WWE 2K16 - First Gameplay Details (IGN)

This is how 2K sport games are. The arcady style can be super fun, too. I don't know why 2K doesn't make up another series, especially since they co-op the standard games now with Yukes.

Yup sim style one and a fun aracde WWE game would keep fresh if they did one every other year. WWE All-Stars was fun as it was totally different.

That's pretty sweet. I hope we get a ton of CAW slots to take full advantage of this.

Theory?

There's a current consensus that WWE is simply running in auto-pilot. The current product has push away many hardcore fans only keeping a smaller demographic of kids and families. WWE is not what it used to be. However, they are in the top of the food chain and that's the bottom line.

I know we all annually cry when the WWE games come out. I was actually excited when 2K got the licence almost 3 years ago. I had really high hopes for the WWE series. I am still flabbergasted how bad WWE 2K15 actually was. I was sucker in and I bought it on release day despite all reviews. What is 2K16 going to change? From the previews, it literally seems like a carbon copy of 2K15 with an added roster (many will look like CAWS) and features that should have never been taken out!

Can we blame 2K/Yukes? Just like WWE, they are the only ones producing an annual wrestling title. Would you work harder when the product you are trying to emulate can also be called a lazy product?

Sad...I know... :(

That's some N64 shit right there.

yup, WWE franchise is doing what any other sports franchise with no competition do....just recycling features, gameplay etc, etc.

As long they keep yukes around there's no way wwe games can reach NBA level (and i dont even want to throw names like The Show or Pro Yakyu Spirits).
Give the franchise to Visual Concepts without yukes participation.

But it also risky as can be a disaster like the last years of MLB 2k.

I also agree. I am sure 2K has thought about it but it is also risky to start all over again. Going back to examples like RAW2 on Original Xbox to WM21. It was a huge disaster for THQ..

I understand it takes times to build an engine. I get that. I just wish another developer would work on a new engine maybe taking up to 2 years then when it's finally ready, 2K should let Yukes go and hand the coding to the new developers.

I don't even think Yukes was that bad. I still remember how great Here Comes The Pain was and even Shut Your Mouth! But ultimately, it is time to let them go. How lazy can you be when they didn't even bother to put Stone Cold's vest for his intro for 2K15?!

Just Like Vince McMahon.. PLEASE RETIRE!

Seth Rollins a 92.

That means Brock Lesnar has to be in the 100s.

I don't see a menu option for loading in DLC characters or CAWs. I am going to assume that stuff isn't added yet.

The way these old vertical lists worked was that the CAWs (and I assume DLC, but that didn't exist back then) was they were just inserted within the list. I'd much rather have that.

Gotta love how out of date that will be once the game is out.
Blame WWE creative for that.

It's not the devs fault everything changes in WWE 3 months into development, then again a month after that and 2 months after that and a week after that.

Blame WWE creative for that.

There is no one to blame.

2k/Yukes needs to have a cut off date for content and WWE stories are continuously changing and evolving on a weekly basis. In this case, Kidd got hurt and WWE needed to do something different with Cesaro.

I just wish they would give us Tron/Music updates via patches and enough CAW slots to edit the characters as they change attire.

His time in ECW was Paul Heyman letting him experiment with promos while he was injured after WCW let him go. He only had a couple of matches at the end as conditioning basically before starting his WWF/E career. So even if he doesn't just mean the career of the Stone Cold character there wouldn't be much to add ECW wise if they bothered with it at all.

Sandman & Mikey Whipwreck as playable characters would just be great. It can be glossed over, just give me them.

So does this look dramatically different (better) than 2K15, or is this basically like an EA Sports situation?

It looks almost exactly the same with a new pin and submission mini-game, and shit like cancelled pins and dirty pins that were axed from last year brought back as new features.

Finlay (with mullet), DDP, Bam Bam, and Luger are in. Hopefully they've bothered to tweak them, but it looks like all of last years DLC bar Hogan will be available.

I'm hearing Jake the Snake has been confirmed as well. Guess the birth of Austin 3:16 will be covered (as it should).

The reveals this week:

Alicia Fox
Bam Bam Bigelow
Big Show
Cameron
Cesaro
Darren Young
DDP
Dolph Ziggler
Finlay
Kevin Nash
Layla
Lex Luger
The Miz
Naomi
Randy Orton
Sheamus
Titus O'neal
Tyson Kidd

Confirmed in other videos

The Vaudevillains
Jake the Snake Roberts

Hands on at Operation Sports.

I think there are other articles kicking around as well.

There it is.

EDIT: YES!

Steve Austin was revealed as the Showcase (story mode of the game), and it covers his career from WCW to ECW to WWF/E. The opening video was impressive (we could not hear it though), showing some major happenings in Austin’s career like the Hollywood Blondes with Brian Pillman and the strap match with Savio Vega. I don’t know if that confirms these wrestlers in the game, but it did make me assume they are in the final product.

I got to play one match of the mode, it obviously was in the WWF portion of his career as it was the King of the Ring finals match against Jake “The Snake” Roberts (also confirming him in the game). A very cool touch was that Jake came out clutching his side (he had his snake and all), and we got a look back from earlier tonight showing Vader crushing Jake in the corner causing the injury. It was a real motion video and really wowed me when it happened. The screen grain was also present as it was in former games to add to the authenticity.
