This thread also comes from an idea by a sleep deprived OutrageousFacts OutrageousFacts lol. There's been some crazy rumor about the PS5 costing 800 dollars and while that's certainly bullshit, assume for a second that the tech inside it justifies that price tag and they roll with it. SEX costs 780 bucks because Phil is one clever devil. We go from $399 for the PS4 to double that for the PS5. Would you do it?

No matter how silly you find the question, please answer it truthfully and maybe post why yes/no. PC masturbators spend more than that anyway to play Katawa Shoujo, so are consoles destined for that price range? And if so, are you there?

Lmao are you fucking insane? The same types of games we've been playing since the PS3 era with slightly better graphics than now. NO!!!

Given the current pandemic, a lot of currencies are weak against the USD. That means a large majority of the PS population will be looking down the barrel of an $800 console regardless. This is such a bad time to be releasing a high end luxury console lol.

Already cost me a pretty penny to get with the crew to stop the truck in the first place, no way am i paying extra for the merchandise too.

No, but I would drop that much on a new CPU or GPU for my PC in a heartbeat. Consoles just arent that cool ultimately.

Fuck no. The $400 PS4 is the most I've every paid for a console. I think I paid $450 or something for a 360, but that was for a bundle deal with 5 games at the time.

That said, I'd be very surprised if it's more that $500 for the disc version and some lower amount for the digital. I can live with that, but maybe not at launch if there aren't enough games in the launch window. I was pretty let down by the PS4 library of next gen exclusives the first year plus and would rather not repeat that. They money isn't a big deal to my budget, just silly to buy early if I'm going to have a year plus of mainly playing last gen games or cross gen games as someone that's not that fussed about graphics etc.

My limit for the PS5 is $999.99 (not including tax and shipping).

EDIT:

My limit is in regard to only the MSRP, not inflated prices by scalpers.

My backlog is laughably gigantic so I could wait for a price drop. If there's one thing I'm not hurting for it's new games to play.

No. And I'm really thinking for this gen to wait a little and maybe to get. a collector edition for once.

100% physcial BC with all previous PS consoles, yes, easily. Just PS4 BC........maybe at some point after a price drop.

No on principle.

Besides, Sony's first party is hit and miss for me, with more misses than hits of late. I can get my third party fix cheaper (and potentially better) elsewhere.

EDIT: principle/principal, I can never keep those straight

Hell fucking no. If they go over $500 on any model they're smoking that crack pipe, it won't sell very well even at $550. History has shown over and over and over and OVER again that people are most likely to buy a console at launch if it's $399 or less. Sony and Microsoft could pull off $499 and sell out their initial stock but it'll slow down after that.
