I think it's like calling the US "Texas" or something, which is a region within the Netherlands. Sadly, we still call it Holland in Arabic, and I think in many other languages do so. Calling it "The Low Lands" isn't really fun as well.
Every time I meet an American calling The Netherlands "Holland", I for ever and ever refer to their country as "Dakota". Because you know, there's north and south Dakota just like there's Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland.
For more historic education, have they been one part then united?
TBF: Most do. Even in german speaking countries Holland is used way more frequently than Niederlande.Every time I meet an American calling The Netherlands "Holland", I for ever and ever refer to their country as "Dakota". Are you not supposed to take off your shirt when celebrating a goal? What's so bad about that? The more man nipples the merrier, I say.
I see! Was this so much a problem in the past that they feel like they needed to make a rule? It seems fine to me.It's considered time wasting, same would be if you take off a shoe while celebrating. I think FIFA should reconsider that as it doesn't really take that much time to wear it again. This law only suppresses enthusiasm.

Why they don't stop the timer when ball is not in play like in other sports? Serious question, I'm not into football.
The stoppage time at the end of each half is meant to account for this. The amount of time added is relative to the amount of time play was stopped. Why they don't stop the timer when ball is not in play like in other sports? Serious question, I'm not into football.
There’s a theory that goes that it was banned so that in club football the shirt sponsor is prominently displayed when the player is celebrating a goal. Since that image is probably going to be the one featured on newspapers and broadcasts the sponsor wants to make sure they’re featured in those moments. Are you not supposed to take off your shirt when celebrating a goal? Hey sorry - didnt mean to upset our Dutch friendsHolland.
Don't blame Uruguay.Uruguay salty AF. Always drama when they’re playing. Good to see them out. Doubt Aus will beat Argentina but I’ll still cheer them on.

I get that but why just not stop the clock every time the ball is not in play? Like you know, in basketball for example. I'm sure that would be more accurate than someone adding 3,4,7 minutes at the end.
TV made by dogshit Chinese company, watch brand is tacky for rappers and people with no taste. There is stoppage time at the end. It was usually around 5-7min max but seems like it has been amplified in the World Cup:

Sponsors look as solid as the organising country.
Good point, but I meant Hisense at the bottom, I assume they are the manufacturer and the sponsor. You mean the bands you see on screen? That's when the screen is 60Hz like most TV's around and you're shooting it with a shutter speed higher than 1/50s like 99% of the time. That's shot probably with a cameraman that they tend to shoot at 1/1000-1/2000s shutter speed to freeze action with a rolling shutter sensor.
What are you the duke of orange or something.Hell yeah Netherlands let's go.

Funny the next world cup will be the opposite with Mexico, Canada and U.S. as organizersThey are solid though, let's not forget that most electronics are made in China. The alternative would be paying the same and getting less resolution (bigger LED's). The amount of money Qatar has spent for the World Cup will not be topped in our lifetime.
Above all of that, metros and buses are free. The good thing about this compact area is fans from all over the world get to meet and interact with each other and you can watch way more matches than possible.
I think it's the best world cup so far IMOH.
Pure pain. When the US are playing something called soccer and the Dutch are playing real football.
