Six Feet Under in a smallish local venue last year.
I expected Barnes to be stoned out of his mind, so no surprise there, but the band in general sucked hard. "Hammer Smashed Face" wasn't even recognizable most of the time. Additionally, they played for like 40 minutes and two of the announced supports didn't even play at all. Never again.

Best, I don't know. Of the more recent ones, Arkona were awesome, as were Blind Guardian, Dritte Wahl and The Vintage Caravan in Wacken.

Saw The National like 2 years back and it was easily the most boring fucking show I've ever been to. They have the on-stage charisma of a sedated sloth, and the whole crowd was just awkwardly swaying like those dumb blow-up swaying dudes outside of used car shops.

I don't think they're meant to be listened to in arenas/stadiums/anything other than, like, a super intimate venue.

You were totally wrong, they were amazing at The Greek theater a few weeks ago. You just don't appreciate depressing music.
