LOL me and my roommates were saying this all night, what a smug little piece of shit, throw in nicole and the shitty host too will you're at it, both are completely useless and ruining the show. "You are the sunshine of america!" Really Nicole? Go take that hyperbole and fuck off please. I feel bad for Josh, dude is getting held back because of her.
You could see it in the Over 30s' faces when they realized Nicole was their mentor. Utter disappointment. :lol

I really hope Mariah replaces Nicole as a judge next season (I'm sounding like a broken record now). The female judges feel and look like second fiddle to the more controlling and assertive male judges. You know Mariah wouldn't take shit from LA Reid or Simon (as if those two would do anything other than worship the ground she steps on anyway).

Why? I just wanted to know. How is X Factor "cool to like" and AGT not?
Coolness has no bearing on this. AGT is simply terrible. :lol

Also the fact that Mariah has legit talent and a impressive career, and not just a "pussycat doll", if Nicoles on next season I'll be shocked.

Well this was a weird week, not just the vocal performances but I agree with whoever said sound mixing was off.

That said, the girls were my favorite group as always. Melanie cam on top for me this week though. Drew was great, not perfect, but that's more than ok since she was able to break the mold this week (I still think that, despite how she sounded this week, she's got the total package more than anyone on the show).

Now Drew... UUTFSIMON.? Why is he so intent on ruining her? Up til the live shows, her shtick was, imo, to look and act younger than she actually is, but when she holds the mic, she gets possessed by this much older, wronged, strong female vocalist. But Simon is bent on bringing that "Sunshine" pre/post-performance persona during the performance, and it's becoming too much to digest. It's too saturated.

The performance that I liked was Lakoda Rain's (or however it's spelled). They've got a sweet sound and developed a harmony. I gotta say that I didn't predict the vocal style they're portraying out of them. But I agree with Simon; the prom dresses were horrible.

Entertaining stage performance, but abysmal vocal quality and radio potential goes to: Astro and Stereo Hoezz. The staging was fun, but I'd totally ignore them after the show based on their performances so far.

The rest were forgettable, imo.

If Steve Jones is on next season, I'll be even more shocked than if Nicole stays. This guy confirms why models make the worst spokespeople/hosts. They're paid to look gorgeous, not be relatable or charming.

And now that his Herculean bod is all bunched up in a boring suit every week, I no longer have any reason for him to exist.

Stacy's of "Up to the Mountain" is awful compared to Kelly's from Idol Gives Back and Crystal Bowersox's version.

Seriously. Talent shows need to stop whoring out that song.

There are far worse offenders. I think UTTM has only been performed these two times on US shows for voting (AI9, XFUSA). I Have Nothing and Against All Odds need to be publicly executed as a threat to future singing competition contestants.

I think some dude even performed UTTM before on this season! Also, there should be an unwritten rule banning Whitney Houston and Adele songs, these contestants would probably just embarrass themselves.

I was kinda hoping that the producers had finally come to their senses and ditched that cardboard cut-out of a host when the show's voice-over intro was clearly being done by a different, American, dude. But nope, after that out walks the charisma black hole that is Steve Jones. How is this guy still in a job? They ditch Cheryl Cole but keep him?

The host is horrible. Horrible horrible horrible.

Really mediocre night last night for me. I'll give my rundown, with rankings based on estimated audience connection, not personal opinion.

LA's Stable
Astro was average. Seems very one dimensional. Went from loving him to thinking he's OK.

Chris is lame. No idea what his appeal is now. Not good looking. Not an amazing singer. He's some drug addict with "soul", but no charm.

Marcus can't keep up. His vocal abilities aren't that amazing...but he apparently is extremely good at getting very low to the ground and prowling around the stage.

1st: Astro
3rd: Chris/Marcus

Paula's Stable
Lakoda Rayne is boring. They are nice to look at, but their singing doesn't do anything for me whatsoever. Looks like a bunch of generic airheads thrown together and singing in harmony. But...nice to look at.

inTENsity could be pretty good, I think. They sound much better as a group than I'd expect, but it's clear there are really only 3-4 people in there that have actual talent, and the rest are just filler. In the right hands, I think they could be pretty good. Not for me, but I can see the appeal.

Stereo Hogzz just don't sing that well. They don't dance that well. I think the concept of what they are is way better than the execution of what they are.

1st: inTENsity/Stereo Hogzz
3rd: Lakoda Rayne

Nicole's Stable
Stacy seems kind of all over the place. She has the same bad habit that Christina Aguilera has, which is that they don't seem to be capable of just holding a note loudly and proudly. They just HAVE to run it all over the place in some kind of shitty sounding scale. It's a fun gimmick...if you do it every now and then. Great pipes, bad vocal artistry.

Josh is great, but his "dim the lights and listen to me blow" schtick needs to go away soon. He still isn't easy on the eyes, and I don't think I've heard him slay a song yet. It's clear he's got all the ability packed in there, but it hasn't come through full force yet. Needs to capitalize on that potential soon.

Leroy did the best last night, but he also doesn't exactly exude stage presence up there. Super cool dude...I want him to do well...but I can't shake that he's probably at the bottom of the list because he's not as emotionally out there as the other two in his group.

1st: Josh
2nd: Stacy
3rd: Leroy

Rachel is getting killed by these song choices. For some reason she's being turned into this poppy fun song singer, and it just doesn't fit her at all. She needs something with a bit more soul and some notes she can hang on.

Drew is easily the most interesting contestant on the show overall for me, but last night's performance made he seem a bit awkward. The execution was a weird hybrid of calm vocals, yet prancing around on stage trying to pump people up. It didn't blend well at all. Also seems to fall back on her soft finishes on words gimmick too frequently. She has more talent than that. Willing to give the benefit of the doubt this week, but the performance side needs to be a bit more consistent.

Melanie continues to be a faker to me. She's got great pipes, no question...but they aren't as good as either she or the show is letting on. That Whitney song last week killed her, and this week I wasn't exactly blown away. It's clear she's got power, but it seems like she has trouble controlling that power and sacrifices tone too frequently for me.

1st: Drew
2nd: Melanie
3rd: Rachel

One thing I do like about XF over Idol: the full-on production numbers they give each contestant make it much easier to imagine what that contestant might actually be like as a real recording artist/performer. With Idol you often feel as though you're watching a glorified karaoke competition, but the musical numbers on XF really do feel like clips from a legit concert or something you'd see at the VMAs.

Agreed 1000%.

You see them as stars immediately instead of trying to turn them into one after the shows. Simon naming his girl only "Drew" just goes further to show that they fully intend to have these people be bankable right out the gate.

This is the main reason I love X Factor. Idol always looks so amateur in comparison.

Do they post full episodes online anywhere? I can't find it on the Fox site.

EDIT: NM I can watch individual performances on the X factor site.

Just had a chance to watch the entire episode. Like mentioned before, some acts had some bad sound mixing issues.

At this point it just seems that Drew, Josh and Melanie are clearly better than everyone else. Drew has just enormous star potential regardless if song arrangements are slightly weird or not (also she was one with big sound issues...seems like the mic didn't work well when she was lying down and when she went over to the audience). Her tone is distinctive, she connects with the music (and moreover makes the listener connect), and she is just adorable...that smile alone is priceless. The problem I have with Melanie is that, while obviously talented, she isn't top notch for the type of singer that she is (its the whole whitney, celine, mariah thing) and there is nothing distinctive about her voice.

Astro messed up bad.

No particular order my ass

Melanie has been left to sweat HOW many times now?

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. I thought she was the last act

Melanie and Stacy. :lol The faces on those two were poetic.

It'd be a shame if Flaccidity passes.

Pretty much set up that they wont. While that flop Chris stays. I cant with this show.

Paging Crumpet

If only Intensity could have pruned a few members from the group. Of course they are going home because they cant seem to let thier strongest boy and girl take over and be front and center.

Oh Simon what you doing.

Oh, the judges choose?

BYE INTENSITY.

WAIT WAT.

Edit: LMAO, I love how Steve tells Nicole to STFU.

Edit 2: YES. Get your asses back to school kidz.
