Xbox and Bethesda Showcase June 12th

Hopefully it's not a repeat of the boring GP AD of last year.

Fingers crossed that Starfield is the The Expanse game I'm hoping for, and not Fartout in space.
So if they start the show saying everything you are about to see will be day 1 with gamepass, it's going to bad?

Regardless of if you can choose to buy the games without Gamepass?

so when the Activision deal goes through will the showcase be called Xbox & Bethesda & Activision & Blizzard & King Games Showcase?
It will be Xbox presents the "Acitvision Bethesda show starring Gamepass."

Then they will list a bunch of Guest Stars and a musical guest.

Similar to SNL.

Super hyped for the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. Expecting two hours. My predictions -

- Massive 30 minute blowout for Starfield. 11/11/22.
- Redfall gameplay trailer. February 2023.
- Fable gameplay trailer.
- Avowed gameplay trailer. 2023.
- Contraband gameplay trailer. 2023.
- Age of Empires IV. Console port. October 2022.
- Forza Motorsport gameplay overview trailer. September 2022.
- Compulsion Games new IP. CGI trailer.

- Indie Games Segment Montage
- Game Pass Segment
- Third Party Games. Main one most likely being A Plague Tale Requiem. Day One Game Pass. Expecting an August release date.
- Scorn gameplay trailer. October 2022.

There will be a few other reveals as well as game segments for new content for Forza Horizon 5, Flight Simulator, Sea of Thieves, etc.

Good list. I'm a bit surprised you think Redfall will be delayed out of 2022 though. I'm thinking October.

P.S. I'm playing Halo Infinite right now too. Really enjoyable game.

Thanks. Loved Halo Infinite story campaign. Overall, a 9.5/10 for me and my 2021 game of the year. Note that this is just for the campaign as im not an online co-op/multi-player gamer whatsoever.

As for Redfall, I believe that it gets delayed for a few reasons. First, the Fall/Holiday season will be packed first party and third party wise. If the four games I list all release in Sept/Oct/Nov, Microsoft doesn't need a fifth game. And if one of the four doesn't release, my bet would be AOE IV only because the console port isn't ready. Even taking this into account, they still don't need Redfall.

Second, it's said to be a Borderlands type looter shooter which if true, means that they will need post launch content. If that's not ready to go to where they're ahead by a few months, then no reason in releasing the game because there would be nothing new for it and could turn into a Halo Infinite situation which can easily be avoided. Third, with Starfield being 11/11/22, I don't see October simply because vast majority will be getting ready for Starfield and could be playing third party games such as Gotham Knights which is late October. Fourth and this is higher up on my personal list is that for 2021 and 2022, the first half has been completely empty in regards to a Microsoft first party game. Delaying Redfall to February 2023 solves this issue because three years in a row would be very disappointing in my opinion.

Yeah Im happy Microsoft stick to a known schedule. That way we know when things will happen. Sony are taking the piss with how unpredictable they have been. When they finally show up, we get a short 40 minute showcase or even worse, a state of play.

What do you mean, they've been doing september the last two years

Fair enough. You provide reasonable thoughts on why it could be delayed. It wouldn't shock me, but I still feel it makes 2022. I don't think they'll worry too much about having multiple games in close proximity. Redfall really would've been perfect for the originally planned summer release though. June would have been perfect considering Xbox's completely barren first half, but even August would be a great fit. Not sure it'll be ready then though.

I'm predicting:
August: Grounded
September: Deathloop
October: Redfall, Forza
November: Starfield

I'm actually not sure there's anything wrong with that cadence. To me, the Age of Empire port and Scorn are small enough releases that it doesn't matter when then come out. Although with how many times Scorn has been delayed, we'll see if it even hits this year.

Yup, Halo Infinite is awesome. I'm not done the campaign yet, but I love it. I'm not interested in the multiplayer at all.

Just show gameplay. Not CG, not Logo reveals, not some old guy dressed in a suit jacket and t-shirt with a logo on it talking out of his pooper, just gameplay.

Yeah last year was great, but not enough of the games showed gameplay. I'm hoping for more this year.

Sales are hurting so bad, they really have no choice....

Right?

I'm not sure what you're getting at? Why would requesting more gameplay be a bad (or unreasonable) thing?

I've been praising their lineup and showcases so not sure why you're being obnoxious like that.

I was playing devils advocate...

People get upset if too much game is shown because it's boring.... but CGI to show the games tone is also bad...

I'm not going to predict anything, because I know shit when it comes to stuff like that, but I hope we are going to see:

- A little tease for Compulsion game. I have a feeling they are making a very unique game that is unlike anything we have seen before (from gameplay mechanics point of view) and are trying to keep it under wraps as long as possible.

- Xbox has been spoiling us with stuff like fps and res boost in the recent past, so I wish they would announce something new. Super Resolution or whatever they called it. Maybe a new BC method. Doubt it, though.

- I really want to see more of Contraband.

- Double Fine usually makes a ton of these small indie titles and I'm pretty sure they have a few of them cooking.

This will have to take the place of E3 in my home. We usually order in Pizza and make an event for E3 but this will be close enough. Hope they remember to pack in some cringe amidst all their game trailers.

I just procured a Xbox Series S. Gonna catch up with the various Xbox games in the meantime

Fallout 3 is already essentially a remaster on SX, 4K at 60 FPS. New Vegas didn't get a resolution boost unfortunately but at least it got a 60 FPS patch. So there's that.

I knew someone was going to bring this us…but I hoped they wouldn't.

Is requesting to see some gameplay a fanboy move now??

Edit: i see your response but i don't remember anyone unhappy to see some prolonged gameplay, especially from games where we saw absolute jack shit like fable, avowed or starfield, and even more when these titles are potential 100 hours open world games...

Nobody is gonna be unhappy if they show 30 min gameplay for each of these games.

All I need is to hear this song at some point in the show:

Then I know there's either a remaster of JSRF or a new episode.

Imagine...
the conference starts, all the lights go out...

*suddenly white light flashes*
"UNDERSTAND - UNDERSTAND!"

darkness and silence again...

*blue light flashes*
"UNDERSTAND - UNDERSTAND!"

shorter break this time

"UNDERSTAND - UNDERSTAND"

pauses getting shoter and shorter

"UNDERSTAND - UNDERSTAND"
"UNDERSTAND - UNDERSTAND"
"UNDERSTAND - UNDERSTAND"
"THE CONCEPT OF LOVE!"

*trailer starts*

Seems interesting. These big publishers refuse to be under Xbox/PS. Explains why Microsoft made Microsoft Gaming and Jim Ryan placed Bungie under SIE instead of PS Studios. I think the same will happen if Act/blizz get through.

Yeah, I think AB has already been confirmed to stay its own entity under Microsoft.

On MS side I'm not sure if they "refuse" to be under them. I think it's the way MS operates now when it comes to big acquisitions.

They don't absorb them under their brand name anymore like back in the Steve Ballmer days. Look at LinkedIn and Github, easy to forget they are now wholly owned by MS.

Easier to sell as well, I guess.

Is this all Xbox while highlighting the Bethesda name, or is it just all the Bethesda Stuff, which by default is on Xbox?

I just know it'll be third person, so that's good enough for me.

Yeah. Last year I was waiting and waiting, but after 2 years of this I just don't include them in most discussions around June/July shows. Just waiting for September for their big news.

They'll still have a little bit for Keighley though. September is not a great time for announcing things for 2022 since it's so late in the year. Summer is kind of the last chance to really announce FFXVI or God of War for this year and market it effectively.

I'm sorry :(

But I played it like that earlier this year and TBH it felt pretty good.
I want a version that is fully compatible and hopefully less bugs. It would be interesting to see if such a thing did happen would it come to PlayStation. Starfield will most certainly be exclusive.

You'll get lots of shit that are not gameplay, it's always part of the show.

But yep, those announcements on CG are bullshit. Hope they deliver gameplay.

Activision never really had their own shows other than Call of Duty events, and then Blizz-Con, and whatever ID Software does. Usually they got top billing in the console shows with sporadic announcements.

It's not exactly clear that they'll have their own billing like Bethesda.

The MP is second to none. Such a beast of a game. Best MP game I've engaged with in a long time. Dont sleep on it.
