I bought the console at launch for PGR3, played that and Geometry wars in and out a bit until like April 2006 when it died, and microsoft asked me if I was abusing my console in any way and that was my fault... After that... I kind of just was pretty ho-hum about the console. Then seeing this console become so popular with the general bro-culture, I am more or less totally uninterested.

people like games like madden/cod/forza because they're amazing multiplayer games and because not many games can pull off the fantastical settings in a lot of single player japanese games, whether its because of the story/voice acting/art/whatever. look at movies, dudebros and nerds alike are into transformers and spiderman and all that shit.

The whole dudebro shit is overplayed, it seems if you enjoy anything designed for a boy or man that suddenly you slip into that category, I don't like football but like gears of war, dudebro I am.
I also enjoy viva pinata, banjo, kameo, sonic, rockband, tales of vesperia, tomb raider, scene it, portal, raiden fighters, rayman, mirrors edge, lost odyssey, blue dragon, kinect sports, gunstringer, child of eden, dance central, bayonetta, and an assorted other style of games including the diverse lineup of xbla. This isn't even counting the 50 wii games I own which you well know is filled with excellent dudebro like titles.
I really don't think the perception is that fair, both the ps3 and 360 have the same amount of realistic shoot everyone games. Uncharted, killzone, infamous, twisted metal, god of war, resistance, gran turismo, these are all realistic/violent kill fest games (sans gran turismo but since that has some manly cars in it..!). The 360 has halo, gears, and some other exclusive games that could be classed in a similar way, but when comparing game to game it's pretty much a wash. Littlebigplanet? Viva pinata? All of the kinect lineup to this point?
Sorry for a list war of sort, the dudebro thing in itself is an annoying stigma that once held some merit but is being twisted into the same way the word emo did, a person who cries over the death of their whole family in a movie is now emo. A person who enjoys gears of war, halo or uncharted is dudebro.

I never understood it as only referring to realistic shoot em ups. The fact you include gears, infamous and twisted metal as a realistic shoot em ups is funny.
I Always understood the term to refer to shooters that prioritized the violence and put the story on the back burner. Not that games like Halo or gears don't have stories but more about the fact you can gloss em over and still follow the objectives to a satisfying conclusion (MP titles like MoH, BF3 and Cod fit this as well).
Games like Killzone 2 (KZ3 was paced horribly), resistance, Uncharted series are more about the story instead of turning mind off and going along with ride. I would leave that to Socom 4.

Usually I find dudebro funny, but the problem here is that dudebro is being used as a sweeping generalization to insult the West. I believe what has bothered some the most is that dudebro isn't being used as part of criticism, but is being used as little more than a tool to simply express bigotry towards anything western from the culture to people. I'd argue referring to the ps3, Japan & weeaboos in the same tone as was done with dudebros, the west and the 360 itt would create an even larger outcry and elicit greater anger.
As I said I normally find dudebro funny, so much so that on another forum I created an Brahsurdly popular gimmick named dude.bro who spoke in Brahnics, constantly lampooning the bro-ciety as a whole. Obviously it's not the term dudebro that bothered me, but simply the way it was being used. Nobody likes to be pigeon holed based on little more than a few commonalities and geographical region of birth.
