Saudia Arabia is perhaps the most backward place on the face of the earth.

This is considered progress ...

(First restaurant run by women)

Just horrible what is done to women over there.

Well, it is something like 45~46 degrees in SA right now. Probably just need to wrap up. Health and safety too. Why worry about hair nets when you can just dress like this! mantappinghead.gif

Photos like that are always incredibly dehumanising, but it's arguably just as bad seeing the witch hunt unfold for the woman in the OP.

From BBC

The religious police, the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, meanwhile wrote on Twitter that it had been made aware of the video and was in contact with the relevant authorities.

In the video initially shared on Snapchat over the weekend, Khulood is seen walking along an empty street in a fort at Ushayqir Heritage Village, about 155km (96 miles) north of the capital Riyadh, in Najd province.

Najd is one of the most conservative regions in Saudi Arabia. It was where the founder of Wahhabism - the austere form of Sunni Islam that is practised by the Saudi royal family and religious establishment - was born in the late 18th Century.

I kinda want to preserve this post for the next USGaf "Woman showed her boobs/too much skin/ass "hanging out" outrage thread.

There are threads like that? Might wanna give receipts.
Also: Sure with the rise of more fundamentalist religious beliefs in parts of the US, you will definitely find the same type of folks trying to wind the clock back a couple of thousand years to satisfy their old holy book (and as a side effect get their women to behave again damnit!) but at least those beliefs are not federal law yet last time I checked.

I just checked the current temperature for Saudi Arabia ( as of 11:35 am) and it's currently 45 degree Celsius. That is hot, not warm hot, but hot hot.

I still can't believe the backwardness in the country right now. All I can say is that the women must suffer a lot wearing those clothes.

If only they put as much effort into serious economic problems and existential threats like climate change as they do into monitoring what women can and cannot wear.

Well I guess one positive from climate change is that it might make Saudi Arabia completely unlivable, forcing the populace to diffuse to other countries where Wahhabism won't fly.

Saudi conservatives would probably have an Ulcer if they knew what young Saudis do here in Bahrain.

A Saudi prince is accused of engaging in a gay-sex act, threatening a woman's life and demanding that an assistant fart in his face while others watched ?

Say what?! titles/articles aside, the rich and powerful men of SA often travel around the world (America usually) to engage in drinking/fornication/gambling and other things they cannot do in SA. Imagine that, men with power/money being insanely hypocritical. Patriarchal societies are rife with one set of rules for the women, whilst the men get to do whatever the fuck they want. Or like above, the loophole often is as long as they travel to America/Europe to get their game on, it's fine to then return home and be the morality/ethics police.

Is it a ninja themed restaurant? Fking stupid that UN woman rights group is headed by these backwards shitbags

Absolutely insane.
Wasn't there a thread not long ago where some people argued SA being rather good when it comes to women's rights? I guess I'm remembering wrong.

Can someone with knowledge (I know you're out there) tell me about what specific laws are in place regarding stuff like this?
What restrictions are in place, what are the actual fines/punishments?

Why do you think they are spreading that shit to as many countries as possible...

Crazy this is considered controversial, religion is used to justify the dumbest bullshit.

Absolutely insane.

Are you thinking of this thread: European Court of Human Rights: Ban on Muslim full-face veil legal ? Because the amount of people in that thread defending the "freedom" to wear full face veils is disgusting.

I'm not talking about the Royal Family though, I'm talking about regular middle class people. I once dated a Saudi woman that would let her driver drive her across the Saudi causeway, then she bribed him to take the car so she can take off her Hijab and drive in Bahrain.

The Wahhabi establishment in Saudi know about what the Royals do, but there's nothing they can do about it, I'm not sure if they're aware what regular people do in Bahrain though.

EDIT: Even normal families have to drive here just so they can watch movies, since Cinema is not allowed in Saudi.

They've got to know what is going on, but like all loopholes, they probably just care more about what they can enforce in their immediate surroundings.

Can you imagine if she decided to walk in there in a swimsuit, or hell, had sex in that place?

SA would be looking at killing her own family at this point.

That's true, and my connection to those is indeed wrong. I'm sorry, I didn't really think that comment through.

The loopholes are absurd, there are Saudi produced TV Shows that feature Saudi women with no Hijab acting like normal women, and those shows air inside Saudi Arabia, they just film a lot of them in Kuwait. The system in Saudi just doesn't make sense, the religious police have their own separate power structure that is independent of the government, so they get to enforce their stupid laws, but since they are separate from the larger Saudi authority, they don't have power over Saudi entertainment. So a convoluted contradictory message is sent, where Saudi women see Saudi women being normal on TV, but they can never have a normal life themselves.

Sadly America is fine with SA spreading wahhabism because oil and money!

But hey SA wants to fight terrorism and is on the committee for women's rights. Lol capitalism > rights

Dont mind the men when they drive over to another country to participate in illicit activities with foreign sex slaves. Nothing to see there.

What a backwards country, how are womens rights so years behind over there? I hope she gets out, not that she should have to, but the punishment for stuff like that over there is beyond over kill. Saudi arabia is the one country worse than the US when it comes to fear of the human body.
