Worst Game of the Year?

You're right, it's the best game ever.

:rolleyes

I was asking a legitimate question of you. I'd like to know what you thought of Deadly Alliance, so I can see how much I'll agree or disagree with your opinion of the game when I get to play it myself, and possibly be prepared for a disappointment.

Or am I just wasting my time? :P

Oops, someone forgot to specifically ask for the WORST games and not just the most DISAPPOINTING games. Hence all the worthless trolling.

Actually, to be fair, the thread does specifically ask for the worst games, but without including this clarification, people are naturally going to come in and troll it up.

I don't play many terrible games myself, but Shrek 2 on GameCube is pretty worthless. It's unfun, repetitive, has loose controls, and is full of game-crippling bugs. There are some neat ideas (four-player cooperative) but the game doesn't execute.

And I'll throw in my vote for The Guy Game, too. It takes a special developer to fuck up trivia AND porn at the same time.

If you liked Deadly Alliance, you are wasting your time. Though I think Deception is even worse than DA, I think both games are terrible fighters.

MVP is the worst? Uh.

A baseball game that has a homerun bug for lefties and broken dynasty play is shit. It's just straight up shit that got good reviews by people who don't know shit about baseball or baseball games.

The worst game I played this year was Tales of Symphonia. Giving GAF hype the benefit of the doubt, I gave Tales twenty hours of my life, and those are twenty hours I'll never get back.

Weak "real-time" RPGs where 75% of the game is played by the AI all need to die.

virtual on marz made me very sad. i'm sure there were worse games this year, but i haven't played them.

edit: wait, maybe that came out last year. but i played it this year, anyway.

Lots of stuff, front mission 4, street fighter anniversary, gungrave, katamari, samurai/dynasty warriors, metroid prime, ffta, etc. There was a time where I would only buy JRPG's and SRPG's, but times are changing. Both Tales (except the battle system) and Disgaea (except the art) were majorly flawed games.
Well, you get some points for the Katamari love, but liking FFTA (which sucked) and disliking Disgaea (which rocked) makes me scratch my head.

Oh well, different strokes and what not.

Anyway, I personally haven't bought any games thus far this year that I really didn't like. I guess I have a better sense of what I will and won't like than most.

Doom 3 is the worst game I've played this year.

I thought it was spectacularly bad as well, but everyone believes I am high. (They're just trying to justify their PC graphics hardware upgrades)

Lefties hit less HR's, yes. It's a stupid bug that should've been fixed. But sorry, unless you planned on playing 600 games in Dynasty mode, you aren't going to see the other "problem". The game just plays the best of all the baseball games put out last year. MLB was decent for a change, ASB sucked as always and ESPN was a joke. You might be disappointed, sure, but saying it's the worst game last year makes you look like a fucking idiot.

Sword of Mana Unless that was 2003...regardless it deserves continued ridicule.

Dissapointments:

Nightshade
Doom 3
Tales of Symphonia
Sly 2

Probably a few more I am forgetting that didn't please me.

If it's disappointing, it's crap. There is no difference.

No, that's not true at all...

This year, for example, I was VERY disappointed with MGS-The Twin Snakes...but it certainly isn't crap (far from it). They are not one and the same...

I totally agree, why in the world would you want to waste time getting so many pokemon? They're is already 13 boxs you can fill up in the game itself, why you would want more is beyond me.
You can select vast amounts of pokemon at a time and transfer a pokedex-sized collection from one game to the other without using the one-at-a-time crap between a GBA link.

The game I enjoyed the least this year was Guilty Gear Isuka.

Definitely a disappointment, and yet I'll probably still get the XBox version for online play. :\ (yes, something IS wrong with me ^_^)

MGS Twin Snakes was a bit disappointing, and definitely Doom 3, but I think a lot of people expected that game to be a let down; there were plenty of "I can't wait until someone makes a good game out of the Doom 3 engine!" posts before the game's release. Another game I got and quickly sold of was Tales Of Symphonia....it's just not for me. And for arcade releases, the Rumblefish was...less than stellar.

And in the "newly unveilved games that look disappointing" category, it's Capcom Fighting Jam. I wasn't expecting to see ANOTHER "all-star-let's-reuse-old-characters-again" fighter filled with the same old sprites and no new characters after a three-year fighting game hiatus from Capcom. This is not to say I'm already hating the game; I'm sure it will play well and I'm definitely importing it this December, but it's a let down seeing another rehash fighter. The King Of Fighters Neowave is the same way.

Brandon F, why was Nightshade a let down for you?

MarkRyanIGN, that's cool...if you hated the last MK game too, there's definitely a difference in opinion here. :)

I said it was one of the worst games I've played. You didn't have to play 600 games to get the Dynasty bug, Lefties hit MANY less home runs (even though many of the best power hitters in the game are lefties) and you couldn't draw a walk to save your life. I'm sorry if baseball is the one simulated game I pay a lot of attention to, but those factors make it shit to me. Yes, it was very pretty and if it did not ship with all these errors I would agree it was able to play a good game of baseball. The prettiness seem to have given it good scores and a place in your heart. I hope it ships in better shape next year and you'll find me praising it as well. The throwing meters, extras, stadiums, etc. were all really cool.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Doom 3

Anyone can name shit like Catwoman and Guy Game and walk off easy. Doom and FFCC were hyped and suppose to be good, and are the 2 worst purchases ive made this year because I was expecting a quality product and got a totally boring shit game to play.

Worst game I bought this year? Tales of symphonia. Yes, I'm serious.

I'd reccomend you stop playing RPGs, kind sir.

As for worst games, to be fair I don't have enough time to play all the good games, so I really don't get around to the bad ones. So I couldn't tell ya.

it looks like 50% or more of the answers here are just pure trolling. worst game I have played? dunno, probably something on xbox as I play most of my games on that console or some obscure pc game that I simple can't remember right now.

Okay, I just remembered a "high profile" game to put as my worst game of the year pick: Panic Maker (Under The Skin).

Boring crap...couldn't even get through the first level before I turned it off. What the hell happened, Capcom?

Of the games i've played,
I really did not care for X-Men Legends much

Although, I did play Astro Boy for.. PS2!! That takes the cake right there

disappointing != bad

if you think Doom 3 is the worst of the games thats come out this year you are either

1. a leet id hater
2. just pissed that you bought a $500 video card
3. haven't played many games this year
4. love getting attention on a message board

there are many, MANY games that suck 100x over Doom3, and I'm not even a big Doom 3 fan.

Drake and the 99 Dragons.

It's Superman 64 all over again.

Has anyone played Drake? Who the hell made this game? There's not one redeeming thing about it.

That I've actually played? Easy.

Driv3r.
Catwoman.
Spiderman 2 PC.

These three titles all suck the corn from my shit and the developers responsible owe me for wasted time. Absolute drek.

Fable - People actually found this crap fun? o_O

for about 2 minuets, then it was over.

Worst game I played this year.....hmmm

CoH or Fable....I haven't played a lot of new games this year...or at least remeber them. Both CoH started out good but in CoH case the game had promise but quickly truned to doo doo espcially post issue 2. Fable for something hyped that much, it really was disappointing.

No wait I got it.....SNK Vs Capcom:Chaos...that came out this year in Japan right?
