Zack Ryder put in the work, got himself over and grabbed one of Vince's brass rings only to have his hand slapped away and told "No, not you".

That's how it's gonna be, if Vince and co don't believe you have "IT", you won't be successful. Ryder literally built himself up from nothing, got successful without WWE's help, and they buried him afterward.

not surprised by this at all. it's how the business works. Vince wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah, I heard JBL wouldn't hold back on his closelines. He sucks. I wonder if his APA gimmick went to his head or Vince knew he was an asshole and made the APA as a result.

it aint the Clothesline from Hell for nothing. you can look at it and tell there's no holding back. that Clothesline comes from waaaay back.

There are many other cuckold situations in pro wrestling. Chris Candido letting "the boys" have unlimited shots at Tammy Sytch comes to mind. And fresh off of last week's Hall of Fame ceremony, Dallas Page letting his boss, Eric Bischoff, take extreme sexual liberties with his wife, Kimberly, resulted in a "push" that got him the world title.

Just an unbelievably scummy industry overall.

Despite being divorced DDP and Kimberly remain close friends to this very day. I highly doubt that would be the case if this was true.

Carnival spirit still going strong I see. A million dollar entertainment company that promotes an anti-bullying campaign but still a circus at heart... Let's hope this gets some more traction and forces Vince to act (read: fire JBL).

This quote doesn't bother me. Companies shoulf operate with a conscious, especially now that they're defined as 'people' and Trump plans to shrink government.
Except the fact they partner with Susan G Komen (one of the more for-profit charities out there) for a month every year, with the Komen brand absolutely plastered on every single inch of the show.

They had the Be A Star anti-bullying campaign which is hilariously ironic for a company that proudly promotes bullying amongst it's ranks.

And they have the Warrior Award every year at the Hall of Fame. In honor of The Ultimate Warrior, a man who was an absolutely heinous bigot who spread hate in public settings, called a paralyzed wrestler simply by "The Cripple", and denied sick kids their backstage visits with him. Warrior had the idea of making an award for those who make the show happen behind the scenes. Instead WWE uses the award to honor people with severe disabilities or sickness, the same people Warrior made fun of and ignored.

Soooo.....nah. WWE can get fucked on this subject.

Man I would love a book on the best backstage stories in wwe etc

You can always watch Youshoot interviews or Cornette interviews in general, there's always a lot of weird/funny stories in those. But as someone mentioned, some of the stories will be next to impossible to confirm. Like, I can't imagine that you'll ever get a real confirmation of the story Tony Atlas tells in his Youshoot interview about the Bella Twins being into water sports and scat.

JBL is a piece of shit, but at least there's some joy in knowing he lives in fear of Joey Styles ever returning and beating the shit out of him

When'd Steph become the voice of reason, exactly? Or is this like an Ivanka thing?
Yeah, judging by some of the stories out there, she's a piece of shit herself (e.g. Bitching at one of the writers and telling him to go apologise to the entire locker room, because he complimented one of the guys on their work in Japan).

Fans need to mercilessly chant "bully" and "Mauro" at JBL.
If Vince won't take action (and he won't), the fans should step up and make JBL want to quit.
"Fire Bradshaw" should remain a staple chant no matter how much JBL pretends to be a nice guy on commentary.

I like the idea of chanting Mauro's name since JBL seems to legit hate him.

Remember when JBL publicly bullied Shawn Michaels and made him his personal servant after taking advantage of HBK's money problems? Horrible man.

Surprised... well not THAT surprised WWE hasn't even commented on it. Even with some paper thin blanket statement about how anti bullying they are.

Really are just gonna ride it out and hope it blows over huh?

This whole thing is weird to me. Wrestling fans calling for JBL to be fired because of his bullying...you do that you may as well fire 3/4ths of the legends that are so loved, and the agents and bookers in the back, and a good number of active wrestlers. It's not WWE culture. It's wrestling culture.

Things have toned down now as more of the newer generation are geeky as opposed to the older guys but this attitude has been pervasive in wrestling for eons. Singling out JBL or Vince alone is stupid.

This doesn't mean that JBL shouldn't get punished for what he does/did.

I do agree with you that it's a bigger problem than just JBL though

They should have put him over again Goldberg in 98. The fans would have been hot as fuck for it.

The Big Guys? I thought his second set of runs was mostly trading the title with Jarret and David Arquetteeuet and that's why it didn't work.

The title just didn't matter any longer.

Fine with me. I don't like any of that shit. Not from JBL, not from Hogan, not from Warrior, Michael Hayes. I've always wanted those guys and others buried for good.

JBL abused and bullied a man with a mental illness.

I'm not watching a lick of WWE programming until he gets the boot. If that is never, so be it, but as someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, I don't care if it's "the culture". That is absolute. Fucking. Bullshit.

A company ran by Vince has bullying? Noooo...In all seriousness FUCK JBL. CM Punk said the whole Be A Star bullying campaign was complete BS anyway.

I didn't say that. What I am saying is that firing JBL will change nor fix a damn thing because the wrestling business is built to reward this type of behavior.

You want change? Boycott the product. Don't give them money. Idiots paying full price for a ticket just to hold up a sign at an event does nothing.

I find it hypocritical when a fan of X takes up a cause to ban 'X', only to plug their ears with everything else. If you're truly outraged, prove it, and drop the product. I saw a post earlier from a guy saying he dropped WWE Network and wrote in the feedback that JBL was directly responsible; that's putting up. You want JBL fired? Do more of that. Everything else is just words.

For what it's worth, my Network sub is getting cancelled and I'm listing JBL as the reason

A. Just because something is a tradition, doesn't mean that's the way it should be forever, especially when it's effecting the well being of people.

2. There's a difference between ribbing someone and bullying someone. Stealing someone's passport is all well and good, as long as you assure it's found again so the victim isn't trapped in a foreign country for a week getting it replaced. There's an obvious line that's crossed when what should just be a playful rib turns mean spirited and JBL is notorious for being mean spirited in his "ribs."

d. Mauro isn't a motherfucking wrestler. He's a broadcaster. He's working in a professional position and should be exempt from all the dumbfuck, locker room grabass.

The only way to change the culture is to start making examples out of the worst offenders. He was an ass even by wrestling standards.

I just wanted to say I'm very proud of What culture and specifically King Ross for calling out JBL fully for the piece of shit he is.

He has always ripped the piss out of John but the attacks on this week's WTF moments videos are refreshing to see in A world of media that refuses to take a side.

Trying to cancel my WWE network sub over this bullshit and shockingly it keeps erroring while trying to cancel. Fuck this company

The worst offender, and the one who gives JBL and others licence to torment people with impunity, is the one who runs the company. And the only way he's leaving is in a coffin

Hazing is just part of the business. It is what it is and PC culture won't permeate or ruin professional wrestling until it hurts Vince's bottom line. JBL and I bet many other boys in the lockeroom love to rib on folks. I listen to Austin's podcast and all the pranks and jokes they would pull on each other is just crazy. It's part of the business and if you as an employee can't deal with it then get the F out.

It just makes him look like the perfect Heel. They're probably working on a new story line for JBL right now. One where he bullies people all the time.

There's a difference between a rib like the ones Owen Hart pulled, and JBL specifically targeting those he knows can't fight back and trying to make them kill themselves.

I hope that you can see that.

One of the worst posts I've ever read.

Hazing is a moronic, macho ritual that accomplishes nothing but inflate the egos of an organization's biggest assholes. It's a formerly culturally accepted way to assert dominance over another person, which is CAVEMAN AS FUCK.

If your happiness or self worth depends on the ability to do whack shit to other people, you're a child. Grow the hell up.

Fuck that shit. It is 2017. That carny shit needs to fucking go by the wayside. That might have been acceptable back in the days, but some people just want to have fun doing a job they love and not be constantly harassed in the name of a good prank. Shit like that is why WWE will never be as mainstream as Vince and his cronies want it to be. Until that place actually cares about its people these kinds of stories will always come out, tarnishing whatever inroads they make with the populace at large.
