Yu-gi-oh! Arc V Episode 1: The Trail of Light, Pendulum Summoning!
BkqBNXfCAAApmen.png

Arc Five is off to a good start with Yuya have a pretty refined and focused design without any of those odd bells and whistles a few had that made them a bit of a turn off, his colleagues too dont have any wonky characters looks as well to make them feel like dead weights, though they seem on the younger side which is unfortunate. Hopefully they dont duel. The OP had one character that I want to see but I don't know when theyd introduce him, looked incredibly stunning yet sinister.

Odd-eyes dragon for my favorite card in this duel even if it was on the shorter side. Having a few cards from the first gen Yugioh, like Lava Battleguard and Swamp Battleguard was a bit nostalgic of sorts but strange in the context of the numerous cards available to be animate in the Yugioh universe.

Looking forward to more Pendulum Summoning especially that blue light and huge larger than life effect for it.

-Believe x Believe is definitely in my top 3 OP's this season.

I'll be honest: This description actually makes me want to see Mahouka now.

I just did, and it was actually pretty fun!

The school plot is dumb as shit, but the fighting sequences are surprisingly well done, and do I even have to mention how good it was to listen to Kuroneko and Ayase again? I just finished Oreimo and I already miss them, every time she said Onii-sama I felt like I was dying. SO GOOD, SO BASED, SO BEST, MIYUKIIIIII.

I can't see a route being better than the incest route for this show, if it turns into a harem show.

They don't even have time for the tsun, they already start all touchy feely, I CAN'T >_______<

Well...I didn't much like Mangaka-san. Didn't expect it to be structured like Seitokai Yakuindomo.

And I wasn't amused at all. I was more rolling my eyes than laughing. So I guess its saving grace was that it was only 12 minutes.

I guess I should place Seitokai Yakuindomo higher on my backlog.

.

I love the character design in this show, I'll start it as soon as I'm done with Winter.

The World is Still Beautiful 1
Pretty good opening episode. I always had an issue with modern shoujo stories being too focused on high school romance rather than exploring different settings or time periods. So this is a good step in the right direction.

Baby Steps 1:
This was a solid start. Ei-chan is pretty likable, and I enjoyed them showing the brutality of going through tennis training for someone new and inexperienced. I enjoyed most of the character interactions here, and the first episode makes it seem like there might be a solid mix of sports related stuff and character development/romance, but we'll see where it goes. I'm always interested in checking out new sports series.

You're better off calling me a fanboy than making vague accusations like this. :p
i was planning on saying "misleads" but i don't think it's intentional! :p

or, to make it less vague, I have found your comparisons between other shows and sailor moon to be skewed towards sailor moon >__>

Ok, got startered on the season.

Mushi-shi S2 - 01
Zen as fuck. It's everything I loved about the first season, but more of it. I'll take all of that you've got, Japan.

JoJo Stardust Crusaders - 01
sssssSSSSSSYeeeeaaahhhh. That's the good stuff. Bless these fucking badass manly tendrils of cruel destiny. So-No-Chi-No-Sa-Da-Me, motherfucker.

Irregular at Magical School - 01
So far it's everything I expected out of a weekly MADHOUSE anime. Not a weak-ass MC, got some sweet half blood sister action, superb animation & creative direction, characters are interesting so far, and there's a bit of tasteful fanservice. Some phenomenal action scenes are gonna come from this show, too. That's for sure.

Isshuukan Friends 1

Oh god, my heart.

This is already my favourite show of the season. And I say that in a season that contains Jojo and Mushishi. I love this kind of sweet story, and the execution is spot-on. Why can I not watch the second episode right now.

During that dumb fighting part near the end, I couldn't help but scream TOKI WO TOMAREE

God, I'm dumb, I deserve this anime.

Haha, ok then. Well, some of that is because I am pretty partial to it, but as I've consistently said in conversations with various people, PGSM is where SM deconstructs itself and gets really close to a Madoka-type ending but pulls back in the final minutes. The manga itself is also fairly dark and has a pervasive fatalism that makes the final ending a bit despairing, but it's not quite the same thing. I merely mention it to point out that the genre has dealt with this stuff for a long time already as shoujo has always been about going for drama, and what Madoka does is more evolutionary rather than revolutionary. That's not to knock on the show, only to address the reception it has received.

Also, my go-to point of comparison for a show that takes the magical girl form and turns it pitch black is Vampire Princess Miyu TV.

So far, Captain Earth and Baby Steps look to be good. Any other shows I should be on the lookout for? I'm open to anything really.

Mangaka-san to Assistant 1
Delightfully perverted. The format works well for it. Though I'm not enjoying it as much as Seitokai Yakuindomo

Ping Pong is getting picked up. The PV looked pretty cool. JoJo would require some work as I need to watch the other two seasons before. Anyone have an opinion on One Week Friends?

One Week Friends is good, as long as you can suspend your disbelief for the admittedly convenient premise. It's a slow-paced, understated slice-of-life show, so if that sounds up your alley go for it.

Hype achieved.

Yeah this show was legit. Oofuri with volleyball but the MC actually seems to have a spine of sorts (although hes still got his complexes) which is pretty refreshing. My favorite show so far this season (I've only watched these 4 shows).

Captain Earth 01 - mixed bag. Gorgeous show but the story already seems shaky and there was some pretty bad anime fanservice shit already. I'll keep going but not that optimistic.

Brynhildr 01 - Well I thought this wasnt that bad. Then I found the author is the dude who wrote Elfen Lied and I've already lost hope in this show and have written it off.

Dragonar 01 - The worst shit I have seen this year. Couldn't even make it 10 minutes into the episode. Its pretty disgusting.

To Heart ~Remember my Memories~ 07-10

vcIYI8o.jpg

This is how they celebrate Christmas in California.

I'm not sure how I feel about the OP playing at the climax of every episode. It's a good song, but it loses it's impact a bit once I hear it for the 10th time. Lots of stories moving forward here. Lemmy and Kotone confessed, and both were turned down. Hiroyuki's a lot nicer than he was in the first season, so while the letdowns are still hard to watch (especially with Akari being around for Kotone's), there's also a sense of relief to it. The robot subplot is also fairly interesting, giving Hiroyuki a clear guiding motivation, and Multi a backstory. Akari's taking the love triangle much calmer than I thought she would, save for that outburst in the hot springs. She's the kind of person who just wants to be friends with everybody. Like I've said before, this feels much more sure of itself than its first half, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it wraps up.

The left side is from the preview for this episode. How did you do this Toei? Hoooooly shit.

It's like... there were things that I liked in the first half of the episode, but the :wonzo was too fucking strong! I was too concerned about Madp and Hito's head falling off (KirbYayoi had no fears). I mean, 2nd best girl (Hoshiiwa) got improvements, then again, that's where a good chunk of those came in.

And we're really proaching into our real personalities a bit too much. It's somewhat accurate representations of who we are.

That being said, I enjoyed the Best Girls Duet/Rap Battle (KirbYayoi v. Hoshiiwa) and how utterly broken I am
BECAUSE TELEPORT, BITCHES

I don't mind at all. I enjoy a decent slice-of-life show. Also, I want to pull the trigger on purchasing K-On! Season 1 and 2, plus the movie. Recommended?

The more I read Baby Steps the more this is likely to become my anime of the season.

And for somebody who has never had a sports anime as a favorite, it's huge. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE.
