Wolfenstein 3 First Story Details Unveiled as Casting Begins

We have come across casting details that further corroborate that the studio is already hard at work on the title. Moreover, this casting call reveals the very first plot details surrounding an entirely new character.

According to a casting call we've recently uncovered, the project's codename (or at least the casting codename) is 'Valkyrie.' Attached to it are two people who previously worked on several MachineGames titles, being Performance Director Tom Keegan and Casting Director Emily Schweber. Keegan is fresh off directing the performances in the studio's last game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, while Schweber helped shape the cast of the previous Wolfenstein entries.

The casting calls for the role of a character named Sofiya, which might or might not be a reference to the character Zofia Blazkowicz, mother of William "B.J." Blazkowicz, the protagonist of the franchise.

This new character is described as a Ukrainian orphan between the ages of 8 and 11 who, alongside her adopted dog Ralph, is said to form a bond with William and accompany him on his travels. So, in case there was any doubt, it's safe to assume the beloved Nazi-stomping protagonist is returning.

The description also gives us a glimpse into Sofiya's background, noting that, 'While initially suspicious and traumatized by war, she blooms under the care of the resistance (possibly referring to the Kreisau Circle) as a strong-willed survivor.' It might be a bit of a long shot, but given the heavy emphasis placed on her role, we could be gearing up for a The Last of Us-esque dynamic where B.J. takes on a protector role. Especially since we know B.J. is becoming a father in this timeline, taking a young orphan under his wing feels like a natural progression for his character.

Lastly, the casting call notes that performance capture is scheduled to kick off in April, with additional shooting dates planned for later in 2026 and extending into 2027.

The shooting in the second game was so odd, I don't know how to explain it, it was like it wanted you to hide behind cover and run and gun at the same time. It was like half Call of Duty and half Doom. They gotta get that fixed because the game was mostly excellent.

Really enjoyed the first few games in this series. One thing I hope they fix is the way they notify the player they are low on health or are taking hits. From memory, the second game wasn't great at this and it led to tons of unexpected deaths for me. It's one of those things I never thought about until playing that and it was incredibly frustrating.

Alan Ritchson should be/voice Blazkowicz. And it better not be a "passing of the torch" game, or I'm out. Tired of that crap.

Thank you for mentioning this. I thought I was crazy because no one else seemed to be bothered about the gun play. I genuinely thought it was a "me" problem.

Checks out. Gotta replace him with the daughter of course... ☠️
There will be two daughters. And a woman. The woman will raise the daughters as Blazkowicz is incapable of such deeds. The woman will most likely be a lesbian and probably a communist. Blazkowicz will die with a bang but doing a sacrifice that is ultimately meaningless.

yeah I felt the same way about both games. It's why I enjoyed them but I didn't love them.
It all felt a bit disjointed to me, like some of the stuff that should have been cool was undermined by the design. The game will be like "double shotguns baby, rip and tear!!!" but then everything about the design and gameplay is telling me "you should stay behind cover and methodically take down enemies from afar".

The new colossus was so much worse than the new order. Shooting was worse, level design was worse, story was worse. Hopeful for a 3rd one though.

It also has a lot of stealth sections. The game trains you to fight aggressive but demands you peak corners to survive.

You always feel a little discomfort, because you feel like you can't quite get a grip on how to optimally play it.

Few reviews touched upon it, but if you ask players, they usually agree that there is something odd with how MachineGames makes these games.

The story in the first of the new games falls off a cliff so hard, and the level design, too. I didn't even finish it.

Futuretech Jewish Scientist Guy: we didn't want to use it for violence, this was supposed to be about our relationship with God.

BJ: We should use it for violence tho.

Futuretech Jewish Scientist Guy: Good idea.

And then the sewer level that keeps dumping audio logs, the laziest form of videogame storytelling, on you, because the devs couldn't figure out a good way to actually integrate that stuff into the game.
And there was something off about the part where you have to jump into the chopper. It felt like it was scripted for you to jump at exactly a certain angle, and if you didn't, you'd fall, no matter how far you actually jumped.

Just in general the back half of that game needed more time and thought.

And then I watched that cutscene with the nazi in the diner or whatever from the second game, that people were gushing over, and it was just a not that great ripoff of Inglorious Basterds.

Idunno, hopefully the new one's good, but I won't be holding my breath.

We'll see what happens (Indiana Jones was good), but I'm kinda fatigued on the "pass the torch" progression for franchises, if that's what they ultimately go with.

At that point, I'd rather you just make a new thing, because usually the new Protags are regularly watered-down versions of the thing you used to love.

It's crazy to me that they don't seem to get why people love New Order/Old Blood. I hated how New Colossus turned out and we really don't need to talk about the disaster that was YoungBlood. I will be cautious, but unless it looks like an improvement, I won't be there day one this time.

I agree came here to say the same thing. New colossus was terrible. The shooting in the games is not amazing so the story is important and New Colossus was not good. Way too goofy.

I also felt like the gunplay was worse for some reason. It's crazy that they have Doom and Doom eternal which are like perfect console
Shooters and the Wolfenstein series feels so bad. I know it's a different studio but they are working under id software.

Some of the moments in Wolf 2 are batshit insane.

Hopefully we keep getting that stuff.

I liked gunplay and difficulty spikes. Was satisfying to overcome.

Wow, a game franchise that had a male protag for decades all of a sudden having females take the center stage. So original, groundbreaking, and unique. Can't wait for Blazkowicz to be permanently replaced by ugly, obnoxious girlbosses like in that shitty spinoff, but for the rest of the franchise going forward.
