Uh ... no. It isn't. The stress test is paid, the open beta is not. SimpleIJoel said:Well, it IS a paid for open beta. Simple as that.

Europe is NOT going to be involved with this ST or OB. It will be taken care of at a "later time."
My question is tho... I have an American Computer in Europe. Can I or can't I use that to play IN Europe? Couldn't I simply just connect to a US server and be done with it?
...regardless... I still can't play it until I get these ports sorted out on this fucking server... but can someone answer me, please?![]()

Mister Zimbu said:It's semantics and it's bullshit. You're still paying for a beta. They're not calling it a beta, but it's still a god damn beta.
Btw, FilePlanet exclusive next week: $5 payment and FilePlanet will let you whitewash their fence!
mint said:Was wondering if this final stress test version will be the same as the upcoming open beta? Meaning, are we going to have to download another version once open beta starts?
krypt0nian said:Well here's some more "semantics" for you. If you decided to buy into Fileplanet then that was your choice. This was for existing FP subs as a bonus much like all the other bonus betas they get into first.
If you wait a week, you pay nothing. Call the people who joined FP for this stooges if you need to vent, but Blizzard is in the right here. No one is forced to pay for beta. Its their option for being impatient.
IJoel said:I don't get these people.
Why would you defend a company that OBVIOUSLY didn't think of the customers first when doing this? They struck a deal with FilePlanet and I imagine they must've gotten money or free advertising out of it, but they are the sole winners of this.
I understand taking a neutral position (hey, I personally don't see the big deal, I'll wait a week, even when I have a closed beta account,) but defending a company is just ridiculous when it's obvious the customer was the one last in their minds when making this deal.
krypt0nian said:You haven't refuted any points of my responce. I'm hardly a b-net fanboy. Its stated very clearly in my last post why no one is paying for beta.
Cerebral Palsy said:You'll have to import a copy of the game from the U.S... And then pray they sell gamecards, because if not you'll need a credit card that has a U.S. billing address.
Pretty cool. Since the Hunter and Paladin talents are going to be in in less than a week, I'm guessing that the on release day there is going to be a patch for the talents for the people that install the retail version.4. Re: Why did the client need to be redownloaded? | 11/3/2004 6:30:39 PM GMTST
Several technical changes were made to the client and installer. We had people re-download the client so that all the beta people will not need to re-install upon release of the game. You will just need to get a CD key and you're good to go.

Whoever wants to play the game right now, has to pay for it.
hiryu said:Except for all the people that were in closed beta. You do realize they don't need a fileplanet subscription to continue playing don't you?
MrparisSM said:I went ahead and installed the WOW open beta program, not knowing you could watch an intro for it. A couple friends were over and I have my PC hooked up to my HDTV... They were floored and had me replay it one more time for them. They are totally into Lineage II, but after watching the intro are going to get WoW when it comes out.
For those of you that have been playing the game. Are the spell effects pretty cool? The one thing I hated about Lineage was the spell effects. Final Fantasy XI has had the best effects in a MMORPG that I've seen so far.
trippingmartian said:Someone should rename this thread to "WoW Stress Test" and make a new thread when open beta actually happens.
You will need to purchase the game in order to get a CD-key, as I understand it.
Your current Stress Test/Open Beta install should be able to be patched up and ready for retail, though.

they're going to change it with this next patch so the highest levels of any NPCs is level 63.Sal Paradise Jr said:I know this is all very likely subject to change, but it doens't reflect well to have Thrall 63, and some random guards at newbie towns level 75.
Jupiter said:So, is the stress test installer going to be the same as the open beta installer? When open beta is announced I don't want to be waiting 10+ hours to finish downloading the installer when I could download it now.
MrparisSM said:The installer that is in this thread is the Open Beta installer, go ahead and download it now, so you'll be ready when they announce sign-ups.![]()
