Wrath of the Lich King: Alpha leak compendium; title music suite, abilities, pictures

I think some of the websites also don't want to be frozen out of future leaks from Blizzard themselves.
These sites were never given any regard by Blizzard in the first place. They weren't getting screenshots, they weren't getting interviews, exclusives, or beta invites. They can say they don't want to burn bridges, but there aren't any that they can burn really.

I fail to see how that one new Pally talent is any good. No reason a holy pally would use it, Ret shouldn't need it either unless a healer grabs aggro which would be not bloody likely, and prot. pally's are beast's at keeping aggro with AoE tanking, so again blizzard...WTF at that talent!?

Oh and Blood Elf DK's look pretty damn awesome. Will for sure roll a few different ones.

PVP?

I had a cool idea after seeing Frostmourne.

A persistent capture the Frostmourne. Make it an uber over powered item and if a player dies, the other players of the opposing faction can pick it up and steal it for their side. That way you could have huge guild wars of hunting down Frostmourne, which would be the curse for having ownership of it.

You'd just have to figure out how it would reset since a player could log off after getting it. I think a week of ownership and then it gets reset to drop from Arthas for the whole server. That way it's not really a permanent item, but more a week of fun OP for that character, but having to be constantly hunted down and needing protection by fellow guildmates.

It wouldn't drop in arenas or BGs, and have it only useable outside of instances so that players wouldn't just stay in town and use it for raid runs.

It's thought it would be a fun idea. Good roleplaying elements to it as well. I realize Blizzard probably wouldn't do something like this... but I was just brainstorming some gameplay ideas. I haven't played WoW in awhile, but something like that would make me come back.

It would make for a good PVP scenario as well. This way the weapon is more like a 1 week buff than an actual permanent weapon.

Wow, they're actually going to let warriors dual wield two handed weapons.

I really hope you don't think thats real, that would destroy what little "Balance" there is.

Even though this is alpha, it looks really pathetic compared to what other MMO's are offering. Can't see any reason to restart my subscription based on this, but we will see.

Except that your attacks would be 20% slower.
Don't think a Warrior with dual wielding 2-handers swinging every 5 seconds would be overpowered at all. You'd have to have some mad +hit because if you don't then your DPS would be a joke.

Some new NPC's, really nice art direction, especially on the giants:

Knights of the Ebon Blade - Freed from the grasp of the Lich King, his former Deathknights have regrouped against him under the banner of Highlord Darion Mograine.

wow at demon form. I need to make a warlock asap!

And oh shit, one of the guys from nogg-aholic is back with a movie on wotlk, sweeet.

Nice job with these updates, Alex. Keep it up.

What the hell is that naked undead girl doing? :lol

I really like the look of that area with the Japanese style architecture.

Man, if Warlocks could tank. :lol Just make Hunters and Rogues be able to heal or tank and we'll be set. :lol The tank and healer shortage would be over for good.

The new giants are awesome. I love the detail; the swords and gate strapped to the feet to protect their ankles from tiny humans and orcs, or the polar bear strapped to his arm. They're absolutely massive, too -- towering over the fel reavers from Outland.

Arthas' face looks odd yet but they're nailing his armor.

is that a gafism or just something GAF adopted?

It's a combination of two sayings:

"eating crow" meaning to be proven wrong.

"let them eat cake" is a quote often attributed to Marie Antoinette, but there's some dispute as to that. The phrase is a suggestion for the poor, who couldn't afford bread -- the suggestion is that Antoinette had so little knowledge of how the poor lived that she thought that somehow cake would be less hard to come by.

it's only a 45 second buff with a 5 minute cooldown.

Wow, those giants look awesome. I'm not really feeling Arthas' armor though. There are a bit too many skulls on it.

I don't think I'll play WoW ever again, but I do like to keep up with the development of the game. :D

Rogues can tank. Havnt you seen Gaeowyn in action? He's tanked Gruul (and a 5 man Gruul run too boot lol) as well as Mother Sharaz and Illidan in Black Temple.

Looks very incomplete. Jeff Kaplan said that warriors would have three new "unique" abilities, comparable to mage teleporting/food making, rogue lockpicking, warlock summoning etc. I don't see anything like that there... unless the knockback is a unique warrior feature, that would be interesting...

The undead girl is a new mob type, they're crawling around one of the dragonflight shrines.

I think it'll be Two-hander + shield. Probably something for the MS warriors, to allow them to tank without respeccing.

This game will be so kick ass, and I f'ing love the intro music it's so f'ing A! I can't wait to play it....I'm gonna be a lore nerd and just follow WCIIIs type of Death Knight by making my lvl 70 paladin one ^^

It'd be pretty sweet in PVP to not have to switch to shield to do Spell Reflect too. That, and the added armor would help.

Either way, I'll buy WotLK for this talent alone.

I'm very interested in how Shadow Priests are treated in the expansion. Hopefully they'll address survivability and lack of any sort of AOE attacks.

Funny how this 'leak' occured on the same day AoC launched. Coincidence? I think not. ;P

Seeing as how Blizzard is forcing sites to take down any info on it, I doubt it was intentional and someone probably got big time banned from the Alpha and maybe even the regular game as well.

Eh, of course they'll go after the sites to take it down... but not until after the info is in the minds of all of its customers. ;)

They've asked *some* sites to take down the info, but not all of them. In particular, http://wotlk.wikidot.com/ is still up & so far has the most information of any site out there. How that website is still up with all its info, while other sites with less info. were asked to remove WotlK stuff, is beyond me.

There's no way Blizzard can be so oblivious as to not know about that website, so either something fishy is really going on or they want people to know about the alpha info.

I would be willing to guess that the warrior talent that allows them to Duel Wield 2handers is a fury talent and thus you would have to choose that over mortal strike.

Also, someone earlier mentioned that the 1 leaked Paladin talent, Martyr had seemingly no use. The moment I read that, I thought, wow a 12 second bubble for your entire Arena/BG team. Just pop Martyr and then pop your bubble; essentially your entire party is invulnerable for 12 seconds, just make sure to run away from that mass dispel :lol

This thread got me itching for some WoW so I resubscribed last night and it was kind of boring. I quit when the first expansion came out because I was an old hardcore raider, and finding out all my tier 3 gear was obsolete day 1 bugged the hell out of me. My warrior is up to level 65 but the game just isn't as much fun when I don't have my friends to play with, very lonely :(

Well from what I understand, basically what they told WoR and MMO-Champion is that they had to take down the information or they weren't coming to BlizzCon for free. That's it. It's not like they're threating legal action.

That site is still up because there's nothing to threaten.

If it's anything like last time, then they will threaten legal action if asking nicely doesn't work. The thing is now, no one seems to be linking that sort of thing on the main WoW forums. If it starts getting too big for it's britches, then I'm sure they'll do something.

Fuck it, after reading about all this Dark Knight stuff I am going to have to buy the expansion..

Good bye life as I get addicted to WoW once again :(

The Flurry talent and enough crit to keep it up most of the time make the issue of swing speed not a problem. Already, the most optimal DW setup for Fury warriors is slow main hand/slow off-hand with as much top-end damage as possible for big whirlwind and white damage. Warriors also don't really focusing on with +hit too much past the 90-ish rating where yellow attacks never miss.

Given that the main problems with fury DPS-and there was never a huge problem there to begin with-were mostly due to bad itemization choices and threat, I'm sort of surprised they'd drop a DPS bomb like this on fury.

Not that I care too much there (my warrior is protection, whose new talents are great btw) , I was just surpirsed to see it. Better itemization and some tree reworking (Enrage being required for Fliurry blows, for example) would have had a more measured and less chaotic effect.

Holy crap! I was chatting with a friend a few weeks back about potential new talents and, being a lock, my first thought was that it would be cool if we could get a demon form ala Illidan. He laughed and said it'd never happen. :lol

Oh, and that title music is amazing. I hope they keep it for the final game. Good stuff.

I don't play WoW and am not an MMO fan at all (yes, I know, why am I in this thread?), but holy cow, these are FANTASTIC! Sheesh, if I were just scrolling through, I might've mistaken these for painted artwork (especially that first one... damn). Great stuff!

I think the OP vanished because I was grazing the limits of the field. I was getting the same occurrence trying to edit in the updates yesterday, so I didn't mess with it.

These leaks are occuring thanks to the Friends and Family Alpha just now starting. Take off the tin foil hat.
