My ears ouch. I don't know about you but I quite dislike some of those harsh (thrusters?) sound effects, there are so grating and unimaginative to me. Sort of reminds me of something like those tuning sound effects used in last years Yozakura Quartet. Of course you could argue it fits the context but surely they could have come up with something better. lol

As for the CG well obviously it will have it's advantages, but I personally just don't like the look of it all that much, though more so with the characters in it's puppet like movement and robotic modeling. Something about the lighting in all these videos just bugs me. Wasn't super impressed with the action, the storyboarding is fine but I've seen much better mech action, fighting against rather bland tentacles attempting to just knock a mech about briefly doesn't help much I suppose, though it looked like some minor fight, so maybe I'll like the important fights more especially with context. I understand Polygon Pictures did that Tron animated series and that was received well enough, so who knows.

Edit: Speaking of Polygon, will be interesting to see how they handle the co-production with Ghibli on Goro's Ronia the Robber's Daughter lol
I actually liked the tuning sound effects from Yozakura lol

The CG is a bit wonky for the characters animations and that's concerning considering the source material isn't just constant action scenes. But I think based on what I have seen, they can replicate some of the good parts from Nihei's art for the mechas and these aliens.

Fate Zero CG Truck died for our sins so anime fans would accept CG.

In the name of the Berserker, the Truck, and the fighter jet. Amen.
Lies! Ufotable's recent Yoyo and Nene had a 2D animated car segment!

I'm glad more people are enjoying One Week Friends, I loved the first episode and I'm looking forward to more. As to the discussion on Eureka 7, I enjoyed it back when I watched it, but if I tried to watch it again I fear that my ever growing hate for whiny wuss characters would make me hate the show as back then I didn't mind them as much.

On a different note I hope something else comes out today, because if not all that came out today seems to be those three children anime shows, 2 which have to do with dragons. What's with the sudden obsession with dragons this anime season?

If theres one thing Im glad for for this season is that Mahouka is causing such controversy on the net that so many are checking it out and will hopefully inspire aniplex to treat it like SAO with giving us a really fancy release and a tv airing, and yen press to do the novels.

Doesn't sound like you've seen many then.
Of course the story made sense at least to some degree (though going into it would require spoilers), making no sense whatsoever sounds like a load of hyperbole. As for Renton, he's all that is wrong with anime? Oh please.
If MAL is to be believed, I've seen far more than 1000 hours of anime.

Well, it is Monday. Maybe it just forgot how to play videos?

Nah. I got it to work.

Freshly-aired today, Crunchyroll will be simulcasting The Comic Artist and Assistants. Mondays at 10:05am PDT, though the first episode will be out a little later today at 12:05pm.

Looks like my kind of show.

Also, the School Days DVD is now up at Right Stuf, and with a Discotek sale currently ongoing, there's no better time to put your order in.

gracias

Obviously it wasn't a serious comment. It just meant to illustrate that I think that there are far far worst things but we'll just agree to disagree.
It's matter of perspective I assume. In my opinion, even shit like OniAi or Queen's Blade is a billion times better because it's at the very least honest. I'm cool with things that are intentionally stupid, things that are intentionally nonsensical. Eureka Seven has unlikable characters and huge plot holes, but the many bad aspects don't seem intentional at all. That's why I hate it. I consider it one of the worst animes ever because I was led to believe it was kinda good and felt outright insulted watching it.

Subete no aware
The quality isn't great, but the first 123 episodes are up on Hulu/Funimation.
Ah, so no one has the full back catalog?

Today I went here:

Maybe you recognize it?

This walk was horrible. No wonder Kyon didn't like it very much :p
Time to visit the school itself!

One Week Friends 1

It's alright, could have been much better. Quite frankly, I just don't find any meaningful drama with the way the concept is laid out. It's such convenient
memory loss that allows her to function as a student, but not remember her close friends or anyone she wants to get close to. It's just there to create sad drama, but feels so artificial.
This reminds me of the novel The Housekeeper and the Professor which sorta had a similar theme, but it was more genuine than this anime.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
I unironically enjoyed Golden Time, despite the fact that amnesia doesn't work that way and despite the fact that I'm not entirely certain moe-fying Koko's crazy doesn't have unfortunate implications. What's wrong with me?

I don't even know if you watch anime!

Of course, but my wife loves anime, but generally hates watching them week-to-week (she wants to watch them start to finish in weekend binges), which results in me not posting in the anime thread very often other than to see whatever was good from the last season.

While there is that, looking past that I'm not surecwhere it goes. You have a boy getting even more depressed as the weeks pass. Kind like living with a loved one with alzheimers. Or you have the boy somehow curing her ailment through the power of love by the end of it.
