X-men Apocalypse Official Trailer

It seems Mystique is now the Wolverine of this new timeline. Except people actually like Jackman as Wolverine.

As long as long as everyone gets their chance to shine, I'm happy. My hope is that the actors playing the young mutants are great and they become the focus of the next movie. Its time to do Cyclops right.

"Lets got to WAR!" Criiiiinge!!!

I personally hate how she acts that I wont be seeing this movie till it hits netflix or something.

Really hate that they made her almost if not the lead of this movie.

:/

Nobody is crazy to sento Jubilee to first line of atack against Apocalypse =P

Omega Jubilee would destroy Apocalypse in 2 minutes or less.

She's as OP as it gets, it's why they had to nerf her and make her a Vampire to keep her away from the action otherwise every fight would be over in about 2 seconds.

She manipulates matter at the atomic level. She's basically a god.

What villains does X-Men have left? I know of Sinister, but are there any others? I guess I'm wondering where the movies can go once Apocalypse is out of the way.

Well ... it is the first canonicaly appearence in the timeline of her ... i would really doubt if they were going for omega jubilee =P

More like 90's cartoon Jubilee more likely

Not a big comics reader but is mystique always a main character like every single x-men movie made so far? I mean even wolverine took step back these days so other x-men can get some screen time. But the last two movies it seems to me mystique is more important than Prof x or magneto.

It is hard to say because it always depends on who is writting and when it is so the "main" characters change a log ...

But no, Mystique is not a main character most of the time

She shouldn't be anything more than a B-List goon. But then JLaw won six hundred Oscars, so that's that.

Proteus
Shiar Empire (which IMO could've been in the alternate future where Singer finished his Phoenix adaptation)
Onslaught
Shadow King (solo Storm movie perhaps)
Mojo (yes plz)
X-Babies
New Son (maybe Channing Tatum become super corrupt Gambit so the X-Men call Taylor Kitsch Gambit)
Cassandra Nova
The Brood
The Legacy Virus
Master Mold (he picks up even if the Sentinel program is abandoned?)
Sauron (in which the X-Men get turned into dinosaurs. YES PLZ)

Singer's X-Men movies have better critical reception than 90% of the MCU films, why marvel fans have to shit on them so much?

They are great movies.

They aren't X-Men movies. They are movies with charactere with powers. Magneto and Professor X are well thought out... But literally everyone else is a shitstain with the name of a comic character.

FOX just needs to give it up and return it back to Marvel.

So that... what could happen? The X-Men not be used in any capacity for atleast a decade?

The MCU is built. They can't just awkwardly insert all this X-Men/mutant mythology into an already established universe. It's not like Dr. Strange or the cosmic stuff where you can hide it and cordon it off as to not interfere with the rest of the movies. The issue of mutants is too big for that to have not been mentioned until now.

If Marvel gets X-Men back, that's the time to do a full reboot on the MCU. X-Men plays better on its own anyways.

The two that stand out here are X-Babies, because what in the name of Joan Cena, and the last one because you mentioned dinosaurs.

X-Men and dinosaurs. I'll take it.

No More Mutants...?

They should just skip to Messiah Complex at this point or a trilogy with House of M and Second Comimg

No kidding.

I see how deep The Flash TV show is reaching into Flash comics, wide and far, and it's only in its second season. It wants everyone to have a costume, and their comic book name no matter how silly or cartoony, and adapt all sorts of stories or situations from the comics all across its history.
Or how far across Marvel comics history the MCU is reaching between its movies, its ABC TV shows and its Netflix shows. They've made strives to make a massive universe on screen and seem to want any and every property they have to eventually get its own corner of the MCU.
Those two properties are proud to be comic adaptations and its creators seem eager to dive as far as they can into bringing the comics to life with no hesitation or looking back.

They're not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but compared to the extreme surface level adaptations the X-Men movies are still stuck in after all these years, they're a godsend.
The X-Men films are adequate, a few are even really good, but they're so damn shallow as comic book adaptations. It feels like they've still never evolved from that testing the waters approach of X-Men, all the way back in 2000.

Speaking the truth.

It's pretty obvious that they don't care about creating deep characterizations for the X-Men movies.
The biggest problem is that they don't seem to understand how to portray any sort of relationship between all the various characters, outside of Xavier and Magneto (which is usually perfect).

As others have pointed out, the back and forth you get between the various Avengers in the MCU really creates a different atmosphere than what we get from the X-Men movies.

One thing that sticks out to me is the fact that (time period be damned!) they have the gall to put Nightcrawler in a movie without Wolverine included as a lead. Those two have always made GREAT foils to each other and it would translate well in a movie. I don't even remember any meaningful dialogue between them in X2. Did he at least call him 'elf'? I haven't seen the movie in ages.

That's a really weird thing to get hung up on. Nightcrawler has been an X-Man for, what, 40 years at this point? He has dynamics with most notable characters by now. It's not some bizarre decision to have him in a movie without Wolverine (a character whose prominence critics of these films regularly complain about).

I NEED to see Onslaught in movie form.

Mystique looks so bad. I think it will be good though. Bryan Singer knows how to make a great X-Men movie. We'll hopefully get a Wolverine cameo.

The best trailer for the movie, but still not great.
I trust Singer to make a entertaining movie though.

Some of the shots with the 4 horseman looks so bad, but then they look fine in different scenes in the same set piece, it's kinda distracting.

outside of Xavier and Magneto (which is usually perfect).

That's why I love these films. McAvoy and Fassbinder were perfectly cast and their portrayal of these characters and their changing relationship is the heart of all of these films (for me at least).

Everything else is either gravy or stuff I can easily ignore.

Oh yeah, I know its a weird thing to get hung up on. It's just one of the ones that stands out to me this time, however I could go through and point out similar shit in every single X-Men movie.
Honestly feel like the only time they have succeeded in this sense is with Xavier and Mags (both iterations).

I will never forget how disappointed I was with Lady Deathstrike in X2. She wasn't even a fucking character. She was a fight scene prop.
Or the Rogue/Bobby stuff in the first movie.
Or all the characters like Psylocke in X3 who serve literally no purpose at fucking all.
Or the fact that they completely botch the Jean/Scott/Logan love triangle.
Or the fact that Mystique is now a leader of the X-Men instead of her normal self-serving characterization.

There are sooooo many examples of this. The movies are good, but they could be so much better considering the source material they work with.

Gaf i feel like something is off with this. Not feeling it fully but not sure exactly why

Didn't the same thing happen with the last two X-Men movies with the trailers but the actual movies ended up being good.

While they only have one superhero movie on their belt thus far, the Russo's are the safest bet for hitting it out of the park at the moment.

Jesus, people are really all over the Russo dick...because of Winter Soldier!? Two-thirds of a great movie with a CGI shitfest for a third act.

Yeah I don't get it. Singer invented the modern comic book movie and has delivered 2 amazing Xmen movies and one pretty good one, but Gaf shits on him constantly.

I think the trailer looks great. It shows me all the characters who will be in the movie, it shows me their powers, there is cool action, there's cheese, and there are some lines suggesting the overall tone and themes in the narrative. Nothing else. I don't know how the movie flows, I don't know what order the beats are in, but I do know there's a good director, a good team of writers, and what the trailer shows looks pretty fun, and I liked the previous movies by the same director and cast. What could go wrong?

I wish they listed the music used in the trailers. I'm guessing some are composed for the movie/trailer only but surely some have to be out there already? Maybe not lol? I have no idea how movie music works

Big question going forward after Apocalypse is if Mcavoy/Fass stick around. No question they are both perfect for their roles. Guess it depends on their availibility and of course the direction the franchise heads after this film.

Wonder if this is Singers last.
