*thread stops here.
G-Fex said:"lets get out of here on the airship and that's the end of that, who cares if the world's fucked up as long as we killed kefka." The end.
Razoric said:The thread should have stopped at Halo 2.

...probably my favorite ending of all time. :\

FiRez said:I really liked the ending of Halo 2 because....
The fucking trainwreck that this game represents at least ended, I could not stand that Bungie ruined so much the name of Halo so I was happy that it ended in that way.
But the worst ending was the end of Halo: Combat evolved because it ended![]()
:cries
dark10x said:They didn't ruin a damn thing. Lemme guess, you wanted the "earth invasion" shit, didn't you? :\
FiRez said:No, I just wanted a campaign mode that was at least at the same level of the first game, but no!
Poor Bungie couldn't raise their "own" bar. (It seems that 7 members that left bungie to found Wideload really hurted the overall quality of the H2 SP mode)
Still the MP isn't bad, I still play it.

I think it raises the whole other issue of having to spend $50 (or $60 if you bought the collector's edition) twice just to play 1 story arc. Now that's fucking annoying.
Yeah, Halo 2 has the worst ending this generation by far.
dark10x said:This isn't like Shenmue or something, where you reach the (amazing) ending of part 2 and realize that you may never actually see the end to this tale. Halo 3 will be made and, if you enjoyed 2, I don't think you'll have any problems at all shelling out another $50.
Well, your other post made it seem as if this were actually a money issue. You're simply disappointed (as all of us were) that the game was left so...wide open.Nerevar said:Oh of course I'm going to buy part 3, doesn't mean that I'm a little annoyed that they essentially split the story arc up like they did. I would've liked a little more conclusion to Halo 2 than what they did. It was a Matrix-Reloaded quality ending (i.e. nonexistent), but the game was fun enough that it didn't ruin the experience. Half Life 2 was similar, but not as jarring. I guess it all boils down to what you enjoy out of your games though. I would never refuse to recommend a game simply because I didn't like the ending.
dark10x said:I thought it was quite an improvement over the original campaign (though I suppose I actually place them on about the same level). I don't know what your problem with the game was.

1. None of the stages in Halo 2 were as good as the best stages in Halo: CE. Every map in Halo 2 followed the A to B to C map design of almost every FPS. The Halo: CE stages Halo, Silent Cartographer, and AOTCR had a bunch of ways of doing things differently whether it was the order of rescuing marines in Halo, to the way you went through silent cartographer, or if you chose to steal the banshee in ATOCR.
None of that was in Halo 2. The closest was do I go over the bridge in a Tank or a Warthog.
2. Why can't I jack this banshee on Delta Halo? I mean really!?!? WTF!
3. Invisible Walls!?!?!?!

Halo 2 was a really great game, though. Your own personal expectations can prevent it from seeming like it, though...btw Dark10x I don't know what you mean by hyping but if you play a really great game and the dev makes the sequel you at least expect another really great game.
flarkminator said:I have prevented every person I know from playing that game because the twist is just..that..lame. I tell them I'm going to ruin the game, I explain the twist. Without fail every person has said to me "thats lame, thanks for warning me." And they never play the game.
Why do you keep mentioning Halo CE, though? The PC version totally ruined some of the flow of the original game...
LakeEarth said:Lets list all of these newer games that have incomplete "get ready for the sequel!" endings but bombed so hard they probably won't get one.
Beyond Good & Evil
Psychonauts
Psi-Ops
Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy
Really dumb.
