It's funny how they actually kind of explained the reason Storm couldn't use her full powers, mutant supression device or whatever, and then, less than 3 minutes after that, they gave yet anouther reason for her to not be able to use her full powers.

At this rate, they're probably saving up for a major Storm set piece towards the end where she destroys half of Japan with a.... oh wait. Lulz.

Wait why couldn't Storm use her full powers now? I thought she was still tired or whatever from before.

If Commie's translation was right, she couldn't use it at first because there was a "mutant supression device"; then she couldn't use it because she was still recovering, then, after she recovered and the "mutant supression device" wasn't active, she couldn't use it because they took UAAAAVERINE hostage.

This device only affects her, not any of the others?

What kind of effect could it have on Wolverine and Beast? They're... well, their powers are part of their bodies. It also seemed to affect Emma, since she couldn't(?) use telepathy before that device was deactivated.

I really like the action sequences in the series, but I really, really hope that they avoid using dark interiors and night scenes lit only by some strong main energy force in future. One thing I noticed about the opening scene in ep1, the battle scene at the end of ep2, and the battle scenes throughout ep3, is that while it does a great job of conveying the feel they want, and the animation itself is great, it does end up feeling a bit like Nolan's Batman Begins action sequences where you can really appreciate the full sense of a fight because everything is either too dark or everything is lit in the aura of a single color. The action scenes in ep2 where you can see everything in daylight looked soooooo much better.

Anyways, this is the third Marvel anime and there are supposed to be four made. Are there any rumors on what/who the supposed fourth is about?

Eric Brooks--known as Blade--seeks revenge on Deacon Frost, the vampire lord who killed his mother while she was still pregnant with Eric. With all the powers of a vampire with none of their weaknesses, Blade's quest for vengeance leads him throughout Southeast Asia in search of Frost, where, in Vietnam, he discovers a vampire plot that threatens to take down the whole world.

It was kind of like one of those Baccano action scenes that took place on the side of the train, at night, in the dark. Most of them were fine, but occasionally you can't really see what's going on. There's no point obscuring all that pretty fight animation.

Also, I'll like to add that I really hope that we get to see the original generation costumes again. It was pretty cool to see them used in the Dark Phoenix scene in ep1, and to see them again in the ending credits. Hopefully they'll include at lease one more flashback set piece in the series which takes place during the day out int he open so we can see all the detail on the costumes in their full glory.

Alternatively, they could just make that the climax of the show with the entire team outfitting in "battle gear" for the final battle. :)

Still not absolutely sure if I like it. But I watched all three episodes so far, so that has to mean something. I'm a bit scared it will totally go the Anime evil crazy giant transforming mutant robot shooting laser rockets route :/ First episode was by far the best in my book.

Is she? I thought Emma just made her leave. Plus with the Hellfire Club in the show, she'll probably show up later.

Yeah that would be totally out of place in the X-men universe...

Maybe it's just me, but I see a subtle difference between alien spaceships and Sentinels on one hand and that mutant monster thingie and the typical anime biotech madman in the 2nd/3rd part of the series on the other. Anyway, I'm really glad if the X-Men fanbase likes it :) I just followed the X-Universe for short times or for big story arcs and crossovers.

Lol, I don't think you know X-men very well...

You're right ^^ Actually, I thought the U-Men were kind of made up for the show, I honestly didn't know they exist in the comic universe. Like I said, I didn't follow the X-Universe regularly. Thanks for clearing things up, I will now curiously await what the show is about to deliver :)

U-Men as a faction is based on the comics. Their designs and the Jake and Todd characters who lead them in the anime are original creations for the anime story. The art and general story is definitely stylized to be more representative of anime than normal X-men comics, but that's expected since it's an anime.

It's similar to how the Iron Man anime used Zodiac, which is a real enemy organization in the Iron Man comics, but the actual people running the organization, their plans, and their robot and character designs, are original to the anime. Too the show was pretty bad. :(

Is it me or does the artist from Afro Samurai do the art of the scientist guy? so similar in style.

Sorry if mentioned already.

Yes. The Afro Samurai original creator does all the U-Men designs.

It's amazing how well the X-men are suited for anime. It just works.

3 eps in and I'm a huge fan. Fell out with X-men comics but now I'm looking up Armor appearances. :)

Thought episode 3 was all right compared to the previous 2. The story seems to be developing too slowly for my taste but I am still loving it.

xmen episode 3

They keep finding new ways to nerf storm, whats next its that time of the month so she can't use her powers(or maybe they already done that in ep2).

Episode was ok but the later half was your typical shounen plot which I felt I’ve seen this done millions of times before.

By the end of the series she'll be preggers!

Ouch, Slayers flashback...

Just watched the first episode, and I really enjoyed it. I haven't watched or cared about an anime in years, but I plan to follow this. I loved the animation, the backgrounds, the music, and the characters and their familiar interactions. It felt like the old FOX X-Men cartoon with a fresh coat of paint and a more serious tone. In Japanese.

The interactions between Emma and the X-Men were pretty awesome in this episode. I also really love how they're handling Cyclops. It's rare that a non-comic version of X-Men actually gets Cyclops right, and it's really heart warming to see him being put front and center rather than all of the focus being on Wolverine and Storm.

Is this an anime which has balls out action and not like 2 fuckers facing each other for 15 minutes and they fight for 10 seconds and it's the next episode?

Damn the opening looks good ....

neither, it's actually good

So, what series should a guy watch who hasn't cared about anime in a couple of years? The ones I have watched in the past and enjoyed...

Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Evangelion
Escaflowne
LAIN
Haibane Renmei
Black Lagoon

Tried Elfen Lied and hated the first episode. Didn't really like Hellsing. Umm...yeah. I love Miyazaki's films too, which is like saying I like to breathe. Suggestions?

heh would have assumed with a name like that you would be all over Hellsing.
This is probably better asked in the main anime thread as to not derail here with list spams http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425851&page=222 it's really not a scary or creepy place most of the time :P

That girl's scream was really grating.

I don't remember much about x-men. But what is Emma's power originally, is she a telepath or does she turn into diamonds? Both?

As a fan of Cyclops, I feel the same way.

Emma is a primarily telepath. Her ability to turn in to a diamond form is a secondary mutation which was triggered during the Genoshan Massacre in the comics if I remember correctly.

To answer your question she has the ability to do both. But she cannot use her telepathy when in diamond form.

And if you like more shounen battle stuff than just Trigun, check out the thread I made.
