Season 2 is going to be directed by Tomino.
But will there be dancing in the OP?

Oh yeah, and being somewhat related, around today/yesterday marks the 35th Anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam's first episode on April 7, 1979.

It's matter of perspective I assume. In my opinion, even shit like OniAi or Queen's Blade is a billion times better because it's at the very least honest. I'm cool with things that are intentionally stupid, things that are intentionally nonsensical. Eureka Seven has unlikable characters and huge plot holes, but the many bad aspects don't seem intentional at all. That's why I hate it. I consider it one of the worst animes ever because I was led to believe it was kinda good and felt outright insulted watching it.

Just lol.

Man this is really bad. I can't wait for the day when LN writers stop with all this self-insert wish fulfilment fantasy shit.

Also watching this and I can't help but laugh at the review by Random Curiosity which featured this great summary
A complex world filled with highly competent characters. They opened up a lot of questions, which leaves me wanting to know more.

Mushishi 1

Saw this earlier in the morning and I'm glad some things never change. Anyway, I wanna do a rewatch of the first season first so I will probably hold off on watching this until the summer season.

While there is that, looking past that I'm not surecwhere it goes. You have a boy getting even more depressed as the weeks pass. Kind like living with a loved one with alzheimers. Or you have the boy somehow curing her ailment through the power of love by the end of it.

Feels like it's gonna be closer to the latter. More cute and warm approach to the issue rather than a serious one.

Subete no aware
I'd gladly pay for a legal way to watch dramas.
Yeah, but I'm just surprised that it finally happened. I suppose the irony is that people in Japan can't watch their own shows the same way. :p

Funimation didn't bring over any past that unfortunately.
Ah, makes sense. I wonder if CR will ever grab something as enormous as it. It seems to be one of those shows that are lost to the American audience.

Love Live! (S2) 01

There are a few things I remember about the first season of Love Live. One was the alpacas. The second-funniest creature on Earth, right behind the platypus. The other was that the director - and LL is his only time being a head director - has a really, really, really good understanding of montage theory and editing. The same holds true in this first episode. The way the cuts flowed into each other in time with the music made the episode go by smoothly, every moment leading to the next, and slowing down when it needed to, like the moment on the steps. I loved Honoka's breaking into song moment, and the opening theme is also amazing. The CGI's improved too.

If WUG was about idols getting schooled, and Aikatsu is about an idol school, and Love Live is about school idols, though they all tackle the same material (sort of), seeing the different approaches makes this interesting. The characters were all on point (especially Nico, who's amazing and one of my favorite roles for Soramaru besides Nero), and the stakes have been raised, but not too much. Even if there's shades of WUG in the idol preliminaries, I don't think A-RISE will be presented as being the idol equivalent of the Sith like I-1 was.

Glad to have it back.

The little sister reaction and misunderstanding are magnificent.

" so your element is ICE !"

"Did you feel that son !? it came from japan !"

So good.

Holy shit. It begins! The death (??) of jdrama subs.

Just like how there are no anime fansubs anymore.

I'll admit I'm not really getting the specialness of the announcement. CR already carried lots of drama stuff. This just seems like a bunch more shows.

That said, with there no Biblia anime I might try the drama. Not something I expected to utter.

Have I mentioned how cute this OP is?

This episode brought to you by Nintendo.

Oh hey, an excuse to reuse this!

Their drama lineup was mostly Korean ones and the few Japanese ones they picked up weren't anything big or popular. This might be a step towards them picking up more jdramas in the future.

Nah the j-drama offer in the West is abysmal, I really hope this will lead to more stuff coming over.

Interesting. So Sentai is changing their release plan for the Chunibyou Blu-ray into a premium BD/DVD set. It also says it'll have an "English language track", which I assume means a dub?

edit: more details from Sentai (bolded emphasis added):

http://sentaifilmworks.tumblr.com/post/82013450673/sentai-filmworks-to-dub-love-chunibyo-other
Recently, our May 2014 release schedule was announced, which included the highly anticipated release of Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! Season 1. We’ve been keeping an eye on fan comments through our social media channels, and while we indicated a subtitle only release, due to the overwhelming demand from fans of the series, we have decided to release a Limited Edition Numbered Premium Box Set later this year which will include an all new English language track and both a Blu-ray and DVD version of the show. The current May release of this title will be a DVD subtitled-only offering.

Additional details will be forthcoming as they become available.

We would like thank each and every one of our fans for your support and are ecstatic to know that there are so many of you out there that love Chunibyo as much as we do. As always, we encourage you to let your voice be heard through our social media pages, as we are always listening.

Space Brothers completed! Really glad I watched this series. All the characters were awesome except for Olga which is the worst thing about this show. Seriously why?!?!

So many feels during the show and the episodes with Hibito on the Moon were probably my favorite. Kind of a weird place to end the show with so many things going on with all the characters, but it seems like they tried to close everything out the last few episodes. But I'm guessing this isn't the last of Space Brothers, is there going to be a movie or something? If there is future stuff and Hibito is working in Russia, it's gonna suck because there's going to be more Olga. UGGGHHHHHHH

Mangaka 01

I knew I was missing my dose of lewd for the season. The punny names, the metafictional look at the manga industry. Hardly the first series to cover this ground, with Mangirl and Bakuman and other shows on the market, but it's certainly the most lewd. Enjoyable and also short. Plus, I get to hear Saori Hayami reprimanding people every Monday, and that's one of the best kinds of Hayami.

Definitely. It's a tough pitch because it can teeter between children's adventure show to brutal mystery drama between episodes. As a result, the people I most often see talking about the show are fangirls.

So, Chunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai! season 1 is getting a dub after all, with a premium release later this year.

And according to Sentai, it's because fans were pissed--I mean clamored for a dub.

The Space Brothers movie won't be a sequel or anything, just a spin-off.
You can read the manga now.

The film is a prequel movie based on young Hibito/Mutta. The anime seems likely to continue at some point, but they've gotten pretty close to catching up to the manga so it will probably on hiatus for a bit.
