Glad Pixels is bombing. Sandler's output has been trash for over a decade now.
Shame about Pixels. It's an original idea (not a sequel//reboot) and it looks pretty fun going by the trailers.
And so many gaffers had given up hope and said pixels was going to make bank at the box office.
I thought it was based on a short filmShame about Pixels. It's an original idea (not a sequel//reboot) and it looks pretty fun going by the trailers.

I wonder what the folks at Netflix are thinking right now looking at another Adam Sandler turd.
There was a short film Pixels is directly adapting and an episode of Futurama that already did it better.I thought it was based on a short film
Not hard to see why people are avoiding it though: Sandler is "box-office poison" in a fashion now after... how many subpar films?

Original idea? Not really.
Watch Trainwreck/ Inside Out.
I wouldn't say full out bomb, but it sure was on a lot of screens. I'm surprised Southpaw beat it pretty handily.Surprised to see Paper Towns bombing.

People want to believe so badly that it'll be good.Saw Antman yesterday and the most unexpected part (Great movie by the way) was when the Force Awakens trailer player before it and the theater started clapping through out it....... Star Wars sure is something else

A december opening of 210M would be a greater feat than 761M lifetime gross, chances of that are very very low.The crowd that I seen Ant Man with cheered when Han Said Chewy were home line.
This movie will be something else. I dont think Jurassic World opening record will stand for very much longer.

The odds of Star Wars breaking Jurassic World's record (or topping it domestically) aren't great, and it has nothing to do with the potential quality of the film.
Not saying it couldn't happen, because it could. But it's nowhere near a guarantee. We just did about 20-25 minutes in tomorrow's episode of Full of Sith on how Star Wars fans are setting the movie up for a cant-miss media narrative about how disappointing the film's box-office is come December.

2015 is going to be the first year where domestically, The Hunger Games series is not placed first in the yearly box-office sum.

Jurassic World will most likely end-up being the winner for this year.
huh?
the only time hungers games came top is with catching fire
Sniper beat mocking jay part 1 and the dark knight rises and avengers beat the first film
At first, I didn't know what you were talking about, since the first film was third for the year.
This year will be the first year where a Hunger Games film doesn't finish in the top 3. It could conceivably fail to finish in the top 5 if it doesn't increase over the last film.

He meant that it was #1 for the year at some point in its run. Sort of a meaningless distinction though.
So, essentially we might see something akin to the reactions to AoU's run.
I know the early line from Sony was that this was positioned to become a 21st century Ghostbuster-like comedy with franchise potential. Do you thing this is an early sign of what to expect from Paul Feig's Ghostbusters performance in 2016?
... you thought you were going to be able to see the new Star Wars opening night without buying tickets before hand? In good seats?Starting to feel that i may need to buy tickets early rather than just walking in to see it, especially if i want to see it on opening night in good seats.
Where is the Time to Eat Crow thread? That goes both ways right?
So China allows 34 imported movies a year, yes? Is it the Chinese government doing the choosing, are their bids being made, how does that process work? Could they get filled up and say, "eh, Star Wars, lets not do that it'll take away from our domestic products"
It makes more sense to try and co-produce, which means you get counted outside of the 34 and you get a higher cut. You can get stuff like Iron Man 3 and Furious 7.So China allows 34 imported movies a year, yes? Is it the Chinese government doing the choosing, are their bids being made, how does that process work? Such a stupid example. Episode 7 would need a ~170M reduction in domestic over the last one and a contraction in the overseas gross. So, essentially we might see something akin to the reactions to AoU's run.
JW, Furious 7 and AoU are all apt comparisons for lifetime gross, the Cameron movies not so much. The main reason why AoU is seen as disappointing by some is that it has a previous film to be measured against. AoU failed to match or exceed the first film in pretty much every BO category and also critically. Does Episode VII get measured against the other entries in the franchise or do fans think it must be measured against the likes of JW, Titanic, and Avatar?
