Sentinels have a much bigger chance of appearing than a possible return of Jean assuming Scott is a bishounen. Totally has the traits for it.

Edit: I guess what I mean by that is I'm expecting lots of angst from Emo-Scott because of his portrayal in Episode 1 seems indicative of bishounens in Shoujo animes. I'm expecting quite the character drama actually if they choose to go to that route.

The only good Scott is an emo-Scott. Cyclops isn't very interesting if you remove all the baggage his character has gotten over the years. It's hard to keep him interesting as a level headed leader of the X-Men who has to act responsible, why having a steady love interest, and being the goodie-two-shoes who everyone can count on.

Making him emo and giving him a radical bishounen design, while keeping the rest of the crew pretty damn close to their more common comic counterparts, is probably the best design decision made by the anime team in terms of character design. I really dig it. His hair animates really well too.

While its only one episode most of the characters are the ones we know or at least similar, it's not the first time emo Scott has turned up in the X Men. Storm seems to be taking on more of the sex apeal but I guess thats understandable since theres no other X Women around.

I was talking about the actual designs. Professor X, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Wolverine, Storm, and Beast all look very close to their more familiar comic designs. Especially if you compare Wolverine from the last anime, and this one. Scott on the other hand got a total anime bishounen makeover which REALLY matches his more emo form found in the comics, especially post-DarkPhoenix.

Ah yeah definetly.

Even just from the character interactions weve seen so far though they definately seem like they could slide fairly easily into most any X series. Wolverine in his 15 minutes here is 100 times better than anything he showed in his own series.

So.... let's see if we can identify the Inner Circle used in the X-Men anime.

We see four members here:

This is probably Jason Wyngarde (Mastermind):

Who are these two:

And where the fuck is Sebastian Shaw?!

Duckroll, the guy on the right, doesnt he look kinda like Frederick J. Dukes (blob)?
Was going to say that.

The other guy maybe Donald Pierce? hes a blond cyborg dude who's been part of the Inner Circle

Yeah he does. It'll be interesting if they actually put villains who have never been in the Hellfire Club into it.

I dunno, he looks too refined to be any variation of Pierce. I was actually thinking that Pierce could be the leader (?) of the U-Men forces in Japan right now... the design matches a lot more (as well as the cybernetics):

Ah yeah good call, he's usually abit older and shorter hair.

Drawing a blank on youngish long haired blonde X Men villians.

well the blonde part is just a guess with that lighting, if he had facial hair I would say Sabretooth cause the dude looks fairly buff. Sabretooth wouldn't really make sense though I dont think.

So I didn't really know where to post this so I'll put it here since it's active X-Men discussion.

I finally finished the first 4 tpb's of Astonishing X-Men. Fucking loved it, Whedon can write a damn good comic. What do you guys think of his run and how is the Ellis stuff? Thinking about going to pick up the 5th tpb and some Fables books today.

Okay I see all those big breast characters, but where are the moe and the tsundere?

How can they make an anime without them?

So is this on any of the legal sites yet?

It won't air in the US until end of the year or something if that's what you're asking. All four Marvel Anime series are currently exclusive to G4, and they only plan on airing Iron Man and Wolverine starting in the Summer. X-Men and Blade will follow probably later this year.

I am intrigued. Is this a bloody, gory, over-the-top, action extravaganza? Or something a little more tame?

It's a pretty normal X-Men cartoon format so far, just done by Japanese staff in anime style. Nothing violent or particularly over the top.

Armor is the moe, and Wolverine is the tsundere.

The big dude might be Harry Leland. He was always a big dude, and he has mass controlling powers.

Like the line up. Would have liked Iceman and Angel in there to round out all the original members. Love Emma and Scott. Definitely must watch. Gave up on Wolverine after 2 episodes but doesn't sound like I missed anything.

I hope Emma Frost can be a reoccurring character on the X-Men team, I've never played as her in any Marvel games or managed to watch any series with her in it.

She was a regular on "Wolverine and the X-men", which was pretty good show because Craig Kyle and Chris Yost were writing it. Shame it only got one season.

I wanna watch!

Also, I'm glad they're going for everyday woman Storm like in Ultimate X-men, not the cold bitch Storm with no personality. I hated Storm so much in the 90s. Now I wanna smoosh her.

It is a shame indeed. Especially considering the ending was leading us into the Age of Apocalypse. I will give anything to see that storyline air. :(

Okay, so the Inner Circle guy on the right is likely to be Harry Leland, as others have pointed out, instead of Blob. But the guy on the left doesn't look anything like Donald Pierce honestly. And once again, where the FUCK is Sebastian Shaw. Is he just chilling somewhere away from the battle while Mastermind does all the work with his lackies?

I was wondering where my last X-men-related post went :lol

I see.

Considering how much time they've developed Scott unlike the other 3 X-men in Episode 1, I'm well prepared for lots of Emo-Scott moments, which might be antagonizing to many but it's what I've come to expect in anime.

And yes, I dig Scott's design as well. It simply works especially if they're avoiding the sunglasses.

I'm guessing she will be in due time based on the nature of anime OPs.

Oh, so that's what happened to the postcount in the regular thread. Lol.

I thought I was going crazy there, crisis averted.

xmen ep1

Came expecting it to either make my eye's bleed or give cancer, thank the heavens it did neither, the first episode looked really good specially the characters(mmm... storm).so far nothing really happen since there just setting everything up.

The Opening is just bland

wolverine = Takamura can't help but see him every time his speaks and even kinda acts like him but still wolverineish

Am sucker for x men so gonna keep watching(for storm), i know there going to use emma frost as a plot device but its sad seeing a character slot waste on her when there far better character to fill the spot.

Yea just watched the first ep, better than the other two marvel anime for sure. Duckroll vindicated. Hope theres a guest appearance or two from other X-men, that would be nice. Anyway, good start for the first episode, frozen pirates and talking squids were a big plus.

Been interested in this since I saw the trailer and character design, and have to say I'm impressed! It really felt like X-men, unlike Iron Man/Wolverine which was a complete crap. Scott is better than I thought he would, Wolverine is not annoying, Storm is very hot though with those strange Japanese conversation gestures.

Will watch until the end!
