I would say relived. The lack of interest in the Titanic 3D re-release gives me a little bit of more faith in the American movie goer. Not out of anything against Titanic. It's a decent movie. But the 3D re-release trend is just so lazy and awful. If a giant movie like Titanic fails to grab viewers then maybe the studios will get over the 3D re-release hard on they have.

I'm curious about 2 things:

1. Who's going to be #1 this weekend? Titanic or Hunger games?
2. Is Titanic 3D going to have legs?

Remember Titanic opened to $28m. It could easily do similar numbers this weekend. What matters is how it does in week 2, week 3, etc. I wouldn't breath a sigh of relief yet.

And Cheebo, disagree with you on Cameron's film ranking. Titanic is a LOT better than Avatar and definitely not his weakest film.

I actually agree with Cheebo that Titanic is Cameron's weakest film. Though I don't agree with the rest of his rankings.

Like I said in the Titanic thread, the first half of Titanic is Cameron at his absolute weakest, whilst the second half is him firing on all cylinders. Lop off the first half and you have one of Cameron's best flicks.
