...not bad really. If even half those rumored games come to fruition, I expect 360 will be doing quite a bit better in Japan... maybe even moving into a decent secondary market as the "hardcore" machine (a la PC Engine or Sega Saturn).

You know, I honestly could see the X360 becoming this. Like, I have a feeling that all these obscure, yet quality games, will be released for the system (especially on the Japanese side of things). While PS3 will most assuredly get FF13, the lesser-known (but probably much better) Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon will be on 360... I've always been getting a Dreamcast vibe from this thing, and in a good way. So now lets hope for some good shmups and 2d fighters =P

Isn't the original Xbox considered the "hardcore" system in the US currently? Not as hardcore as the Dreamcast obviously but you know.

Yeah, but there's been some doubt on that. I'm only counting officially announced games anyway.

If MS could somehow get the next generation Dynasty Warriors game at launch that would be a huge win for them. But I don't see it happening for a couple reasons. First reason is Kuturagis infatuation with the series. I don't think Sony would let it go without PS3 getting the game first. Secondly, MS will want to build up 99 Nights. If the new Dynasty Warriors released alongside 99 Nights you might as well pack it in for 99 Nights as it'll get destroyed. I'm not saying which game is better, but in terms of mindshare a new Dynasty Warriors game would overshadow it.

while the 360 will have a bigger market share in the west, i'm going 50/50 between 360 and ps3, it will still have a problem in japan imo.

japanese gamers [the traditional ones] have become very cautious, look at the weekly sales, so will they risk it on a new expensive console that didn't do well in the previous gen?

it's a strong[er] japanese line up, but 360 has yet to officially take anything away from playstation, something it will need to do to grab [playstation] gamers.

Yep, the Blue Dragon director most recently directed Blinx 2 along with Ohshima. Sakaguchi isn't directing or producing LO, i'm not sure about BD he might be the producer on that one.

Feel Plus, a new studio that was formed for the Lost Odyssey project and includes ex Square Enix employees, is handling development duties on the game. Serving as producer is Hiroshi Kawai, with Daisuke Fukugawa and Takahiro Kaminagayoshi serving in double director roles (for more on these three, see this story). All three are Field Plus staff members.

Well, this is from his xbox.com interview:

I guess its certainly possible he was only talking about BD even thought he question was regarding both. Which is fine with me, as I have much more faith in Lost Odyssey right now than I do Blue Dragon.

Sakaguchi is like an outside contractor or something with both games.

Think of it like Remedy, 3D Realms, and Take 2 for Max Payne.

You had your internally game designers, producers, and directors at Remedy.
You had your outside game designers, producers, and directors at 3D Realms.
You had your publisher game designers, producers, and directors at Take 2.

So you can have an outside director, and still have an internal one.

Heh, no...but if that other 2ch insider is right (he knew about summit date+place and black betakits before anyone else) we should be expecting Ridge, WE, V5 game (guess he probably thought of Biohazard5 and not VF5), some MO game (Mana Online?) and something ending with 13 (FF, Power Pro Baseball or Momotarou Densetsu? They're all at 12th sequel right now) at monday's 360 summit.
