WoW Open Beta

ok... so, this is the open beta download and not the final stress test dl? So I dont need to pay for this, or do I? Im sooo lost, someone please lay it out for me!
 
Final Stress Test- Right now... only fileplanet subscribers can get it.
Open Beta- In one week, free for all and everyone.

I just finished d/l'ing. Installing now. Got my account creation done (did it before i started d/l earlier today). So hopefully, i'll be watching that opening cinematic in just a few moments.

The current download at FP is the Stress Test Final, which acts as a stress test and a 1 week (?) preview for Open Beta. You need to be a FP subscriber to download and get a Stress Test Final account. If you do that, you will have your characters and stuff for Open Beta. Open Beta will be free, but you will have to get an account from either Blizzard's website or File Planet. I'm guessing that FP will have a premium FP subscriber Open Beta Client download that's much faster than Blizzard's and the normal FP servers (obviously). check the

Best I can tell it's for both but if you don't get a strest test key from FileBroken you'll have to wait until open starts to sign up for a key then.

First thing you get is a patch. Yay, more d/l'ing. Doesn't look like it'll be too long. Correction: Small patch.
 
Heard that they won't implement things like the paladin talants and racial traits till the closed beta, so it will probably be mostly general stuff being added for the stress.

I was able to get in the site and sign up my account. Just waiting to finish downloading.

What is everyone planning to play as? I'm thinking of being a horde warlock, but haven't decided on race. Also I wonder if there is a PVP-like server for the stress?
 
Few things before I go dive in for an extended time:

-Opening movie is in
-After Create-A-Char you're treated to a short cutscene dealing with your race
-Pixel Shader effects are IN!!! They look sweet!
-Night actually looks like NIGHT!!!! They've darkened the night lighting a bit.

once the open beta starts I was planning on making an undead warlock with enchanting and tailoring.

also have a couple questions I haven't come across is reading about this.

how many professions are you allowed to have? Do the minor professions count towards your professions? They were even called 'lesser' so I would hope not.

do races do much other than starting location? Like can say... undead breath under water? (or not breath, as it were...)

Racial traits are in the next patch. Undead is currently the only race with traits so far. Currently, they can breath under water, and are immune to charm/sleep/fear. I wouldn't expect the rest of the race's traits to be that good, as the undead traits are offset by weaknesses to paladins/clerics. Undead traits could also be changed, modified, whatever. Who knows.
 
so you get two professions of your choice and then... what... all of the minor professions?
 
I believe you're only allowed 2 professions and can learn all the lesser ones. I believe only undead has racial traits atm (yes, underwater breathing is one of them). The other races will have their traits on open beta.

I'm in the same boat. I feel screwed. :-( Can someone post a link the REAL file that I need to download? So then I can have it downloaded and ready for when they actually start signup for Open Beta. :)
 
I was also convinced it wasn't the right file? I canceled my torrent download and now it seems neither the torrent link nor the .exe link work anymore?

Well shit at this rate by the time Fileplanet sends out the rest of the keys it'll be over with. Waiting over 7 hours for the key isn't winning me over to not cancel my account. Even when we do get them it seems atleast half the servers are sending courpt files or just already died going by the gamespy forums. They gave out the same 100,000 keys in the last strest test and getting one and getting it downloaded wasn't nothing like this.
 
So the answer is... nobody knows.

The client available on the various torrents and the one on fileplanet are one and the same. If you canceled your download on that ultra fast torrent earlier - I feel sorry for you. Have fun waiting 20 hours to recieve your link to download it off FP.

Btw, the CG intro rocks.
 
I don't plan on paying FP to play in the stress test.

Yes. There will just be a big patch that everyone has to download to update to open beta.
 
I almost forgot how addicting this is. I've got my Warlock up to level 5 and I would play more, but I have to get my homework done for tomorrow. I still need to make a Horde character. I haven't tried that yet.
 
is there any way to get back on the torrent then? seeing as the previous link no longer works...

I am so ticked at Fileplanet. They suckered me into to paying for a subscription, and now none of my confirmation emails are coming.

I haven't heard a peep from their support people. But I did get a payment confirmation from Paypal.

All I want is my goddamn key!

i'm getting about 31k down/28k up on the torrent from the first post and i have 28 hours left on the download.
 
wtf ive downloaded the fileplanet rar TWICE and both times its been corrupted?




edit: apparently winrar says its bad U need winzip to open the file
