Witcher 3 gameplay from YouTubers from CDPR event

I find that picture really hilarious for some reason... Like I feel like it should be part of a sick hip hop video or something.

Will we be able to have companions travel with us and fight like in skyrim? I haven't been able to find any info on it

Haven't heard anything about it. It's also highly unlikely as Geralt works alone. There will probably be a be a couple escort-style quests, but nothing close to a companion system.

Probably just temporary companions like in previous game.
There are times when you travel with a companion doing a quest or mission. We can also see this from the recent gameplay videos.

Does MS have some sort of preload deal with some devs? It's odd that they seem to get some preloads like a month ahead of time.

Doubt it. Everyone else is probably just sticking to their usual schedule of preloads, dunno why MS decided to do it so early.
Microsoft gets pre-ordering up late, but preload early because they generally list preorders once the game has reached gold status according to its publisher and they allow preload as soon as they've received the gold final retail release for their store.

Sony and others tend to allow preorders like traditional retailers when the product is officially planned or dated by a publisher with Sony, and then pre-load is set on a schedule for a few days before release.

Yeah, like others said, most likely not.

Shame, really, I love having AI companions with me in RPGs. One of the first mods I always install when I play TES, Fallout etc, is companion limit remover. Always great to run around with a bunch of people towards the end of the game.

In full Witcher mode. Replaying TW2, re-reading A Time of Contempt, staring at art, I NEED IT IN VEINS.

Gah, it'll be so good. Two weeks!

File size is 28.9GB PS4 according to the SEN website. Now the question is whether to go digital or ratail.
Stickers ain't shit. Be a digital maven of luxury. Browse works of art on your gorgeous TV and select them on a whim. Eliminate the made in China paper and plastic mass produced boundaries of physical merchandising that clutter your decor and add labor to your entertainment selection.

You are here for the work of art, The Witcher 3. Its existence is all that really matters, not stickers or booklets marketed to you that you won't look at in a year's time, stickers that can only detract from your possessions, and a CD you will ultimately just be trying to get files from rather than use itself as purchasing the digital soundtrack would eventually serve you better when you seek to relive your fantasies weeks from now when you are finished with the story.

At least that's how I see it.

Strumpet.

Loveliness and elegance in a name.

Why did they change the inventory screen from this here to the boring black version we've been seeing in these videos?

Perhaps that will be something that will have changed for the final copy and will be a pleasant surprise because from what I know about game development the last thing to be finished is interface stuff like that (as far as I'm aware).

Exactly the same here, though I do like to collect Art Books so I hope in a year or so down the line someone will sell their collectors edition artbook second hand to me, because that's really the only thing that I want from the whole lot... Not enough to justify double the cost. Perhaps I wouldn't mind a map either. I like maps, but if it's been folded... no thanks.

Yeah it was one of my favourite things in skyrim, I guess it makes sense for Geralt to be alone

Because orange is disgusting. That said, they didn't do a whole lot with black but it's serviceable.

Damn it, that's a lot better.
Geralt is in the middle, and the equipment is surrounding him, just like in TW2. We can also see the stats on the right. It has TW2 vibe.
Why did they scrap it? :(

Why not hook your PC up to your tv?

Looks as if it is in a seperate room.

For instance, my PC is in another room, but it's close enough that a 15 foot HDMI cable can close the gap and allow me to hook my PC up to my TV while retaining my dual monitor desk setup. M

This isn't an option for everyone though. And even if it is an option, it's inconvenient enough to just warrant buying the PS4 version.

Well, IMO it's for the better. Much cleaner, readable and streamlined. It's just more elegant and cuts through all the little bullshit visual details. The first one is nice, but the final version just does the job of presenting the infos much clearer and better I think.

I agree. I'd say that the former is more PC-friendly than the latter.

Here we can see the root menu on the top of the screen, with the next menu only a single mouse click away. Effective use of inventory space and stats. If we swap equipment from the inventory, we can immediately see Geralt's stats changing. Also Geralt's Paperdoll making a good use of 1/3 of the screen.

Here we see that the top menu has dissapeared completely, you need to press L1/R1 repeatedly to cycle through the menu, which is fine for console players, but for PC players whom primarily use KB/M such as myself it'll be a minor annoyance. There's a little too much padding between Inventory, Paperdoll and Equipment. Equipment and Paperdoll is separated entirely and Geralt's full stats can't be seen in here, other than a small subset of stats near the bottom of the paperdoll.

Cleaner and readable, sure. But little visual details is what I think will make a decent UI turned into a great one. Of course since TW3 is cross platform, making concessions for other platform are often necessary. One can take a quick look at Divinity OS or Pillars of Eternity UI for examples of excellent PC-centric UI where concessions are not needed.

[Previous UI]
[Current UI]

I don't have any particular qualms with the new UI aesthetic, but I'm hoping there's a more efficient way of accessing all the interface elements using KB + M, similar to the previous design.

If there's one design decision that bugged me about The Witcher 2, pressing separate keys to access the Character skills, Inventory, Journal (without any sort of interface connect between them) was frustrating.

I'm glad to see E replace the left mouse as the default key for picking up individual items.

Because that would make sense.

Stop using your logic again, Dictator!

Some people might have their TV downstairs in the living room, while their PCs might be upstairs.

So it is not too easy to just hook it up to your TV whenever you like. That means it MIGHT be more convenient to some to have a console in the living room instead of their PC.

So think first before you post these snarky comments please.

still waiting for damn PS4 footage. that Russian blogger who made hour-long youtube video is playing it right now. first he told there's so little difference - one would have to look really hard to find them. and some hours later he told that there're freame rate drops during battles.

damn it just press damn ps4 magic button and everyone would be happy...

Retail gets a shit load of extras, so that gets my vote.

Digital copy, especially from GOG, is also getting nice amount of extras.

I wonder if leak like this is enough to fuck him over in future and stops getting review copies of the games.

well he recieved press copy from publisher, and his hour-long video was approved by CDprojectRed. there's no leak here what so ever.

Has anyone heard if the day one patch is available yet for the reviewers or are they still playing an earlier build?

Last I heard the PS4 version of the game was only being sent out to reviewers with PS4 dev kits.

As non-Russian speaker I assumed his coverage was cut together from CDPR youtuber event and from some released official footage. Releasing pictures of review copy to instagram with statements like "PS4 copy is super good with some frame drops" just usually is very frowned upon by publishers and devs when done before embargo is lifted.

Then again I didn't know he had some special deal that he is allowed to say that stuff before embargo lift.
