these times. Mostly due to how visually stale and cheap the first 5 mins looked like. But I stuck with it a 4th time and it turned out to be pretty fun experience. Highly energetic and the main duo work together really well. Not to mention while the general look is very cheap and animations are sometimes lacking, the facial expressions more than make up for it. Very expressive and creative.

Narratively, it does suffer from the same problem some stories do when they have a gimmick and need to emphasis it. They pretty much run it to the ground. I mean sure height differences might be an issue at some cases, but not to this extent in the first episode where most actions and attitude of the characters were driven by their height. Hopefully that stuff gets toned down a bit later on cause I don't need constant reminders that Koizumi hates being tall.

One neat thing is
seeing the love polygon die in the first episode with the other 2 characters confessing to each other.
Hopefully this is a sign that this shoujo knows how to handle drama.

Besides Shizuku, who I'm familiar with because of pixiv (that's how I came to know about KanColle's Shimakaze, too - fanart just became unavoidable), I know there's also Ranko Kanzaki. Who I know is more or less Rikka Takanashi (right down to the VA) + rich girl. Say no more.

So I guess this what people who don't watch anime think anime is like. Everything from the
Hi-ero particles, to the boob fondling, to the Penguin dick/tail, to the porn mag treatment
just made me go "what?" I won't lie, it made laugh a few times. Especially the penguin men. I don't see it becoming anything great, but I'll give the 4 episode treatment.

Looks like this is the yuri show to watch then.

Just saw the the wikipedia page and is this actually a serious suggestion?

Its on THE LIST. And yes its quite serious.

2015 Winter TV anime for Idolmaster Cinderella Girls.

Director: Noriko Takao
Series Composition: Noriko Takao, Tatsuya Takahashi
Character Design: Yusuke Matsuo
Animation Production: A-1 Pictures

Oh shit. If this contains best girl Anzu, I might finally have to actually watch something Im@s-related.

The toothbrush scene is from the Monogatari series? I know what I'm watching after JoJo.

Watching Oreimo, Jojo, and then Monogatari? I like your style.

Mushishi 22
That mushi might be pretty handy in the real world.

Well, it's basically cloning. Which scientists could probably do already if it weren't, you know, a massive taboo.

Why is Mahouka 2hrs and 30mins after the JPN airing, I thought CR is supposed to be one hour after JPN?

First episode screens did seem pretty fantastic but had already seen all the stuff from the massive amount of promo, pvs, 20 minutes video and etc.

I thought we were finally getting progression on the romance front that would have spiced up the series incredibly but :( At least Im not the only one that calls it Mickey D's.

The File of Young Kindaichi Returns - 1
Decent first episode. The show doesn't look half bad, usually, but when the characters have the chance to go off-model, they do. It sort of seems like the show is living beyond it's means in that regard. There's some excellent backgrounds and fun character animation, so it seems like it could be serviceable if this first episode is any indication of how it'll look in the future (I know it's not).

The actual case got started really quickly. There was hardly any setup or introduction for characters making it seem like more of a sequel series than a modern reboot. It's not as if it's hard to figure out, but I would have appreciated just a little bit of natural introduction. The mystery feels a bit bland, but enough happened that I wasn't turned off by it. And thank God for mutli-part mysteries; I'm glad Kindaichi is willing to use them. Less memorable mystery shows in the past have tried to unpack a complicated mystery and have a meaningful deduction show all within the length of one episode. That sort of thing just doesn't work unless you're Detective Conan.

Looking at the description of new anime today:
Learning to ride and tame dragons comes easy to most students at Ansarivan Dragonar Academy—except for first-year student Ash Blake, who is known by his fellow classmates as the “number one problem child.” Poor Ash is the laughing stock at school because, despite his unfashionably large star-shaped brand that marks him as a future dragon master, he has nothing to show for it. His dragon has never appeared.

Until now, that is. One fateful day, Ash’s dragon awakes in full glory, but appears different than any dragon ever seen before—in the form of a beautiful girl! What’s worse, Ash soon discovers that this new dragon has attitude to spare, as she promptly informs him that she is the master, and he, the servant.

First, that's gotta be the most generic English name ever. Second, Friday night anime is so depressing. lol

The scene in McDonald's was amusing. Any chance I get to hear Nao Toyama put on an accent is great (mostly because of Karen), and the scene in the rain was almost touching, if not for the sudden interruptions that a romcom can't go without. Mostly, I'm excited because next week marks the debut of Asumin's character. Who looks to throw an even bigger wrench into things.

Lol, Crunchyroll waited until the last possible moment to announce that simulcast. 5 minutes after it started airing in Japan, and just an hour before it goes up. Roflmao.

Maybe I'm missing something... wouldn't they want to pimp it out beforehand and get people excited?

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Unlike the rest of you, duckroll recommendations never steer me wrong and this was no exception. For years, possibly decades if Firehawk is to be believed, I've wanted a strong Captain America movie that I never found in the 1990 movie nor the 2011 MCU film. The latter especially rubbed me the wrong way as it sort of embraced a camp element and, while this is more a fault of mine than the film's, was more of a pulp serial type of movie than the Nazi punching period piece I'd expected. This film, however, lived up and exceeded my own fanboy expectations and gave me the Cap movie I always wanted.

I was tentative going in as this trailer sold the movie as a darker, more action oriented, and more dramatic sequel than its predecessor. We all know trailers tend to lie but this one turned up to be rather upfront about the movie's intentions. The humor is present but it's largely subservient to the drama much like the super hero shenanigans accent the the technothriller feel of the movie without overwhelming it. The camp is no longer present, instead leaving a straightforward approach that works thanks its execution. Felt good to sit back and take in some great action pieces that possessed a sense of palpable threat I'd really not felt in previous Marvel stuff, some wonderful cast interaction, and a plot where little (if anything) felt unearned.

I think its easily the best of the Marvel films so far, even moreso than the Avengers, which I liked a lot but felt was buoyed by the Whedon banter, the fanboy VS moments, and Tom Hiddleston more than anything else. Frankly, I thought this great enough to retroactively make the first movie suck a little less in my eyes which is no small feat, I tell you.

Things I marked out about:
  • Batroc doing Savate shit
  • The Winter Soldier being perfect and having an amazing onscreen presence.
  • Sam Wilson
  • the usual post-credit shenanigans

and....

That disillusioned Cap.

Oh hell Captain Earth is pretty awesome

Yeah, that's the reason why he kicked the asses of like 20 people in the first episode.

That's how Mahouka works in every chapter
Store clerk: "3000 JPY pleas... What, you're giving me 10000 JPY!? Why?!"

Customer: "What, you don't know? I'll explain it to you. When paying at the cash register, when presented with a bill whose value is larger than the actual amount needed, the store side of the transaction needs to prepare the « difference » between that and the price of the merchandise I'm « buying ». In technical jargon, this is called « change ». Well, normal students usually only use 1000 JPY or 5000 JPY bills, so it's pretty normal for you to be surprised if I present you with a 10000 JPY bill all of a sudden.... Heh."

Store clerk: "Ugh... I lost..."
Other customer: "He's a genius..."
Other customer 2: "Wonderful!"

Nisekoi ep.13 (full episode this time)

You know what? To hell with it, I'm completely on Team Chitoge now.
No sense in going against the inevitable.

edit: here's the most glorious reaction face, finally in the anime in all its splendor.

Chitoge reading the drama scene was fun. Raku is still a stupid dense asshole, Tsugumi shines despite lack of screentime, Chitoge is love, Onodera is a boring wet noodle, so you know, the usual stuff.

Shaft seems to be Shafting it up even more as the series progresses.

Asumi-Marika next episode!
