The show looks interesting but the only thing I don't like is the fact that there will be a Japanese middle schooler on the squad. Are you kidding me with this shit? Fuck, at least if she was into her later teens but for fucks sake a middle schooler? Stay classy with the lolis Japan, also nice ANIMUMECHA armor there.

Speaking of which, I've noticed that the anime team (as seen in the poster and the opening) is actually the exact same team as Ellis' Astonishing run.

Also people are missing the point that in the anime during the mission details Professor X clearly states that she's in middle school, IIRC. Either way fuck her I want Gambit/Nightcrawler damn it. Preferably the two of them.

Because she IS a middle schooler? And Xavier protects young mutants? Gambit's not that interesting of a character. He's cool sometimes, but the anime have no need of him right now.

I don't understand GAF's hate of Gambit, but what's more I don't understand why the anime chose that Japanese girl. Hell I'd take Jubilee or Angel over some middle schooler.

I know she's a middle schooler, it's precisely why I don't want her in the show. She'll probably be playing the naive rookie all the time that the team has to rescue or guard. It's boring, I don't want to see some character not be able to hold their own and bring something interesting. She just seems like she'll be a terrible character.

Maybe the Japanese didn't choose the line-up? Maybe Warren Ellis did? After all Warren Ellis wrote the story outlines for all the Marvel Anime, and his initial Astonishing X-Men run had the exact same team: Cyclops, Emma Frost, Storm, Beast, Wolverine, and Armor. Maybe you're talking about of your ass? Just maybe!

Armor is awesome, she was one of the few Cyke let move up to the big leagues. And she fucked Daken( Wolverine's son) up hardcore.

I can never understand people's love for Gambit, other then he is cool, what else is there to him? His romance with Rogue was so forced it was almost painful.
 
Is Armor one of the more prominent Asian mutants in the comics? I haven't seen that many (if any) Asian mutants in the X-men series.
 
I don't like Storm's look, but it'll probably grow on me a bit.

Silver Samurai, some versions of Psylocke, Lady Deathstrike. I think there are more, but those come to mind more than Armor. Armor is a relatively new X-Men creation, but she appears much more in recent comics, and has a pretty large role in the team now.

Helps make sense of why she seems to be getting a bigger role then other favorites in the anime, if she's currently popular in the comics. For some reason I thought Psylocke was asian as well, I think from the Children of Atom / MvC games but I looked her up on wikipedia and she's English.

I dunno, he looks too refined to be any variation of Pierce. I was actually thinking that Pierce could be the leader (?) of the U-Men forces in Japan right now... the design matches a lot more (as well as the cybernetics):

I just threw out the first name that came to mind when I saw him. I've not been into Xmen since... Trevor Fitzroy was introduced. I'm sure there are more current villains that are a better match. Ya gotta admit though, between the hair and the futuristic monocle...

Yeah, the creator of Afro Samurai is credited for design on the U-Men. That could very well include that guy, along with all the robots and crazy monsters we see in the preview for ep2.
