Wolf in new Zelda = Link

then...buy...zelda?
Pfft. With Link caring for kittens and transforming into various animals, might as well chalk this up as another furry victory. Do I want to care for kittens? Do I want to transform into various animals? No. I want to swing my sword and save Zelda. Fuck this.

Did you bitch when you turned into a fish or flower in LOZ:MM? Did you bitch when you rescued the dog in OOT? Jesus.

Link collected chickens in OOT. I guess that means the game was about chicken collecting.

Whatever the source, this is interesting. Not too fond of the idea, but still...

And hey, if he couldn't satisfy himself this way, then he'd be telling everyone that he "Knew it all along" after it was announced. He's less of a douche when he just implies things like this.

You know, if you want to talk like that, the only 'straight up' Zelda titles has been the original and Link's Awakening. All the other's had some tool or device/different realm that was used to solve the puzzles, except for 2 which was completely different in every aspect. LTTP: Light World/Dark World. OOT: Ocarina/Time travel. MM = Erm... haven't played, but the moon thing was still pretty gimmicky. WW = the wand. Even in the capcom titles, you had the changing seasons and times, and now the minish cap you have the hat. Link turning into a wolf would just be the next iteration of that. How's that a problem?

Nothing gimmicky about the moon. MM's claim to fame were the various transformations and repeating 3-day mechanic.

Dark in Hyrule, Moon is a wire
Steam on Death Mountain, Triforce is a fire
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do
Zelda you want me, give me a sign
And hear my ocarina melodies even closer behind
Do-do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do, do do

In touch with the ground
Watch out Gannon I’m after you
Smell like the cats, I’m putting them back
And I’m morphing into a wolf
Straddling Epona, filled with discord and rhyme
Watch out Gannon I’m after you
My Bottle is alive filled with juices like wine
And I’m morphing into a wolf

Wasn't this Zelda's director the script guy for MM?

i sure hope so.

MM is my fav zelda game and its cause of the brilliant construction of it. the way the 3 day system worked, the various storylines with NCPs and making me actually care enough to do everything in the game to see every scenario play out coupled with the amazing gameplay u find in TOOT.

He is.

Forgot his name, though.

And my interest level in this title continues to decline at an alarming rate. While I am generally all for the innovation and new takes on established series, we havn't had a straight up Legend of Zelda since Ocarina of Time. So, while this added ability to turn into a werewolf might actually be cool for gameplay, all I really wanted was an honest to god Zelda game. No cel shading, no werewolf abilities, and not taking place in some land called Termina.

I'm all for it. I'm sick of the same old formula over and over. If anything this will spice things up a bit.

:lol Just can't win, can they?

Well...Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game by a pretty wide margin, so anything that attempts to emulate its wackiness/other gameplay innovations is cool by me. I say bring on the transformations. :D

It's amazing, out of all the gdc trailer there is only one scene showing Link with kittens, the rest is full of Link doing a whole lot of ass kicking, and this is the one thing people focus on? the fucking kittens? WOW.

I'd be inclined to have faith...I mean, this is not as bad as Link getting a Desert Eagle...that'd be the Sonic Team version.

Plus, these things don't sound as bad as say...the sailing in WW.

I hope you transform into Cell shaded Link early in the game and once you touch the ground the Cell shading begins to spread through the game world so that you would have to play the rest of the game like that.

I don't like how Link is able to jump in some games, like Adventures of Link and Link's Awakening. Zelda is not about jumping, this isn't Mario. Then I knew Nintendo had officially died when I played Majora's Mask and he jumps super high as a Deku Scrub, then in Wind Waker he's got that leaf. I swear, get with it, Nintendo. I don't want to jump around like a hyperactive child. I want Link to carry a shooting sword like he used to, to have personality and emotions (like angst and more angst), and to ride a motorcycle from the future (it was Ocarina of Time, wasn't it?). Maybe ten years ago this would be possible, but now all hope is lost.

Wolves? As long as they can't jump.

Yay! The game is ruined! Thanks for putting a massive spoiler as the topic name!
Now that you mention it, the Gaming Forum main page is fucking LITTERED with spoilers. Lumines has unlockable skins, Lego Star Wars is straight ballin', Wipeout Pure has a soundtrack, etc etc. INSENSITIVE BASTARDS.

I'm sure the plot in this Zelda game involves a killing spree of which Link if simultaneously unware and the cause.

I smell sarcasm.

agree...atleast about stupid speculations...
But this is actually really interesting speculation and sounds bang on. Did anyone else hear that "new Zelda to feature shape-shifting" chatter around GDC?
I believe that Link will be able to transform into various animal forms throughout the game...
:)

I think the idea is very cool and could turn out great and add a lot of variety to the formula if well implemented.
C´on people, have more faith on EAD! I think they know what they are doing.

I cant believe this game actually has more haters than WW had...it's like people are angry that Miyamoto is giving the fans what they wanted, i suppose some people just prefer to get shat on by developers.

The animal thing sounds interesting, i do remember the previous rumours so this would seem to fit....i wonder how they'll explain it, and if it'll be real animals or their Zelda universe equivilent (the wolf in the movies doesnt look like the wolf like creatures we've seen before in zelda titles).

As for other animals, i cant see them using anything flying for the same reason they never have before, it ruins any platforming puzzles in the game world if you can turn into an 'eagle' (or whatever) and just fly round the map. And you have to wonder what the point of the horse is if theres too many transformations, so i hope it's just the wolf. Then they can explain it by saying link was attacked and has become a werewolf, which no doubt would fit into some local folk lore of a great hero using the curse to save the world, which link would stumble upon in an attempt to cure himself.

I wonder if you'd be able to attack people as a wolf and gnaw on their necks... o_O

hehe. :D

I think it's more likely link will just control the animals though. There's a scene of him with what looks like some sort of forest spirit. Maybe, in order to save the forest from evil or whatever, that spirit gives you a power/device that lets you talk with animals and work with them to solve puzziles and defeat bosses.

Oh and furries are people who are sexually obsessed with animals. Not anybody who is in an animal cosplay or owns a pet. Some of you need professional help. -__-
