I figured I'd make a thread since the news stories are coming out. Some pretty shocking stuff, and its only the first day of the show.....

Joe Mad returns to Marvel comics. I swear to God! and Jeph Loeb is Marvel exclusive. Can't say I saw either one of those coming.

New Gen 13 series I was never a regular reader of Gen 13, so the news of the series means nothing to me. I am surprised at how involved Grant Morrison is going to be in the "relaunch" of Wildstorm. A new Danger Girl miniseries is coming, and Authority, Stormwatch, and Wetworks are all planned to be relaunched. I'm most curious about Wetworks, partly because I read the old series until the early 20 issues. After that my brother stopped buying, so I don't know what happened in it.

Brian Michael Bendis panel While I enjoy reading the character in New Avengers, I really don't get the obsession with Spider-Woman. More power to those that do. I'm glad to see that he's planning on staying on Ultimate Spider-Man past issue 100 (well, truthfully, I knew he would), but I'm doubly happier that Mark Bagley is planning on staying also. 1 creative team on a book past 100 issues with no fill-ins is a fucking record I doubt anyone else will beat anytime soon.

marvel knights panel I haven't read all of this yet.

After House of M

Michael Turner Marvel exclusive now.

Ultimate Line: the Gold Standard

DC: New World Order panel

All-Star DC panel

DC: Crisis Counseling

I'll add more of the news as its coming up.
Let's get some discussion going.

:X That last Gen13 comic by Claremont was beyond awful. dropped it without a second thought. Bring back Adam Warren, he made it much more amusing.

edit:

new Gen 13 series written by Gail Simone
Ok maybe i'll give it a look. FU matlock

Tough luck on Cloak and dagger, as Quesada just confirmed earlier today that no one is working on a Cloak and Dagger project. I have to say some of the most recent Marvel exclusives have come out of left field. I never expected Joe Mad to come back to comics, and similarly, jeph loeb has always seemed like more of a DC guy. I never thought Turner would ever sign an exclusive contract with anyone, but he just did with marvel today.

Leinil Yu is the latest marvel exclusive, and his first project is an Ultimate Wolverine vs Ultimate Hulk miniseries. The teaser art looks bad ass.

I'm extremely happy about this one, as I feel Yu has been out of the spotlight for a little while. I've always liked his rendition of Wolverine, and this one is no exception.

And on another note, how does anyone feel about a possible Ultimate Volume 3 without Miller/Hitch?

Artists like Joe Mad, Lenil Yu, and Michael Turner remind me exactly how bad "top tier" artists were in the late 90s. I'm glad Marvel picked these guys up, because I'll have a much bigger chance of avoiding all the books they're on! (Or in Turner's cast, one story arc in 2007).

Marvel had a good con with Brubaker/Lark on DD and Jeph Loeb, but everything else is underwhelming as hell. I honestly, do not give a rats ass about anything Joe Mad does.

I wish DC were a bit less light on their DCU annoucements, though. I know they want to keep everything underwraps, but give me something... anything! For the love of god, can you at least confirm Grant Morrison & Andy Kubert on Detective Comics?

I imagine at this point they're keeping any announcements for after the first few issues of Infinite Crisis are out, as they might ruin the surprises in store once that hits.

You can't direct link from Comic Book Resources. All but two of those covers were shown at SDCC, anyway. Nothing new from DC.

Uh, I know. That's why I said it in my post.

should i take down the pics thenn?
Considering the images are all CBR logos, and not covers, I'd say yes.

Added the All-Star DC panel. Frank Quitely and Millar didn't show up, so there was nothing said about All-Star Superman. I remember seeing that Top Cow was supposed to have a panel yesterday, but I guess it didn't happen.

can someone do me a favor and check the price list of the latest wizard? how much do you have to pay for "100 Bullets" issues 1-5 according to that list? thx!

isn't Morrison doing Superman? I'm pretty sure it's Morrison.

Yeah, my fault. I had Mark Millar on the mind, because its one letter away from being the same as Miller. And it basically seemed liked Frank Miller dominated the all-star panel.

here are some impressions:

Anyway, enough dreaming, you get the concept. The footage ran like this:

- blackout, heavy breathing.
- man's face looking stressed, closes in on his eye which lights up green.
- growling, roaring, screaming as Hulk happily torments a city's downtown.
- Hulk beats up a building, pan back over the shoulder of Giant Man.
- Giant Man carefully walks through the streets stepping over buildings.
- Giant Man squishes Hulk like a bug into the building.
- Close-up on Hulk's squished face, he smiles.
- Hulk takes it to Giant Man ending with a knockout blow that drops him.
- Shield flies and nails Hulk.
- Captain America attacks, toe to toe.
- Hulk gets the upperhand and is about to nail Cap.
- Boom! Hulk is lit up by lightning.
- We see Thor winding up for another and...BOOM!
- Blackout and heavy breathing.

This clip looked like it was pulled right out of the Ultimates book. Captain America looked like himself in the regular universe, but here's hoping they adjust him as well.

The movie will be out in Feruary of 2006 and it's potential looks incredible so far.

That Ultimate Avengers dvd sounds pretty amazing. Im liking everything I hear about it. Could be an outsider for best superhero flick of 2006. Considering Superman Returns doesnt deliver and maybe even if it does. I need to see this clip, as well as Superman's damn it! Why can't we get this stuff on the net. Does better for hype there than anywhere else.
