Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus trailer (PC/XB1/PS4, Oct 27th, idtech6), season pass

Oh, you are in for a treat my friend.

Do you mean the chameleon? I have no idea but I hope that's legit in the game and there's more than just that.

From the 7min mark upwards, some of it looks CGish, but I dunno. First one I bought on PS4, but sticking to PC this time.

" Gameplay" shown near the end is clearly CG, right? Looked too good to my eyes.

Id Tech 6 is really good. Probably touched up a little, but it's going to be very close I think.

If you can, view it at 60fps for the full effect of what it'll be like (and much higher on PC).

The story and acting are too good for an FPS. The New Order had some of the best voice acting I've seen in a game, and this looks like it's going to top that. Too bad I get nausea playing FPS these days.

right?!! It always annoyed me how it didn't get enough credit for that either.

If it's Id Tech 6 it should be very doable. DOOM looked really great and just the baseline of a better engine should be a huge improvement over the first game. They still made a great looking game to me on ID tech 5

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Never played Wolfenstein. But this trailer looked really good. Is it worth checking out New Order and Old blood? How do they hold up?

Both are great, New Order in particular. Its design is reminiscent of Valve's work with Half-Life 2: strictly linear and set piece driven, with a strong momentum of progress across a huge diversity of locations, blending action with first-person-cutscenes and more mellow traversal/stealth sequences. The shooting is satisfying and exciting with excellent impact feedback in the form of splatter and gore. And best of all, the writers remarkably balance a Tarantino-esque tongue-in-cheek serious with legitimate introspective emotional beats across its cast, and a somber commentary on its premise. It fully embraces its ludicrous presentation, relishes in ultraviolence, and unashamedly glorifies the mass murder of Nazis. Yet does this with a deeply human protagonist mumbling emotionally genuine monologues, and presents its characters with authenticity in writing, performances, and characterisation that is not just rare in the genre, but super unusual for the kind of game it is.

Old Blood skewers more heavily towards the absurd via Nazi occult as a homage to the series roots, but retains the same design and writing philosophies of its predecessor and has similarly emotionally evocative moments.

Both are worth playing.

"When I was a kid, we had a monster in our basement. My father said if I'd done wrong it'd creep out at night and come for me. I tried to do no wrong. But the monster came all the same."

That... was... amazing. Words can scant express how excited I am. The New Order is one of my all-time faves and has such an amazing narrative. Love that it's continuing that narrative and that BJ is back as 'Terror Billy'.

And he's gonna be a daddy! And we get one of the all-time best video game couples, Billy and Anya! And they're gonna be parents!

So, was that
Fergus
and
Wyatt
in that trailer? I wonder how that works.

Plus you're wearing the
Da'at Yichud suit
so it looks like you're getting some Crysis-like abilities in this one.

What's that thing around BJ's neck?

It's the
Da'at Yichud suit
from The New Order.

This is some of the punchiest gunplay I've seen in a game and I'm pretty sure I just made up that phrase.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
A Digital Deluxe Edition has been added to the game's Steam page. No info on what it contains, though, but considering the $20 premium, maybe an expansion?

* looks up "punchiest gunplay" *

Huh. It says Wolfenstein next to it.

I hope they do a Collector's Edition that actually includes the game this time.

OMG I completely forgot about that!

I absolutely loved the first game, but I think we could be looking at an Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2 style leap here.

I'm probably getting a bit ahead of myself, but I seriously believe this may go down as one of the all-time great FPS games.

Everything about the trailer oozed quality.

TNO is a masterclass in tone. Machine Games are such a talented bunch to somehow balance the ludicrousness of Nazi mechs, tounge in cheek and jewish mystic technology with the genuine human sorrow that comes hand in hand with Nazi atrocities.

I struggle to think of any developer that'd have the balls to even attempt it let alone pull it off.

Looking back on TNO, I think MachineGames have really found their identity here. It makes that game look like they played it safe.

I cannot fucking wait, and the fact that it's on idTech6 makes me so excited. Billy-boy, Anya, Set, my boy Fergus and a bunch of new Resistance characters. Oh and Wyatt I guess.

Gonna stealth my way through this as much as I can and then do a second playthrough guns blazing.

FUCK, this looks awesome. Despite loving the characters, I never liked BJ's thick southern drawl, and now there's more of them, but the gameplay looks to be more of the frenetic perfection of the original, and the 70s vibe is pretty badass.

I really hope we get a modern port of Wolfenstein 2009.

The original game was one of the greatest surprises I've ever had with.... any game honestly. Machine games really capture the spirit of the starbreeze games while at the same time totally doubling down on great gunplay. Wolfenstein shouldn't be this great but it bloody well is. Can't wait!

You know a trailer's good when you fully expected it, had high expectations for it, and it still blew you away. Goddamn, they know what they had with New Order and they're making damn sure they prove it. Absolutely excellent looking, and even including extra touches like having options for Fergus and Wyatt timelines in this game? This year's been packed with amazing games, but if New Colossus is anywhere near New Order's level then it'll be an immediate GOTY contender.

I hope one chapter is dedicated to BJ trying to sit down and have a frank and honest discussion with the Nazi's.
