Witcher 3: Official Gameplay Trailer

I hope that what they said about TW3 being more similar to TW1 won't be limited to slavic soundtrack.

I agree, but I do still hope they find a nice mix. Politics are still a big part of the books (Which once again, started before ASOIAF) and The Witcher world in general, and it would be pretty redundant to have a story with such a heavy political backdrop like W2 and then just ignore it all in W3.

The stories in both games are excellent, and I think if they can combine a healthy portion of both they'll fucking nail it for everyone, regardless of whether your preference was the themes and "feel" of 1 or 2.

Technically? We don't know yet. It looks very lively, as I said, but we don't know how it actually transitions into those active merchant hubs, for example. As others have said, it could be like Ubisoft towers where it just plays a quick transformative scene after you kill the monsters in the village. It has high potential on a general technical level.

But graphically? Maybe you missed the Unity comparisons as far as open world. They haven't shown anything up to those levels of world or interior detail and this new trailer doesn't look better than the old notorious first gameplay reveals in a number of ways. Sure, there's trade-offs since Unity went for strong HDR static lighting sets, and we can probably expect better performance overall from Wild Hunt. But it is not the best looking game by far, and is not showing strong competition for the Unity comparisons we've had in previous threads. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=149160086&postcount=251

I'm not trying to start a big thing. The game isn't out yet and as a graphics junkie, I would always love to be proven wrong when doubtful of how soon I'll get a new standard for open world visuals.

Oh, I know full well how outstanding AC Unity looks on PC, believe me. I was heavily involved in some of those threads. Like these: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=933547 http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=933547

I basically have Unity running about as good as you realistically can as far as the visuals themselves go...i.e. maxed out with TXAA on a Acer gsync monitor. So, yeah, I know how fantastic it looks. It's currently the best looking open world game available.

But The Witcher 3 is definitely pushing more advanced graphics, and with more consistency as far as I can tell. We've simply never seen a game push this much geometry, this much detail, this much foliage, this many shadows, this quality of lighting, this quality of character models, this quality of shaders, this much dynamic foliage and cloth, with physically based rendering, day and night cycles, semi-volumetric clouds and dynamic weather all in the same game and at this scale.

I can't wait to finish this game and find out what choices people made.

Who you sided with. Did you fight, negotiate or otherwise. What girl did you go with. So much to be talked about in the end. It's going to be an absolute blast.

So damn excited.

This trailer has put the game on my radar immediately. Now I've got to get together 44€ to buy it before it releases. I suppose the discount is due to me owing the two other games on steam, right?

Also, do we know specs to make it run well enough? I don't know if my 7950 can run this as good as I want it to.

It will run it better than PS4, but whether that is as good as you want it to depends on you.
Personally I want at the very minimum PS4 graphics at 60fps, but ideally more than that, so I am considering upgrade from my 280X (7970) to GTX 970.

This game is awesome but all the gameplay we have seen is pc on high some are from ultra setting , very few on console . But some journalist like kevin vanOrd and others have play on console and still says it's was splendid. So i think it will be quite a fantastic experience and will take much of my free time for the next 3 4 month (work oblige )

this is the minimum and the recommended spe for the game ultra required a gtx 980 to play on 60 fps

One cool tidbit just found out, if you buy the CE game guide for Witcher 3 it comes with:

- The Witcher Grimoire: This 96-page book of lore is brimming with rare knowledge about the lands, monsters, people and pastimes of the world of The Witcher. Created by David S. Hodgson, this book can only be found in the Collectible Hardcover Guide.

Nice little bonus.

People wanting everything to be Dragon's Dogma are getting more irritating than people that want everything to be Dark Souls.

Both types are getting very annoying. I'm a fan of Dragon's Dogma and the Souls games, but I also really enjoyed the combat in The Witcher 2. It had some weak areas to be sure, but once I adjusted I had a great time with it.

I feel like some diehard Souls fans think they are part of some elite club and they think every game needs to have the Souls-type combat. It's a good system and it works well for the way those games are designed, but it wouldn't work in every game, nor would I want it to. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

I had to.

GOD TIER TRAILER ! :D:D:D:D

I really think my 2 weeks vacation will pay off to play it 100% :D

Do you guys think I'll be able to pull through with this setup locked at 30FPS and with a mixture of medium and high?

Intel Core i5 2500K
Nividia Geforce GTX 570
8GB RAM
Windows 7 x64

I see I don't meet recommended settings in the GPU department but the rest should be all right I recon. For reference I was able to play Dragon Age: Inquisition at high settings with FXAA locked at 30. I know both games are different and have different engines, sadly acquiring a new GPU isn't a possibility right now. What do you think?

I really really really can't wait for this game.
And it looks amazing.
But am I the only one who thinks it looks really video gamey?
Like it could have a more realistic lighting system

No, you are not the only one. It does indeed seem to be a video game
I kid, the game looks a little more saturated with it's colours compared to what was first shown, IMO. It used to look a little more realistic, but I like it.

Hyped as fuck.

Witcher 2 is one of the greats. A really excellent game, bolstered in equal parts by stellar technology and writing, so my expectations for this are pretty damn high. If they could give me anything (other than all the awesome open world stuff) I would only wish for smoother traversal (which it seems they have) and a more cohesive combat engine. Trying to keep from watching too much, but this is going to be the next game I spend nigh unto 100 hours in, no doubt.

Getting off the high of Bloodborne and going straight into this next month is just a major treat.

The CPU is more than enough.
The GPU should be somewhere between Xbox One and PS4, if it weren't for the RAM size (assuming you have the one with 1280 MB). So you'll probably have to go with reduced texture resolution, but other than that it should run at ~console settings which are said to be comparable to the "high" settings on PC.

Yeah, I had the game CE and the prima guide CE pre-ordered, but there is also this:

https://www.jinx.com/p/the_world_of_witcher_limited_edition.html?catid=

I don't know if I should preorder that too...

Woah what is up with the pricing on that? You can get the book on its own (And that extra stuff seems pretty pointless) from Amazon for under $30.

I'd say it'd probably be worth it if you're a big fan and you want more in your Witcher collection. That said though I'm sure anything written in that book would be discovered by just reading the novels. Except perhaps some cool art, but you'll get that dose of cool art via the artbook with the Game CE.

I hope they do a good job on the console versions. They deserve a lot of success for their hard work and now is the perfect time to introduce the series to a new audience. They haven't had to develop on multiple platforms like his before so I know it must be tough.

Really looking forward to this.

But first a PS4 for Bloodborne or a new GPU for the Witcher 3?

Decisions, decisions..

But will probably wait for the new AMD GPUs anyway to see what they offer.

No, that's down to the art direction and colors. It has nothing to do with the lighting. The lighting is superb.

Personally, I like an artistic or stylized approach to game graphics. I'm getting a bit bored with the strict realism approach.

Looks great! Trailer is really similar to Rockstar's gameplay-series videos that they've done for their last few games. For some reason that has me even more hyped lol.

GTA 5 had to start this really awfull trend of narrating over a trailer. Yes they want to explain the game to a new audience, but since this wont come on TV, who is gonna watch it? Oh, guess people who kinda know how games work.

And if they have to do this, at least get a voice that fits in the gameworld. She sounds like she wants to sell me insurance for my family. I mean they did the ESRB rating with Geralds voice, so I guess they understand the basic concept .... and then threw it out of the window because marketing guy said it has to be a sexy lady voice.

What they show in the trailer is awesome though, very well done, just get a better fitting voiceover next time.

Sorry if I am clogging up the thread with "can my PC run this" but currently debating between the Xbone version and the STEAM version. My laptop specs:

CPU Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.5 GHz
16GB DDR3
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860M

Which platform should I go with?

Pretty similar in graphics performance to PS4, so it depends on your preferences, whether you value things like mods etc.

I guess you missed this post
Ubisoft did a few of these sorts of narrated trailers for Far Cry 2 a couple years earlier

I remember the map editor one was what fully sold me on the game.

Your laptop is much more powerful than the bone. Go with the PC version. That is basically a better version of the alienware alpha.

I just started Chapter IV of Witcher 1. I'll probably play through Witcher 2 faster than 1 because it's fresher in my memory. I think I'll be able to make it through both before May 19th hits.

And speaking of that day/weekend it has the potential to be freaking awesome. It's my anniversary weekend, Witcher 3 comes out, and I'm hoping/sacrificing to the gods that my cursed Hornets will strike lottery luck as I'm downloading/playing Wild Hunt.

Thank you, that's quite reassuring. Now we just have to wait till the 19th!
