A FAN who stalked the lead singer of Linkin Park was able to access his mobile phone voice messages and obtain a copy of the band's recording contract.
Devon Townsend, 28, pleaded guilty to charges including stalking and unlawful access to stored communications in a New Mexico court today, the Associated Press reported.
Townsend said she used government computers to access private information about musician Chester Bennington and his wife between January and November last year.
Court documents said police found Linkin Park posters, pictures of Townsend with Bennington and copies of emails and photographs intercepted from the Bennington family's personal email accounts in a search of Townsend's house, the AP said.
On one occasion, Townsend travelled interstate to try to see the singer and monitored his phone messages to pinpoint his social engagements.
In another incident, investigators claimed Townsend hacked into the email account of Bennington's wife Talinda, a former Playboy model, and threatened her.
Townsend said she accessed the Benningtons' personal information while working at Sandia National Laboratories and had intercepted Linkin Park's recording contract with Warner Bros and cheques sent from the record label, according to the AP report.
Talinda is Bennington's second wife. They have a son named Tyler Lee. Bennginton also has a child from his first marriage, Draven Sebastian, which ended in 2005.
A victim of sexual abuse at a young age, Bennington struggled with drug addiction as a teenager before joining Linkin Park in 1999. The band signed to Warner Bros in 2000.
YOU'RE BEHIND THIS DIABLOS, I KNOW IT!
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat youuuuuuuuuuuu've doooooooooooone.
