Xbox 360 in the wild.. (Intel Devs Forum)

'Cause it doesn't have analog triggers and the analog placement still blows.[/troll derailment]

Heh, with all these 360 in the wild pics I expect launch day to be a 24 hour "Xbox 360 goes wild!" day. Complete with 360's with no faceplates!

[PPV announcer]Watch as these 360's lose their inhibitions... and their tops![/PPV announcer]

A pic of the Xbox 360 truly in the wild:

I thought the natural habitat of the 360 was in a shabby apartment with a shitty tv and a redheaded virgin.

It's a CONSOLE!, fool
No, I mean it! :P

If there was a faceplate that said PENIS, I'd buy a 360.

The streaming is only for WMV videos? That's not that hot, but it's understandable. So far I think that having a DVI->Component or DVI->HDMI dongle on a PC is much better deal (it lets you see on a HDTV anything you have on a PC, including games and stuff), but the PC pretty much has to be close to the TV for that to make sense (or to have a dedicated PC just for serving the TV)

The news of HDMI support is good if it's really true (I'm saying if, because some guy at B3D seemed pretty confident that the video encoder chip they are using is not capable of such feat). Although it's main advantage is watching disc based HD content (HDDVD, BluRay) which you can't watch in HD otherwise, it also offers better picture quality on LCD TVs.

in the first pics.. the xbox360 looks cheap..
The plastic used for X360 is really nothing special. It's the same stuff most PC cases fronts are made of. I'm sure many would disagree, but in real life, the unit simply doesn't have that rich look that you notice when you look at Ipod or PSP or expensive TVs or whatnot. It's not as striking difference as NDS on glamour shots vs. NDS in real life, but the glamour shots make it look more richly built than it really is. Also, on the subject of looks, I personally think Sony is a bit stupid for not selling white or black PS3 as standard instead of silver one. Silver one definitely didn't look as expensive as white or black one, which both had that ZOMG thing going for them when you look at the build and material quality.

The HDMI support has always been "theoretically possible" but it may be like progressive scan DVD-Video was on the PS2, where they dangle the high-fidelity carrot in front of us for years before actually delivering it. They could have given it to us from Day 1, but may wait a long time for unknown reasons.

It was my understanding that WMV streaming was available with non MCE PCs (In the same way it'll pick up your music and your photos in My Music, My Pictures etc) but if you have a MCE PC it'll act as an extender and play anything that MCE will play, which from my experience is a hell of a lot more than just WMV.

I'll have to install MCE to refresh my memory but I'm sure that last time I used it, MCE could play almost anything if you had the right codec installed, I had FFDshow installed and it played everything I threw at it.

I'm all for the 360 and everything... But you know what I cant wait to do?

Rip that fucker wide open and stick a great big MODCHIP in there, and install Xbox Media Centre (360 Edition) and do whatever the fuck I like without buying a new version of windows.

You bitches all know it's going to happen.

I predict I'll get more use out of it as a general video pusher than I will games.
