Any soccer experts know why in penalty kicks the player shouldnt just shoot at the goalie knowing he'll either dive left or right?

I dont watch soccer a lot, but I cant remember the last time a player kicked the ball straight on and the goalie literally guessed right by standing there too.

I don’t know how they do it in soccer but I’ve seen players go down the middle in association football quite a few times.

Power and placement is the key for penalties in FOOTBALL, especially in a deciding shoot out. If all the takers shoot down the middle, the opposing keeper will soon figure this out. Better to take a powerful placement shot, but also ensure the placements are mixed.

For a single penalty in FOOTBALL (handball in the box in normal time for example). I'd always suggest driving it down the middle, or if you're brave and have the skills go for a panenka shot.

Some say if you score a panenka, you steal part of the goalkeepers soul.

Honestly, that's a really terrible penalty call. Wtf is that defender supposed to do when opponent comes from behind and in a blink of an eye puts his foot in front. Stop his kick?
