I always thought this was one of those silly GAF jokes and everyone just played along, I didn't think it was actually the real name. I hope Sony calls the next PS the PS361 just to spite them.

I also laugh at this name but i suppose it's going to get the casual.
For some reason 360 is perceived a cool number, apply to many sports, makes skaters drool, can mean a turn around for Microsoft, synonymous of Revolution, imagine cycles, can mean infinity, etc etc etc.

I agree, especially since they will be pushing the high def aspects of the system. That name would have made sense.

Someome told me that Xbox360 will only support HDTV. Without it you can't really enjoy the games.

I think the Only reason they are calling it 360 and not Xbox 2 is because the Sony console will be called Playstation 3. They don't wanna look inferior in any way including the number after the name. Is it logical? Well I believe thats besides the point.
