that film was our last hope
Episode 8 is being released in summer 2017
according to wikipedia there are two 70mm cinemas here. One of them lists 2d and the other as 3d
Do they have different cinemas for each? I am an imax nooby. What should I be looking for for the best experience?
Same question really. And is 70mm better than Laser IMAX?
Number 2# out of reach now ww?
The worst part about that reveal is that means absolutely nothing in the context of the film. Kirk and Spock should have reacted like Korath did to Starlord.
Besides, Undiscovered Country is the best Trek film in the end.
Guess audiences didn't really like Hateful 8.
I assume that's the last western Tarantonto gets greenlit.![]()
He should make a dirty Bountyhunter movieImagine Tarantino doing a Star Wars movie. Nobody on the light side of the force.
He should make a dirty Bountyhunter movie
First day gross for The Force Awakens in China was $32m including midnight. Third best debut for a Hollywood film there. About half of Furious 7s first day though.
That is 3rd best for a Hollywood film--there are only 33 (I think) more Hollywood films this year. Kung Fu Panda will count as a Chinese film. You think it'll be out of the top10 best debuts by next year? Seems like a rapidly growing market.
I don't think TFA is going to get to Titanic WW guys.

...Why does Kung Fu Panda count as a Chinese film

Its dead, Jim.$45M is probably the best case scenario for TFA then, which is unfortunately makes $1 billion a pipe dream, even with some sort of aggressive expansion a few months down the road.
iirc co-financed I think
Partnership/ co-production with a Chinese studio, first of its kind for a major USA animated film. About 1/3 is made in China
Yes, I agree the market is growing, but 2016 doesn't seem to have as many mega-hits as 2015. Captain America and Batman v Superman have potential, maybe X Men--I don't know if there are 7 mega Hollywood hits in 2016.Sure, but between 32 million and 60 million is a large enough gap that could be easily filled by any blockbuster that might resonate with the audience. Furious 7 just shows that the ceiling is pretty high, and that's not the full potential of the market either. I think this sort of rankings in China are very temporary.
Transformers 5...?Maybe a movie with robots and dinosaurs next?
I'm probably missing a few areas, but it just seems like $600M is a long way to go. Lets say it only does $150M more domestically and then low ball $200M or so in China. Can it cover $350M more in the remaining territories? It pretty much is at this point

Tickets arent sold out at imax for tonight's showing bu all the mid and back placement of about (40) spots are taken, those same spots are taken for tomorrow. Looks like the next screening is near sold out as well.

Thanks I'm in china. Will post some pics of the experience. Not sure if this is true iMax or not but maybe. Which scene is it?If it's 3D they're showing the digital 2k or 4k projection. The 70mm prints were 2D only.
There really only one scene in TFA shot on 15perf70. It was awesome to see, but overall your not getting much from missing out besides saying you saw it on film.
Here's a list of all the true IMAX screens in the States: http://www.lfexaminer.com/theausa.htm
You mean $250, right?
The Millennium Falcon sequence on Jakku. Thanks I'm in china. Will post some pics of the experience. Not sure if this is true iMax or not but maybe. Which scene is it?
Titanic ww is a rerelease tho. What does that make tfa?I think it will. Barely but it will. Does make you appreciate the box office dominance of Cameron films. I think Avatar 2 does 2B. WW the man is a Juggernaut.
Yeah, bad math. It has to open in India yet right? But adding the $200M+ for China and then following the same domestic to international ratio as before I think it might eek it out. I don't think it will make $2.4B.
India has opened, and doesnt matter much anyway. Witha 32M first day, there is a decent chance that Star Wars will miss $200M in China.
Cool, it just didn't seem that much more than Domestic but I guess with India an other territories coming in now it should be improving. If TFA gets $940M domestically, it still needs >%57 of its BO to be international to break $2.2B.What ratio are you using? Because in the past days the ratio changed significantly.
