We knew Lesnar/Angle and I'm sure we will get a Taker/Jones v Show/A Train caliber feud with probably even less time to set up. And if someone at Booker's level got a shot like that at Wrestlemania wrestle gaf would have a shit fit.
OK, I disagree about Lesnar/Angle to an extent, but whatever.

HBK/Jericho
Lesnar/Angle

That's it, though. You can see practically everything on this WM card coming from a mile away. I mean, I called Punk/Taker months ago before even a hint of it popped up anywhere.

And the problem with that is?

See, I like The Rock as WWE champion. I wish it had taken more than a People's Elbow, but I think it's the right move.

All of this to put Cena over.

But fuck me that's the problem right there. All these plotline machinations are a means of creating the single biggest event to put a wrestler over that the WWE can manufacture -- The Rock, as WWE champion, losing to someone -- and it's for JOHN FUCKING CENA.

Cena could disappear for a year into the depths of Thailand, bury himself in a mountain of hookers and heroin, and still be #1 merch seller and the company's biggest draw.

Why do we need unexpected matches, when the ones we know will happen are just fine? When have we not known the WM matches months in advanced? WM 2? Just another case of Wrestlegaf complaining about something that has always been.

Its not that we need unexpected matches its that you could literally with some certainty barring injury predict the outcome of every match that is being setup for wrestlemania.

What's really sad is that we all knew this was the road we were headed down. We just didn't want to believe it.

But did it have to come with the Rock beating CM Punk with a spinebuster and a people's elbow?

Did it have to be because cena won the rumble, with a final 3 of Cenavs Sheamus vs Ryback? with the 4th to last person being Dolph Ziggler, who entered at #1, was the MitB holder, and teased a title unification angle?

Did they really have to pull it off in the most "fuck you, fans, and especially fuck you, talent" way possible?

Of course they did. Sometimes I don't think Vince will ever be happy until he's driven away all the wrestling fans. The day that all WWE fans call themselves 'sports entertainment fans' is the day Vince will rest.

I don't think you guys understand how badly this hurt Punk.

Rock basically came in and took the title with no resistance.

Sure, Rock is a multiple time champion.

But when your CURRENT GENERATION top tier talent is buried by a part-timer from the past era then there is something seriously wrong with your company.

This didn't hurt Cena because there was no WWE title at stake. It was just personalities clashing.

This match was about the WWE title that was held by the longest reigning champion of the modern era.

A part-timer comes in and takes it in 20 minutes with an elbow.

You guys don't understamd. This was basically on the level of Triple H/Kevin Nash burial in 2011.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about wrestling culture (I'm an expert)...

What this means is the real wrestling fans, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Wrestlemania, nor will they purchase any of WWE's PPVs. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Vince has alienated an entire market with this move.

Vince, publicly apologize and give Punk his title back or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Beating a 400+ day WWE champ clean would have been a hell of a thing to put a new guy (or a daniel bryan) over with.

But then CENA.

So is this the year of The Rock? He's got a bunch of big movies coming out, he's back on top of the wrestling world, and he's just all around badass right now.

Doubt it. After Wrestlemania where he puts over Cena, he'll probably go back to making Movies, never to return again until it's time to promote said movie. I doubt he'll even work full time these 2 months of being Champion.

Guess Jericho will be here for the next few months:

Chris Jericho has signed a new short-term deal with WWE and will be working for the company full-time through Wrestlemania 29, according to multiple sources. The two sides quietly came to a deal a few weeks ago I am told.

WWE has put a video online with Jericho and Dolph Ziggler going back and forth, so that appears to be the direction they are going in with him.

WWE has already released a new t-shirt for Jericho.

From PWInsider

Supposedly, Jericho was hidden in a bus outside the venue until the Rumble. He got dressed in the bus and no one knew he was there until Justin Roberts was doing the match intro.

Godfather drove 5 hours from Las Vegas to Phoenix so no one would spot him at an airport.

My wrasslin days are mostly behind me as I've cancelled cable a couple of years ago. Now I only watch the big 4 ppvs with my buddies and of course I watched tonight.

It still stinks but I had fun watching it again. Cody's pedo-stache is amusing. None of the new faces seem to have that "it" factor to be stars. Maybe Ryback but that feed me more gimmick is beyond dumb but the crowd seems into it.

Aside from Cena winning the rumble, the only major gripe I had with the match was Kane not tying the all time elimination record or at least getting within one. Was actually pissed about that since he may only have one more year in him. Ending was obvious but I'm glad Jericho made an appearance.

But then there was the Rock/Punk match. Rock has literally 10 minutes of no offense but comes back and beats punk with a spibebuster/people's elbow? Has he ever pinned anybody with that move before? Completely ruined an otherwise decent match and make Punk look weak. Could have at least hit the rock bottom.

Now we get the Undertakers comeback to mysteriously pick off the shield one by one and the "surprise reveal" of his comeback after the next ppv to lead up to their match at mania.

It's like I never stopped watching :/

Oh and how in the fuck did ziggler not get at least semi chub from AJ mounting him during his entrance??? Holy shit she's hot.

I understand where you are coming from and I agree, if it is Punk/Taker at WM it does nothing for him.

So lets say Punk beats an aging Taker who appears for the month before WM and ends the streak, then what? Do they do another stupid legend killer gimmick they love to bring out ever few years and Punk gets a new shirt design?

Where do you go from that? Rock/Cena 2 at WM gets a huge buyrate lets say. Cena wins because no one is stupid enough to think Rock is even going to work a schedule before WM much less after.

So were back to the same shit EVERYONE hated 18 months ago with Cena as champ week in week out. Fans back to being bored and Punk out there with nothing to do except feud for the title and pulling his pud wasting his talent against Super Cena while people who could be a fresh fued like Ziggler are stuck in the mid card.

What was the point of it all? This is the issue, Cena is so over he doesn't need to be a Champion to be a draw you can use the belt to help other people be elevated.

IT's not just the fact that punk lost to a part timer who will disappear after WM

but it's the fact he lost to a part timer who will disappear after WM that ended the match with a People's Elbow

It's a little cynical that they ended his reign like that tho. Motive wise it's pretty questionable what there real intentions were.

I would expect you'll see the WWE titled shared almost exclusively between Cena and Ryback for the next few years, with the odd short-term reign for Triple H thrown in.

Punk will be very much a US title and eventually Smackdown! staple.

Oh and not to mention this does nothing for Ryback, considering Punk can't be so arrogant about being champ, So Ryback/Cena is Face vs Face? YAAAAAAAAAWN
